I call bs. I've seen him use his cape to glide a half dozen times. Short of that he could just pull a helicopter out of his utility belt.
#41 to #4 - anon (06/23/2014) [-]
Not only that but he'd probably end up breaking his bones if he tried it. The sudden decrease in velocity would be very jarring, considering he's probably reaching close to terminal velocity (~150 miles/hour or ~240 kilometers/hour). Furthermore he's actually diving headfirst which is the method of least air resistance, so he's actually falling significantly faster than he could be if he adjusted his body's position.

User avatar #26 to #21 - harryboom (06/23/2014) [-]
in this case it wouldn't have worked, a solar flair was heading towards earth tracking a magnetic trail, moving earth would have helped because the trail would have still lead to earth
User avatar #27 to #26 - avanger (06/23/2014) [-]
oh, ok thanks for the explanation i didn't watched that episode/movie
User avatar #24 to #21 - letmetouchyourboob (06/23/2014) [-]
bat's never said he COULDN'T, he just said that it wouldn't work.
plus since those planets no longer have a sun to heat them, im like 90% sure everyone on them is dead.
User avatar #25 to #24 - avanger (06/23/2014) [-]
Then i got it wrong but second one can be possible since planets not losing their heats instantly (like spaceships) so if superman be quick there will be heat probably. If not please explain
User avatar #31 to #25 - ragingdouchbag (06/23/2014) [-]
there are so many reasons why the planets would break or the people would die from this that i dont even know where to start.
#47 to #31 - anon (06/23/2014) [-]
What part of he did it before with no problem do you not get?
User avatar #32 to #31 - avanger (06/23/2014) [-]
yeah you're right about that
#30 to #5 - doctorprofessornv (06/23/2014) [-]
Main reason being that applying that kind of pressure to such a small area on the earth (either pushing or pulling) would not move the earth. If he pushed he would just punch a hole through the crust and eventually warp the planet, and if he pulled it wouldn't work because the chain/rope would just detach from the ground or break under all that stress.
User avatar #70 to #30 - IamSofaKingdom (06/24/2014) [-]
They had a comic where green lantern made a giant harness for him to pull it with. Holy hell are the ignoring so many issues with it. Did they even think of the most basic things like the Earth's necessary rotation or orbit?
User avatar #71 to #70 - doctorprofessornv (06/24/2014) [-]
Well the big issue with it is that if you suddenly stopped the rotation you would cause 1,000 MPH winds all over the planet that would level basically everything (because the air still keeps going even after the actual planet stopped). You'd likely also create massive tidal surges thousands of feet high, and not to mention super-massive global earthquakes associated with the sudden stop... Basically the act of moving the Earth would destroy everything you are trying to protect in the first place.
User avatar #72 to #71 - IamSofaKingdom (06/24/2014) [-]
Which is why I said it was a basic thing they didn't even seem to think about.
#52 to #30 - funnyjunkyeahyeah (06/23/2014) [-]
Lot's of people with super strength have had ways to deal this explained. The most common one is that they telekinetically support the object so it isn't compromised while they move it.
User avatar #58 to #52 - doctorprofessornv (06/24/2014) [-]
But superman does not have telekinesis, so the point is moot.
#59 to #58 - funnyjunkyeahyeah (06/24/2014) [-]

" Superman utilizes his aura by expanding it around a person(s) or object(s) to enable their structural stability when lifting or traveling with them. "

Did Batman know he was going to be falling, and have time to prepare for it? If he did, I'd say he'd have at least taken a bat-themed parachute.

Only if said god-like beings don't have weaknesses. Which unlike Superman for example, the ground isn't beaten by Kryptonite. In fact, it's not really beaten by anything in Batman's arsenal.

If you reach terminal velocity and grab onto something to break your fall, your arm will pretty much break off.

And his cape doesn't do that in this version.

Slow down with your over sized cape then grapple something, combinations.
