Siri /ˈsɪri/ is an intelligent personal assistant and knowledge navigator which works as an application for Apple Inc.'s iOS. The application uses a natural language user interface to answer questions, make recommendations, and perform actions by delegating requests to a set of Web services. Apple claims that the software adapts to the user's individual preferences over time and personalizes results.[2] The name Siri is Norwegian, meaning "beautiful woman who leads you to victory", and comes from the intended name for the original developer's first child.[3]

Siri was originally introduced as an iOS application available in the App Store by Siri, Inc., which was acquired by Apple on April 28, 2010.[4] Siri, Inc. had announced that their software would be available for BlackBerry and for phones running Android, but all development efforts for non-Apple platforms were cancelled after the acquisition by Apple.[5]

Siri has been an integral part of iOS since iOS 5[6] and was introduced as a feature of the iPhone 4S.[7] Siri was added to the iPad (third generation) with the release of iOS 6, and has been included on all iOS devices since Fall 2012.[8][9]

Pro tip: man or woman, no one has an obligation to think you're attractive or go out with you. It's called personal taste.
Personally, no matter how awesome a woman was personality wise, if she could barely move on her own, then I couldn't see myself dating her. It's just that ******* simple. Some people like fat chicks. Some people like curvy chicks. Some people like skinny chicks.
Don't give me **** for not being attracted to someone.

Well, I think people like me might have contributed to that a bit. There was this really unattractive girl in high school that obviously had a crush on me. She asked me one day, "If I like a guy, and he's not asking me out should I just ask him?" and I was like, "Absolutely not, no way, it's very emasculating to a man to be asked out." When in reality I just didn't want to turn her down.

I'm sure some men have done the same, and I'd rather it be kept the same. I do not envy women for having to turn down guys they don't find attractive.
#141 to #6 - myshipsailedwoutme (01/31/2014) [-]
Why do you assume she's not just shy or has social anxiety? Why do you assume it's because she's a girl? If you have the confidence to ask someone out directly, that's great, but don't expect everybody to be such a social butterfly. If she's more comfortable flirting or becoming friends first, what's wrong with that?

Because humans are mammals and mammals are hardwired to have the males prove they are worth mating with, because females are already valuable. So one way we show we're worth mating with/dating is that we show we're assertive and take charge, and can take risks and leaps of faith.

The way the animal kingdom works, is that if a male is not dominant enough to even try to win the affections of a female, they will not mate. So quit bitching about not getting to spread your beta seed.

Not to be the devil's advocate here, but it's because males are expected to be the dominate role.

Now you can argue all you want about how that's ******** . Regardless, the fact is that society expects males to be dominate. Mostly it comes from a lack of expressing emotions and being the head of the household/decision maker.

Because of this expectation from society, you have no idea if the guy sitting there believes he's suppose to be dominate or if he's indifferent. So if the girl asked him out and he believes in being dominate, then it might come off as an insult suggesting he's not dominate.

I know it sounds stupid, but you know fairly well that society is full of idiots.
User avatar #149 to #6 - romdomcom (01/31/2014) [-]
Because a lot of the time, if a girl asks, guys either think we're desperate or just want to have sex.
#90 to #6 - kingpongthedon (01/31/2014) [-]
Because if a dude doesn't ask a girl out it's seen as him lacking confidence which, let's face it, is probably the case anyway . A lack of confidence is the number one turn off in most women. But regardless, 9 times out of 10, if a girl is into you she'll be dropping enough hints that she might as well be asking you out. All she's asking is you to reciprocate, but with confidence. You know what you want, just ask for it.

It's base animal instinct, she wants a strong man to protect her and her children. If you don't have the courage to ask her out, what are you gonna do when there's a saber-toothed tiger at the mouth of the cave? Though I will admit, the saber-toothed tiger is often a less daunting task It's not logical, but what part of any relationship, even platonic ones, is? We've come a long way from our ancestors, but at our core we're still apes. Be the silverback, that's what she wants.
#98 to #90 - ivoryhammer (01/31/2014) [-]
If I don't ask a girl out it's because I'm not interested in asking her out.
#99 to #98 - kingpongthedon (01/31/2014) [-]
Well yeah, but that doesn't really explain why it's expected of the man to ask the woman out. Of course you're not going to ask every girl out, but when there's someone you are interested in and you don't go for it, it's probably because you lack confidence.
User avatar #115 to #99 - ivoryhammer (01/31/2014) [-]

Who said it's about gender roles? Maybe she's just shy or has social anxiety. To some people, it's just not worth the risk and if they'd rather take a more subtle approach in hopes the other person will catch on and ask them out (like flirting), there's nothing wrong with that.
User avatar #176 to #138 - Bad Man (01/31/2014) [-]
It's always been about gender roles. Even bold girls that I've met said that it should always be up to the guy to ask someone out. And shyness is no excuse. If a guy has to buck up to ask someone out, then if a girl feels the same way and nothing's happening, she should do something about it instead of waiting around.
#201 to #176 - myshipsailedwoutme (01/31/2014) [-]
Just because some girls don't do it because of gender roles doesn't mean all do. I know firsthand from my own experience and those of girls I know that it's often about shyness or social anxiety, not gender roles. Nobody "has" to buck up and ask someone out. It's not "waiting around" if you're flirting or getting to know the person in hopes that they'll ask you out. If they don't, oh well, it's your loss. But nobody is obligated to do anything. Asking someone out isn't a responsibility.
