No, it was quite bad if you are even semi-erudite in philosophy, politics or history. You think you can **** with the flying whale? Nope. You can't.

Beautiful movie, but it throws me into a RAGE when I see people using it to justify their extremism. In the comic V had a raging hard-on for anarchy, justifying it because of what happened to him. He flat out murdered innocents for his goals! Now in the movie he was more after revenge and toppling a fascist government. That's what it was in the end: Not sacrificing your freedoms for the sake of security. Not "HURR GO RON PAUL, HURRR DEMS/LIBERALS/REPUBS/CONSERVATIVES ARE EVIL, HURRRRR V FOR VENDETTA TOLD ME SO!"

It's funny because "fedora" has two meanings in this poem.

On the fifth, 2 people were wearing the masks and holding signs saying "Honk if you like your rights" just on an island in the road. I decided to text my friends to tell them about these idiots.....first friend replied that it was him with another friend of mine. I shook my head because they were die hard republicans, basically protesting "NO MORE GOVERNMENT, unless it is republican." the worst part is my original text to multiple people caused more people to join them.

I have this tradition of listening the Overture 1812 every five of november...

It isn't because the anarchy, it is just because i ******* love Tchaikovsky.

I can't stand these guys. For ***** sake if you're going to wear a mask called a Guy Fawkes mask, you better at least know who the **** Guy Fawkes was and what he stood for.

User avatar #79 - dosburritos (11/07/2013) [-]
I didn't think that story was much about anarchy . I thought it was more "watch what your government is doing; you have more power than you realize"
#31 - abcdxyz (11/06/2013) [-]
Warning! Opinions below!

While Guy Fawkes did want to trade one oppressive government for another, I feel the mask can make for a good symbol of anonymous protest in places where people don't want or can't have their identities shown (threat of retaliation by the government in some cases). It also can be a good symbol of a larger group of people in protest of things that they regard as oppressive. While in some countries where people don't have to fear such persecution and the mask seems a little useless, it still could be a good symbol. It's seen as more of a fedora/neckbeard thing if it's day-to-day in the West, but I don't think people felt that way when it came to protesting things like SOPA and ACTA

The holiday itself is more mixed. It was originally seen as a Catholic-hate celebration, where they would burn effigies any and all significant Catholic figures. Later it was more of a celebrating Britain surviving the plot, and even became an anti-Britain event in the Americas around the time of the revolution (People were disgruntled with the British and saw no reason they should be a still-seemingly-anti-Catholic holiday celebrating Britain) Though it's only been celebrated in England in recent years, I feel it could also become more of a celebration of the idea that people should have a say in their government.

Lastly the movie is pretty good, and I do recommend it.
