User avatar #116 to #87 - spceinvdr (03/08/2014) [-]
Or maybe people just dont know how to drive their ******* cars.

If it's manual, just put it into neutral if the gas pedal gets stuck. You stop moving and the engine just revs its nuts off. If the brake pedal ***** you over, just downshift to slow it down, then crank the engine into a high gear to stall it out.

If its automatic, just put your foot under the pedal and wedge it back up. There's also and emergency brake in every car.

seriously no one knows how to operate their ******* vehicles.

You do know these types of days are made to bring awareness of the past and present inequalities and to celebrate how far things have come. BTW this is INTERNATIONAL Women's Day, it is to bring awareness at how much work still needs to be done to bring equality to women on the global level.

I don't see how giving a day to a specific group of people or their cultures is an indication of their weakness

Is this really necessary?
I looked it up, because I just now learned about this. They have a whole professional site about National Women's day.
I understand that women are fighting back against oppression and misogyny and all that stuff. But making it a goddamn holiday is just plain un-needed.
#81 to #58 - kcits (03/08/2014) [-]
I don't think it's a national holiday, but hell if I know. I think someone just said, "This would be a good idea," and no one paid attention. No woman I know would have known, if it wasn't for Facebook. But it's not fun being **** on by jokes like that all the time. There's a men's day, and apparently people are butthurt about THAT.
#74 to #58 - grandmabetty (03/08/2014) [-]
Apparently there's an international men's day too, in November.

That's kept rather quiet though, they don't want you to know about that holiday.

It's probably because men make better car accidents.
User avatar #120 to #74 - disniggahere (03/08/2014) [-]

User avatar #95 to #93 - Sethorein (03/08/2014) [-]
generally it should at least inconvenience you in some way before you should feel the need to try to put an end to it... Are girls taking a day to talk about how awesome they are really that big of a problem?
User avatar #99 to #95 - breastestvillainy **User deleted account** (03/08/2014) [-]
Welp, it's annoying. I'm sure you can agree.
Although it may not have been completely necessary, I feel that I should have reason to question a holiday (It is considered a holiday, by the way) that's about women celebrating the achievements of themselves.
It seems... Pompous.
User avatar #101 to #99 - Sethorein (03/08/2014) [-]
we have an international men's day too y'know... it's just a break from the monotony of the day to day. There are no parades for this holiday, schools still run, it's not like it's bloody christmas. What's even annoying about it? That girls on facebook are putting up links that highlight women's accomplishments? It's not like an "international, let's cull the cis male scum day"...
#103 to #101 - breastestvillainy **User deleted account** (03/08/2014) [-]
So there is an international men's day as well...
Well that changes some of my thoughts on the whole situation. That still doesn't mean I no longer think it's pretty unnecessary to have a holiday about one's gender.
User avatar #106 to #103 - Sethorein (03/08/2014) [-]
Well what makes it into the realm of events that you'd deam legitimate? Like, black history month, gay pride, flag day... What's the scale of validity here?
User avatar #107 to #106 - breastestvillainy **User deleted account** (03/08/2014) [-]
Never said those weren't unnecessary in my opinion as well. I'm not just targeting these gender holidays.
Many holidays are pretty unnecessary if you think about it.
User avatar #110 to #107 - Sethorein (03/08/2014) [-]
while I applaud you on consistency, damn our world would be boring if like... the only days we ever made holidays were religious ones and like... memorial day...
User avatar #111 to #110 - breastestvillainy **User deleted account** (03/08/2014) [-]
You got me on that one.
I dunno, when it comes to gender and sexual orientation, I just don't think it's something worth making a holiday over.
#12 - infinitereaper (03/08/2014) [-]
Now I'm not saying that women can't drive, but listen to this,
My Mother has been in car accidents 3 times in her entire life, one time was my fathers fault, he was sleeping and woke up freaked out and rammed us the side of an oil truck, that was the first time I escaped death
There were two more,
one was we got hit at 25 miles per hour on the side
the other was leaving a school

Now all those accidents weren't my mothers fault
but guess who hit my mother's car both of those other times?

so I dunno, maybe it's just biology, women and men have different centers of gravity for example, or maybe it's all ********
User avatar #30 to #12 - wheteverlol (03/08/2014) [-]
It the way most women think and act that makes most of them bad drivers, not all however.

1. Most women think that the should have priority because of their sex. That's why they always stick their cars too far out when checking the traffic, or when leaving their parking spot.

2. Most women have it hard to do one thing at the time and think about all kinds of stuff while driving (or checking stores).

What I'm getting at is that women that have a mindset of a man drive better, from what I've seen.
#48 to #30 - anon (03/08/2014) [-]
From scientific analysis, women are better multitaskers:
Aside from people's personal experiences, women are statistically better drivers:
Call me what you will, but your sexist views based upon petty evidence of only your view is not valid.
User avatar #54 to #48 - wheteverlol (03/08/2014) [-]
Also note that both of my sister's crashes were with stationary targets, one with a road light and the other on some kind of wall. These things don't get accounted in statistics.

Call me what you will he sais, and then proceeds to call me sexist for stating what I've seen so far.
User avatar #65 to #57 - wheteverlol (03/08/2014) [-]

No female drivers for the past decade have managed to qualify as a F1 driver, how's that for research?
User avatar #60 to #57 - wheteverlol (03/08/2014) [-]
I never said I base what I said from my research. Are you realy expecting everyone talking on the internet to do research on everything before stating his beliefs?
User avatar #49 to #48 - wheteverlol (03/08/2014) [-]
I know that women are better multitaskers, I'm pretty sure everyone knows that.

The statistics are based on crashes and violations and as I said crashing (and violating the law even moreso) is not the way to see who drives better. If we had a contest in which a thousand contestants from both sexes had to drive on certain speed and avoid hitting things, I think from what I've seen so far men would win.

And yes my "sexist" views are based on what I've expirienced. My grandfather had a record of no crashes in 50+ years of driving. My father has one crash and that was because of ice on the road. I have no crashes yet in 2 years of driving. My sister has 2 crashes in 4 years of driving and my mother I think has 4 or 5. And the list goes on and on with friends and relatives.
User avatar #33 to #30 - hoponthefeelstrain (03/08/2014) [-]
Teenage boys are charged more on car insurance because they get in crashes more.
#127 to #33 - anon (03/08/2014) [-]
Actually they charge teenage boys more, not because they get in more crashes. It is simply because men tend to get in higher priced crashes and speeds, whereas women end up in "slow speed"...fender benders...parking lots *bumps. This ends up being the case till, depending on the insurance reach a certain age somewhere between 25-30 or ( for some companies) they become fathers or get married (most companies). I guess statistically they are safer drivers when there is more at stake. *shrug But hey...both sexes get mark downs for grade point average as well, so study hard. lol
User avatar #41 to #33 - wheteverlol (03/08/2014) [-]
That's because teenage boys like speeding.
User avatar #43 to #41 - hoponthefeelstrain (03/08/2014) [-]
if women were worse drivers they'd also have higher car insurance.
User avatar #44 to #43 - wheteverlol (03/08/2014) [-]
Yeah, the moment an insurance company decided to change their plans and have women drivers pay more money all hell would brake loose.
User avatar #46 to #44 - tgbacon (03/08/2014) [-]
Actually women's insurance rates are going up and men's are going down so it's starting to equalize.
User avatar #45 to #44 - hoponthefeelstrain (03/08/2014) [-]
Not if the pointed it out that they did it for guys too.
User avatar #47 to #45 - wheteverlol (03/08/2014) [-]
Maybe, I wouldn't bet on that though.

Also crashes and driving bad is not the same thing. If you drive very slow you can't crash as easily as when speeding. So comparing insurance policies is not realy the way to go.
#55 to #47 - anon (03/08/2014) [-]
Okay all I'm hearing from this conversation is
"Actually there's research that says women get in less crashes"
"Getting into crashes and bad driving isn't the same. Men could be better drivers if they wanted to they just don't want to thus men are better drivers because biology."
User avatar #59 to #55 - wheteverlol (03/08/2014) [-]
Basicaly yes but as I said it's not biology its the way women and men think. Different mindset, not biology.
User avatar #42 to #12 - sergeantnovak (03/08/2014) [-]
I don't know, I'm told men have better spatial awareness, but of course are more prone to 'testosterone induced' actions. With women having lower insurance rates, they might technically be safer drivers, though they also can be dangerous for other reasons.

Men naturally have deeper vision, while women have more colorful vision. Women have generally slower reaction times than men.
But frankly I don't believe any physiological reason is much of an excuse, because you can always make adjustments to be safer on the road. Don't have the best reaction times? Drive somewhat slower and farther behind the car in front of you. Have a reckless attitude? Don't drive. Those apply to both sexes as well.

And my mom... only one because some man behind her was on his phone and rammed the back of the car.
