It is in context. The doctor keeps defending all the patients of Arkham and bashing Batman saying pretty much "Batman is the monster. Not them." Joker proves him wrong obviously.

eh...it made me chuckle

This isn't a jolly campy comic series this is DKR this is the future where batman is getting old and getting real tired of criminals's **** so he's starts to lose it a lil' bit

and the joker is just doing what he wants, anarchy, maybe thought it was funny what the guy was telling everyone as he is sane and **** now get a cut in the mug by a mug.

this is a comic series hated by alot of people because of it's controversy to the batman character.

There is no Joker without Batman. Batman is the very reason the Joker even exists, both as an archenemy, and every iteration the psychotic clown has appeared in.

Question for you- If the Joker doesn't really want to kill Batman, he must be pretty confident in his abilities to not die. He blows stuff up around him, shoots, stabs, etc Batman but doesn't want him dead. Is Joker purposely holding punches or what?
User avatar #65 to #58 - animedudej (08/07/2014) [-]
the explain dude gave you kindof a bs reason there...

the reason the joker does that is that he wants Batman to kill him because that would violate everything that the batman stands for and therefore the Joker would get it his way... he doesnt care if he dies or not as long as he breaks the batman mentally
User avatar #59 to #58 - comicexplain ONLINE (08/07/2014) [-]
In many incarnations, the Joker has medium awareness! He knows he's in a comic book. In fact, it's been suggested that, in a meta sorta of way, he only does what he does (Kill people, be Batman's greatest foe) because he knows if he didn't, then comicbooks wouldn't get sold, and everyone's life would cease to exist! Which makes Joker a hero, in a funny way. The ultimate hero!
User avatar #60 to #59 - wimwam (08/07/2014) [-]
wtf really? Do you have an example where it shows he is self-aware?
User avatar #68 to #60 - comicexplain ONLINE (08/07/2014) [-]
There's quite a few examples, such as him whistling his own theme song, man-handling his own speech bubbles, referencing non-cannon continuities (Like when Batman and SPIDER-MAN joined forces!), and quoting from TV tropes...

"In the miniseries Joker's Asylum, Joker plays a modern take on the Cryptkeeper. At one point, in Two-Face's issue, he turns to the reader and tells him to find a coin, with such intensity that it probably sent a few comic book fans scrambling for their wallets.

It wasn't just that point. The implication in several of the stories in Joker's Asylum is that he is indeed talking and narrating the stories directly to the audience. Cue lots of looking directly at the Fourth Wall."

Sigh... Im not a fan of these new video things. They never show the sauce (like in youtube video you can click it and it will take you to the original in youtube) and now the unmute button doesnt work for me so theres no sound. Or is there just no sound in this? What would be the point in that? Well... Here its a longer version... and the ending gave me chills so it was worth looking up.

Dark Knight Returns Part 2 - Joker kills an entire studio audience
User avatar #48 to #31 - azraelthemage (08/07/2014) [-]
If there's no sound, it was originally a gif.

>now the unmute button doesnt work for me so theres no sound. Or is there just no sound in this? What would be the point in that?
It's probably because most of the webms circulating here come from websites that don't allow sound, like 4chan.
