No, it was quite bad if you are even semi-erudite in philosophy, politics or history. You think you can **** with the flying whale? Nope. You can't.

I didn't do anything for, nor do I care about the 5th of November, I just know the origins of Guy Fawkes. How does that make me Autistic? He was a terrorist who wanted Catholic rule in England and was executed after the plot was uncovered. I just said she was dumb for assuming that everyone who knows about the 5th has only learned of it because they've seen the movie "V for Vendetta".

lel

The supposed "dumb bitch" didn't say that everyone who has heard about Guy Fawkes is a fedora-fondling *********.

She was simply referring to the ones that wear the Guy Fawkes masks and think they're cool and **** are ******* stupid.

You are the master of misinterpretation

Except that, the way it's worded, makes it seem like everyone who knows about the 5th is a fedora-wearing loser. I, as an Englishman, want to point out that it's part of my country's history and I'm appalled when people are ignorant of it.

... Other way around "The day guys in fedoras", she is specifying people wearing fedoras, not saying people wear fedoras knowing about this.

The way it's worded obviously implies only to fedora wearing neckbeards who watched V for Vendetta and THINK they know something about it.
She didn't say anything about guys who actually know about it.

We're taught about the bloody event in school for Christ's sake, of course people are going to know about it.

Well, then it's really only your pride in your country's history and your interpretation of the joke.

Notice how I used the word joke when referring to this post. Because that's what it is. Now swallow your pride and wash it down with a fresh glass of sense of humour,

"I, as an Englishman, want to point out that it's part of my country's history and I'm appalled when people are ignorant of it."

That doesn't imply that I'm proud of it, it implies that I want people to realize that my country's history is more than just stories in movies.

i agree with you but she's probably meaning the people who have watched the movie and suddenly are all "hurr lets all wear guy fawkes masks and start a revolution!" even though they don't understand **** about revolution, how to even begin to cause one, or what the **** they'd do after when, if they by some miracle succeeded, another country just comes over and takes us over.

In England, the 5th of November is Guy Fawkes/Bonfire/Firework night which is the anniversary of some night when a guy was arrested for trying to blow up The House of Lords in London to kill the King.

Beautiful movie, but it throws me into a RAGE when I see people using it to justify their extremism. In the comic V had a raging hard-on for anarchy, justifying it because of what happened to him. He flat out murdered innocents for his goals! Now in the movie he was more after revenge and toppling a fascist government. That's what it was in the end: Not sacrificing your freedoms for the sake of security. Not "HURR GO RON PAUL, HURRR DEMS/LIBERALS/REPUBS/CONSERVATIVES ARE EVIL, HURRRRR V FOR VENDETTA TOLD ME SO!"
