Can confirm the spin heel is most OP move ever and most people will be able to do it.

as someone who trains kickboxing, the flying back kick is the most op move ever. and probably the most powerfull

Seriously? It took me ages to get it right.
Then again, my instructor kinda sucked.
User avatar #60 to #59 - rakaka (07/11/2014) [-]
did you happen to attend class at a mcdojo, as they're called?
User avatar #62 to #60 - ninjaroo (07/11/2014) [-]
I feel bad and now I want to explain myself.
My instructor was actually really good, and he taught me a lot of things. As a matter of fact, I'd say that besides my parents he was one of the dominant factors on how I turned out as a human being. He taught me to respect for myself and others, discipline, all that good stuff, not to mention all that self defense.
Unfortunately, some family stuff came up and I had to stop for a while, and when I tried to come back we had an argument and we ended on bad terms.

On the issue of training, our dojang was in a daycare center, so we had a lot of kids, which meant we focused on basic and intermediate kicks. Our side kicks, front snap kicks, back kicks and running/jumping kicks were the absolute best around. Our spinning kicks and our launching kicks were not.
User avatar #63 to #62 - rakaka (07/11/2014) [-]
I know that feel. My dojang isnt' anywhere that would particularly attract kids other than it being martial arts but it is mostly kids. fortunately our instructors are flexible and will adjust how we do class based on those in attendance.
#156 to #17 - anon (07/12/2014) [-]
Eh, Taekwondo can be very **** , considering these kiddies can get black belts at 12. Honestly, I finished my training at 15, I've been doing Kung Fu San Soo, which I think is a million times better. Taekwondo can be fine if you find a trainer who is in it for the experience, and hasn't derived from the original art. Same goes with Karate, Jujitsu, and others. Also, spin kicks are usually ineffective unless your fighting some nub like this guy, they are easy to control and can lose you balance.

This was 'Straya? I assumed it was England for some reason. Probably because nobody got eaten by wildlife.

Australia mentioned, swell with redbacks and funnel webs.

The guy that got hit was either Aboriginal or some kind of Polynesian, leaving this to either be New Zealand or Australia.

Its New Zealand, he's Maori

something like a fifth to a sixth of the Maori population lives in australia, could easily be either country.

I'm here to talk about this kick......
I don't know what type of kick this is....
Maybe it's called **** you.

It's generally called "spinning (reverse?) roundhouse kick" but so are several other kicks. When I trained Tae Kwon Do we called it "bandae dollyo chagi", or reverse round kick. I think the term these days is reverse hook kick. It's quite a powerful kick, but it's cumbersome and unless the form is good you'll see it coming from a mile away. If the form IS good, and the martial artist is well trained the kick is faster than a untrained person can punch. Blink and you're out, like. It can be used to break a clinch (in a TKD match you're not allowed to grab your opponent) so even if it looks like a cartwheel it can be fired from point blank range. you kind of turn under your opponent right arm and kick him in the left ear. I've seen some great KO:s like that, it looks like a ninja shadow step or something.

It's not a "muscle" kick, the secret is in using your hip for speed and range, it's like a whiplash. The main drawbacks of the kick are that your center of mass is high (and you stand on one leg) so you fall easily, and anyone fast enough to duck can and will bitt chagi you in the gut. Doing like the guy in the video and throwing it as first attack in a real world fight is stupid but brave, and the reasons for using it as welcome drink are:
1, your opponent doesn't know that you are a martial artist and will be surprised and likely knocked out
2, If your guess is that he himself isn't trained in martial arts, he won't know how to defend against such an exotic kick (seriously, everybody expects a kick to the balls)
3, It looks very intimidating and many people will bugger off when a boot just swished past their face.

Dude.....thanks......but I know a roundhouse when I see one. I've actually been trying to perfect my balance+form on the heavy bag at my local gym for the past month. My comment was referring to another edited video similar to the content where a kid is reviewing a nerf gun and tries to say something....tough I guess?
User avatar #167 to #166 - beerbeerbeer (07/12/2014) [-]
Oh, missed your reference. Still, maybe my post can entertain somebody. Remember to not hit with the bag with your leg fully stretched/locked, that ***** up your ligaments. Starting to retract your foot like a hook kick just before it hits is how to do it. Good luck with your training.

You can slow it down and see the clap for sound and his foot completely missing lol.
User avatar #58 to #50 - ninjaroo (07/11/2014) [-]
I'm gonna need to see that, because that's not an easy movement to fake.
Not to mention, walking up to film that, and the foot getting that close. That'd scare the **** out of most people.

Your legs have to hold the rest of your body up the entire time, and your arms, when no holding onto anything, don't have to do **** , and that's why kicks are more powerful than punches, right?
