I always hear that, that the sub is better than the dub for many animes, but I hardly understand. Firstly, why would you watch something in another language when you don't have to? Secondly, surely not so many dubs would translate it in such a way which make the sentences sound worse than the sub, right?
It's all about where it came form originally. If it was made originally for japanese audiences, there are certain things (syncing words with mouth movements, cultural differences, etc) that won't translate well so they have to alter it slightly. I enjoy both dub and sub, and while it is true that more often than not it is better subbed, there are some fantastic dubs out there.
Can't remember the exact number, more than 5, less than 10 all the way through. Many more where I checked out a few episodes of each. Honestly, most of the time it's just because subs come out first and I watch them as they come out and a lot of shows I don't feel like watching a second time within a year (about how long dubs take to come out from initial release).
In the Japanese Voiceovers the characters tend to be more serious even when the show is completely nonsensical, so it plays a bit of overdramatization for laughs.
The English voices sound less serious when they're talking about something. which honestly I think fits a western sense of humor better. They're both good, but they're kinda different.
It's a treat either way. The Japanese sub makes it a bit more comically surreal while the English version is a bit more dry humor, although it isn't bland in the slightest and the reactions to things are still great.
what did he do again?
i read the manga twice, but i can't remember anymore.
I just remember he said it and then won the contest to decide the boss/ultimate badass of the class
I might be wrong, cuz I haven't read it in a while, but he joined this thing to break a record for the longest domino chain, and he got frustrated from the tedious work that the night before they were going to publicly announce the domino chain, he snuck into the warehouse and glued the second to last domino down so that they don't break the record. This guys on a different level.
I was gonna say that I thought that one anime had a better high school setting then I remembered that for some goddamn reason 99% of animes the main character is in high school.
