The cat thing was actually shown to be false. The people who were very close to death were given heated blankets, and the cats, well you know, liked sitting on the warm blankets.

"Shown to be false" also known as "an episode of House"
#150 to #118 - kambin (05/04/2014) [-]
Ok you are right. I remember that House episode now. Saw it years ago and didnt realize I took that idea from there. You caused me to look a little more. Here's what I found.

Well, it does show up on google maps, and it does look suspiciously like a person dragging a body towards the lake.

I'm reading the comments and I've come to notice that no one is talking about the fact that we have no records of ~97% of our history. Does anyone realizing how ******* aggravating that is? Same **** with the Library of Alexandria, that stuff just grinds my gears.

Day one: Gathered some berries.
Days two through seven hundred and ninety eight: Gathered those same berries.
Day seven hundred and ninety nine: Got eaten by a mammoth.

I don't think we missed much.

There could be written proof about aliens helping build **** , man. How awesome would that be? Yeah that's right, ******* awesome.
User avatar #138 to #120 - snowshark (05/04/2014) [-]
Honestly I've already come to terms with it. It's a pain, especially about Mesopotamia and other lost cultures, but that's really about it. If Aliens helped build anything on earth then all those buildings have long-since fallen down since there are only about three buildings that old left standing.

All of them are tombs. All of them are in France. If Aliens came to help teach us to build then they either came to the French and taught them to how to stack rocks and dirt in such a way that it won't fall over for a really, really, long time... or their super-advanced teaching techniques were so effective that everything fell apart already. Also, it would imply that the aliens taught humans how to build but not how to keep records of any lasting kind.

It's possible but it's also incredibly improbable. Just bear in mind how improbably intelligent life is in the first place. We are only like we are because of the mamalian brain which developed through being prey to the dinosaurs who were conveniently wiped out. After that humanity ended up developing thumbs and, unlike most primates, a high-calorie diet. From there humans needed to be forced to fight against their environment, building the tools they needed to hunt and developing language so they could communicate effectively.

There is far more to it than what I've said but suffice it to say humanity's very existence as an intelligent species is a ******* miracle in and of itself and I say screw anyone who says we're not smart enough to build our own way in the galaxy. Screw aliens. The chances that alien life exists are astronomically low, but I believe it does, but the chances of intelligent life in the entire universe evolving according to the biological laws as we understand them are so mind-bogglingly low that if they did exist it would be likely we would never meet with each other and even then, we would be so shocking a discovery to them I can't imagine them leaving no trace of having ever been here.

"This is not fake or photoshopped"
Well someone on the internet said it so obviously it must be true
User avatar #86 to #84 - vatra (05/04/2014) [-]
I'm honestly not sure why it even says that, sure the condition is rare, but not rare to the point that a lot of people would just assumed it's shopped.

No I believe the cat photo was real because I've seen things like that before, I was just making fun of the fact that he specifically said it wasn't photoshopped. As though just saying that actually means anything on the internet.

Not that rare either

Not a dead body, it's a dog coming out of the water. The red streaks are the reaction the wood had from the water

I listened to all the pop music ever as a kid. Now I'm in love with hard rock and I won't look back.
Probably because of my Dad's Led Zeppelin collection.

To elaborate on the Switzerland one:

1. It happened twice.
2. The soldiers marched half-way through Liechtenstein before THEY realised the error. Liechtenstein themselves never noticed.

The "cat" comment is false, easy enough to look up though. The cat was actually reacting to the increase of body temperature that came about prior to death. It wasn't showing affection, it was taking the proverbial spot in front of the fire. Some of the residents actually started to worry when it came near them.
#145 - elcreepo ONLINE (05/04/2014) [-]
That japanese superstition is true, the wording was just taken too literally
