newforomador (10/19/2013) [-] Just saying, the symbol on his back doesn't mean he's the captain, it just means he's going as a member of the same squad as Hitsugaya. I can't think of any important character in that squad that looks similar to that so he probably just decided to be a lower soldier.

It's been a long time since I've watched the show so I just thought that the symbol on their back (which I'm pretty sure is the Japanese character for the number of the squad) only indicated what squad they're in, not sure about there being a difference in what the grunts and captains wear.
