as a father and husband, we have very few rules in my house. but the one rule that is followed, no matter what, is when Tom Hanks speaks, you shut up and listen.

And he's a good person too!

My acting teacher is was a professional actor up in Maine in the mid 80's when THanks was beginning to be a star (he had been in a movie or two, but not as famous as now) and she got to do a show with him. She said that he was one of the most best actors she ever worked with.

In addition, during a snowstorm, rehearsal was let out early so the actors could get home safely. My acting teacher ended up driving off the road into a snowbank. It was before cell phones so she wasn't sure what to do so she just sat in her car to stay warm until a car stopped to help her. Who stopped to help her? None other than THanks himself. He basically single handedly pushed the car out of the snow by himself. Thanks THanks.

>Neighbor's Sister was a Birthday entertainer (Did Magic n Jokes for little kids at their parties)
>Goes to this party, same **** different day
>Except its not
>Kid is a brat, but the party is really nice so she doesn't really care
>She gets on with her act
>Most of the kids love it, but the birthday bitch won't shut his mouth
>"You suck at Magic! My Uncles way better at it then you!" "That was a stupid joke, my Uncles is way funnier then you!" ect
>Shes getting tired of it, she's use to talkative demon spawn but this kid won't even stop to breath, he just keeps going on about his Uncle being Jesus
>Finally gets sick of it
>ask "Well if your Uncles so great, who is he?"
>Kid stops and smirks the most **** eating smirk
>"Tom. Hanks."
>Almost as he says it, Tom pokes his head out from the house
>"You need something Jimmy?"
>"Nah Uncle Tom, we're all good!"
>Kid turns back and just smirks

How is Drive your favorite movie, the main character never even spoke.
User avatar #59 to #43 - myjeren (04/10/2014) [-]
My favorite director is Kubrick, who was a master at imagery. If a film can pull of what Space Odyssey or FMJ does, then I usually love it. Drive as able to convey Driver's emotions perfectly with the use of this not to mention that it's extremely beautiful too . It's also well written, acted, and directed.

And he talks plenty in it.

I can never look at Tom Hanks the same again after my friend made a Fallout 3 character that looked like T.Hanks. He used the console commands to give himself infinite ammo and HP, made himself gigantic, and put on pajamas. He equipped himself with a gatling laser, the MIRV, and a super mutant behemoth club and went on a rampage across the wastes.

Omega Hom Tanks was born.
User avatar #89 to #27 - schneidend (04/11/2014) [-]
Asking my pal if he's still got screenshots. He also made himself tiny at one point and was shooting his gatling laser at the ankles of super mutants. Being huge is a major liability, though, because you still take the same amount of fall damage, and you're so big that every fall looks survivable, but it sure as hell isn't. His only deaths were from falling too hard and taking a lot of damage at once, since his infinite HP was from regeneration.

How can an actor be funny? I mean since they don't write their own stuff or anything (Some do, but not Tom Hanks.), it just seems like a good actor and not a good dramatic actor and a good comedy actor, just simply a good actor.

No hate on Hanks, though, he's one of my favorite comedians. I just re watched The Green Mile actually.

"How can an actor be funny?" Anyone can be funny.
User avatar #64 to #63 - cannibalvegan (04/10/2014) [-]
Not saying that they can't be funny, but I'm just saying that I don't get what makes an actor funny in movies.
User avatar #67 to #64 - brutallyhonest ONLINE (04/10/2014) [-]
Their personality. Their character's reactions to certain things, body movements, facial expressions, that the actor him/herself chooses to use on their own, grasping the scene in their own perspective or manner; not someone telling them to do it like they do. That's what most of the great comedians do.. they read the script, their character's story, they get hired, they go on set, maybe get SOME direction by the director.. and they just let loose and go with it. They're funny people, funny actors. Their personalities are fit to just go on camera and be hilarious.
User avatar #66 to #51 - cannibalvegan (04/10/2014) [-]
EDIT: I meant to say ACTOR, not comedian.
#77 to #51 - nivikyesac (04/11/2014) [-]
I understand where you are coming from, but you have to have a certain quality to be able to pull off comedy as an actor... You have to be able to say the lines or react a certain way. So yes it's the writers who are funny but the actor as well, because lets face it... not everyone can be funny.
User avatar #62 to #51 - tombombadil (04/10/2014) [-]
In film, some scripts are largely undeveloped when the actors get them, so in certain cases a lot of the best stuff is made up by them on the fly. Even in well developed, strict scripts, a good actor will be able to make the right call about when and how to say something, how to move when he or she says it, and the right facial expressions to go along with it. Often times a script that is already funny can be made into gold with the right actor.
