Remember when Nintendo games made the screen blink until you blew on the cartridge and reset the console 8 times?
User avatar #142 to #38 - negativeone (04/08/2014) [-]
My NES deleted the save data on my copy of LoZ. Paid for the console in box, and all I get is an ungrateful plastic twat that wipes my hours of hard work.

EBAY IS YOUR FRIEND!

Maybe a tv maybe slightly pricey due to packaging costs, but other than that, go there.

OR

Buy that adapter there?

I think I had to change mine to AV1.

But I didn't start playing "console games" until the gamecube was released.

Got a gameboy in 96 and stuck with handhelds for the most part.

I was poorfag kid, so it kinda makes my heart sad when I think back to how exciting it was for me to get **** like that.

And now I'm poor -because- of video games. Pic related.

I used channel 4
#134 - atma (04/08/2014) [-]
On my TV at home, 3 wasn't a channel, so I got really used to static meaning "ready to play video games!"
Then I hooked my Nintendo up at my grandma's house, and her channel 3 was a local news channel... mfw

User avatar #137 - commontroll ONLINE (04/08/2014) [-]
I don't remember, because we were too poor to have any consoles growing up. We also didn't have cable. Just a TV and a VCR.

Man, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one here who didn't have tons of fancy gadgets growing up. Just a yard of dirt, and if we were lucky, mud.
#147 to #137 - amuzen (04/08/2014) [-]
I got my nintendo via an experimental homeschool program, my ps one from a yard sale for 50 dollars that we saved up for via a variety of odd jobs and the TV I used growing up me and my big brother salvaged from the dump and fixed by stripping wires from other tvs we took from the dump. we were able to secure contra, super marios bros/duck hunt, super mario bros 3, Aladdin, lion king, double dragon, ninja turtles, bomberman and boulder dash during the nintendo era plus we managed to fix up a couple of controllers with scraps we found at the dump.

Even lower class white trash trailer park kids like us had video games growing up.
User avatar #6 - banjodance (04/07/2014) [-]
Dude, who remembers unplugging the cable, sitting in front of a 10" screen and playing duckhunt w/ a friend?

Be it channel 3, 4, 95, 96, composite video, component video or HDMI, game consoles are one of only two reasons I turn the TV on at all anymore.
