A dragon is a legendary creature, typically with serpentine or reptilian traits, that features in the myths of many cultures. There are two distinct cultural traditions of dragons: the European dragon, derived from European folk traditions and ultimately related to Greek and Middle Eastern mythologies, and the Chinese dragon, with counterparts in Japan (namely the Japanese dragon), Korea and other East Asian countries.
The two traditions may have evolved separately, but have influenced each other to a certain extent, particularly with the cross-cultural contact of recent centuries. The English word "dragon" derives from Greek δράκων (drákōn), "dragon, serpent of huge size, water-snake".

They say it's the last of it's kind in the episode. They have unveiled a new special "Primal Reversion" type of evolution in Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby versions. In both cases so far, when a pokemon primal reverts, they increase in size. It could be the last "Primal" Dragonite. That's my theory and I seriously hope they make a gigantic Primal Reverted Dragonite to match up with that episode.

That size comparison is wrong. This is taken from the show, and even then I remember scenes where the bastard is like double the size shown in the pic here.

Serebii.net lists Groudon's height as 11'06'' and 16'05'' in his primal form and Kyogre as 14'09'' long and 32'02'' in its primal form. They do increase in size and the figures are nearly accurate. As far as they appear in the anime, there was a giant Groudon robot and inaccuracies are common as far as size and coloration comes in the anime.

You're not speaking of the Jirachi movie, are you?

That wasn't actually a Groudon.

I might be, it's been a long time so I don't actually remember.

The one where Groudon had the giant blue swirly tentacles that came from his spikes was a creation of Jirachi, based on Groudon the pokemon.

It is normal in the pokemon world for pkmn to have different sizes.. Here Ash' Krabby is compared to Gary's..

Indeed. Or maybe it's a cartoon, and they were more concerned with being entertaining than having good continuity.

To the people in the comments believing it might not have been a Dragonite: It's clearly a Dragonite. Also, the subject of oversized pokemon is reviewed here: bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Giant_Pok%C3%A9mon . But the most obivous explanation to the theory that it's just a giant Dragonite is that earlier in the episode they explain that Ash's Krabby is a lot smaller than Gary's, and make a point of differing pokémon sizes.

Dragonite is Charizard's gay fat cousin.

indefinite growth, when given enough time, oxygen and space some organisms can grow to massive proportions. this is why i think many of the pokemon in the anime are bigger than the pokedex says, the dex only marks the base height

Dragonite will always be the most dissappointing looking Pokemon
User avatar #35 to #22 - fozzoul (06/24/2014) [-]
Why'd you get red thumbs for that? its frigging true. When i was a kid and my Dragonair was finally evolving, i was expecting a cool looking dragon or sea serpent or some **** . instead i got a potato lizard with pasta on its head.

Dragonite is dissapointment incarnate.

The anime is inconsistent with itself? The world must know!

But really, the size of a pokemon doesn't mean they're all the same size. Even in a few of the games there are NPCs that ask to see different sized pokemon, even though you can't tell the size at all, besides Pumpkaboo and Gorgeist.

true story
pokemon just get bigger the older they get

like that episode where that kid let his bulbasaur loose in the sewer and 20 years later its ******* huge and snatching food through sewer grates to live
User avatar #84 to #17 - cryoticshell (06/26/2014) [-]
Not only age, but experience. As stated when Gary meets Ash's Krabby, Gary says that his Krabby has fought in more battles, and that's why his is larger.

But Pokemon are all different sizes, especially old ones. Like in that episode where they released the giant Alakazam and Gengar from the old ruins.

There is also a Venusaur so large an entire town is built upon its back. Pokemon sizes are not limited to the dex entry, that is more of the normal or median size of a known Pokemon.

Oh we all know it is. We just don't care because we're not edgy 14 year olds going through that "hurr people that want me to buy stuff are evil!" phase.

The Pokemon games...?

Is this even a question? lol
It was just a way to kids to say "I want to have my own Pokemon adventure!"
And then go out and get their parents to buy their games.
