I mean... just playing devil's advocate here, but civilized countries have much lower birth rates, which could theoretically be countered through immigration. At some point, an aging populace will become a detriment, as the median age climbs ever higher.

I agree that it seems like that is what would happen but disagree with you on a solution as the immigrant population increases the country takes a rather large cultural swing and the tax paying demographic goes directly in the ******* leaving the indigenous population unemployed and weakened due to tax loss. Not to mention the swing in religious / moral belief systems that will damage future growth and stability. You import a ton of poorly educated people with a dramatically differing moral code and think that the difficulties of integration won't outweigh any possible benefit they might provide? That is just short sighted. By the time their children or their children's children finally integrate your back at the place where you started and have to repeat the entire vicious cycle. No thank you, i think i'll take the Japanese solution and stick to our own people or highly selective immigration policies.

Simple Economics:
In their country there isn't a demand for unskilled labour. In the country they go to there are jobs that they are willing to do for less money than the domestic workforce. This makes companies more productive as their marginal costs go down; this makes them sell at a lower price - meaning people can buy more. The result is economic growth.

Our capital moves there as well - for example, over $92.8 billion dollars was invested in mexico by US firms in 2015 ( fas.org/sgp/crs/row/RL32934.pdf)
Sure there are repercussions in the short term like frictional unemployment - that's where its the government's job to provide schemes for retraining and providing incentives for job creation. Especially with good government and institutions, the positives overwhelmingly outweigh the negatives. Immigrants aren't to blame, they are just incentivised by the invisible hand of the free market.

IF every company were selling out their jobs to "cheap wetbacks" and "half the domestic workforce" was unemployed, immigration of cheaper labour would still effect growth as more goods would be made and purchased by your common american which is the definition of economic growth.

It might interest you to know that only 4.1% of the US workforce is unemployed ( data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000) where an estimated 2% is generally accepted as being due to people being in between jobs (frictional unemployment) which isn't regarded as real unemployment as it isn't a problem.

Furthermore at the most generous measure, only 3.6% of Americans face competition from immigrants in full-time and part-time jobs cis.org/Impact-Mexican-Immigration-Wa... Whereas the rest of the population receive the benefits of this competition as it drives down wages and thus prices. A pretty good trade off as things go.

middle east in an exception. when you have people who long towards something as idealistic as the american dream and come to a country to work hard and make a better life for themselves compared to the poverty they hard in their original country thats when it can be a good thing

vikings who went to England and northern france were Norwayfags and Danishfags

the ones who settled and looted said settled places in Russia and traded in the middle east were Swedish ones. So we both had a bit of the same yet different approach to our tribal ways.

norwegian vikings also were in Rus and the middle east. most of the vikings in russia were swedes though. Probably the most famous norwegian in russia and constantiople were Harald Hardrada, who were exiled and traveled to Kievan, later became the leader of the Varangian guards in constantinople and later raided constantinople, became king of norway and then died in the battle of Stamford bridge when he tried to conquer england. His death marks the end of the viking age.
