Hell, a projectile weapon might be even more useful than a blaster in certain circumstances; 90% of the armor in Star Wars (save for things like Mandalorian Iron) is only designed to dissipate energy, due to everybody using energy weapons. There's hardly anything in the way of ballistic protection; you could probably do some serious damage with a gun.
