Don't worry kids! If some cockgobbler ever does this to you, just remember you're being paid to be there and they have to wait for you to finish counting.
Every single coin.
One at a time.
It could take hours, especially if they ask what's taking so long and you lose count.
Several times.
And if you aren't finished by closing time you'll have to give it back and ask them to try again the next day.

Not to mention that there are several businesses that can deny the payment if you don't already have the coins pre rolled.

i tried to pay for a meal at a restaurant one time with 2 rolls of quarters, and the made me unroll the quarters and count them out at the register in front of them

But I'm pretty sure government places can't deny it, but don't quote me on that

I don't even care, I'd just count slowly and wouldn't let him leave until I finished counting. Like....seriously it's their job to sit there and do nothing else. He could be doing other stuff. He'd be through more hell than I.

You obviously know everything about this ticket. What time was it? Where was it? Was it a legitimately given ticket? Was the officer who gave the ticket happy that day? Give me this information, tell me why the officer gave the ticket.

No I'm not sticking up for the post, but your comment is exactly the same argument as the post but from the opposite side.
User avatar #33 to #28 - mylazy ONLINE (10/07/2013) [-]
The problem is that this won't change anything and the person behind the desk counting the money has very little chance that he/she was actually involved in you getting a ticket. The officer who gave you the ticket won't be scolded. The ticket won't be rescinded. You are punishing someone who had nothing to do with your ticket.

I can say for sure she had nothing to do with the ticket, it's her job to process them not write them. That guy is a certified spiteful asshat for sure. Of what little I know, this I am sure.

You don't get a ticket for following the law, on top of that, rather or not the cop was having a good or bad day, whatever the man did to violate traffic law, was warrant for a ticket. He obviously pleaded guilty because you get to go before a judge before you have to pay it.

If the amount money it costs to pay an employee on an hourly wage to count coins/bills exceeds the profit gained from said transaction, the institution/business reserves the right to refuse that transaction; however, the debtor still needs to pay one way or the other.
In that isolated context, the coins loose their status as legal tender.

#6 to #5 - kudo (10/06/2013) [-]
no, because unfortunately for you, no matter if it's pennies or quarters, or a hundred dollar bill, if all the currency is proven to be legal tender of the U.S., you are REQUIRED to take it. if, after 3 attempts to pay the debt with whatever tender is available, the debt remains unpaid, then the debt is considered repaid, and you don't get jack **** .
#36 to #6 - bibbity (10/07/2013) [-]
That's all well and good but this is 'straya cunt and we have rules about this sort of thing. Trying to pay sixty dollars in five and ten cent coins is illegal.
User avatar #59 to #36 - crazyhindu (10/07/2013) [-]
Is there a law saying this? If not its not ilegal.
#101 to #59 - bibbity (10/07/2013) [-]
Under the currency act of 1965 you can only pay up to five dollars with coins if using five, ten, twenty or fifty cent coins, and up to 10 times the face value of the coins if using one or two dollar coins. Beyond those amounts it's not considered legal tender.
User avatar #27 to #6 - kikisu (10/06/2013) [-]
I'm not sure but if you try to pay a 2$ charge with something like a 100$ bill they can refuse you, so it may be possible for it to apply in reverse.

User avatar #68 to #66 - psykobear (10/07/2013) [-]
Yes, that is really... really obvious.
But I said 1,200 coins.
The fine was $60.00
Sooooooooo, I knid of ******* know that there are more coins than pennies.
OP said 1,200 cents, when 1,200 cents is $12
The fine was $60.
Could you not?

it was in 5c and 10c coins.
User avatar #73 to #72 - psykobear (10/07/2013) [-]
Actually the content is wrong.
It says 1,200 coins were used.
The fine was $60 dollars
1,200 nickles is $60
So either no dimes were used, the fine was more than $60, or more than 1,200 coins were used.
eyke for the mention, maybe an explanation
User avatar #76 to #73 - slothton (10/07/2013) [-]
no, he asked for 1200 coins in nickels and dimes.
User avatar #81 to #76 - psykobear (10/07/2013) [-]
If he got it in nickles AND dimes, it would add up to more than $60
The content also says that the fine was $60.
Since 1,200 nickles is $60, any dimes replacing nickles would increase the amount, thus running it above $60
User avatar #84 to #82 - psykobear (10/07/2013) [-]
Okay then.
User avatar #74 to #73 - psykobear (10/07/2013) [-]

User avatar #83 to #80 - psykobear (10/07/2013) [-]

Or my comment, one of the two
#85 to #79 - chuckbillrow (10/07/2013) [-]
the content was wrong
he paid the ticket using some combination of 1200 nickels and dimes that totaled 60 dollars or 6000 cents
User avatar #88 to #85 - psykobear (10/07/2013) [-]
Also, I know. My original comment was pointing out this mistake.
User avatar #87 to #85 - psykobear (10/07/2013) [-]
But any combination of nickles and dimes would add up to more than $60.
1,200 nickles is $60, so replacing any of them with dimes would add up to more than $60
User avatar #91 to #87 - chuckbillrow (10/07/2013) [-]
i did not notice I was speaking to you and not the other guy... otherwise i would not have bothered with the picture, also did not do the math there but that only raises more questions.
