It's a hands on job that nobody else wan't to do. The unsung heroes of our time.

Plus they ride on the back of giant trash compactors like they ain't got a **** in the world.

And not for nothing, but if the kid really wanted to be a garbage man then that ain't a bad job. Smelly, yes, but not bad. A year and a half of fulltime college and a three month apprentice-ship and he's making bank. They got union and everything. I think it's like 18$ an hour pay and 3$ an hour towards your retirement fund. People may look down upon you, but you're a NEEDED part of our society.

it ******* sucks though. my dad works there too, but is off sick and trying to get back on. But my bitch of a boss wont let him, and she is steadily driving my parrents into a state of welfare. He had a heart attack on the job, because of an earlier issue that weakened his heart, and being overly stressed and pushed too hard when he returned.

So yea, my dad almost died, my parrents are on the verge of losing their home. while im sacrificing my future, savings, and education to save them.

He's only 2 years away from retirement too.

oh and 20$ an hour jobs arent that great/ don't pay well enough to live comfortably. go to school, aim for a job that pays 30$+ an hour.

Everyone is different to an extreme extent (due to their genes, upbringing and, finally, personal choices), and due to this we will never see a world where perseverance and, above all, intelligence (as exemplified by the discrepancy between you and me) will be equal among most.

I think you have an extreme misunderstanding of just how massive our genreation is in comparison to the baby boomers. We're bordering triple the size of the baby boomers.

If everyone could better their lives, economically, we would all be ****** over. I'm not saying there isn't enough money, but I AM saying the wealth will NOT be distributed in our favor.

In that case you do not understand the simplest principles of economics: wealth creation/natural wealth distribution, and supply and demand (as it applies, in this case, to workers).

The more people will work the more certain jobs will be needed. Let's say everyone goes full on autistic and becomes an engineer (or, more generally, an applied scientist), then three sectors will skyrocket in demand: theoretical sciences/philosophy (for the creation and sharing of ideas), manual labor (for the menial tasks like cooking, cleaning, and whatever) and arts/culture/entertainment (since we need fun and emotional and intellectual challenges (often termed "cognitive play") to grow as individuals).

Now, this means that the demand for engineers will be low. They'll receive salaries of $20'000 per year (if they're exceptionally good and lucky), while a cook will receive offers of $100'000 per month just to cook a ******* mac and cheese.

I'm obviously exaggerating, but that is how economics work.

Onto my second point: the more wealth is created, the more jobs are required to produce the products or services in demand by the rich guys who make money. Usually, the richer a country is, the more money goes into leisure (just think of Hollywood).

So, no, the idea that bettering everyone's lives economically is a bad move in the end, is tired, old and very, VERY wrong.

I worked as a garbage man a year ago, (didnt drive, just collected garbage cans) and some dudes where ******* lazy, they didnt even bother to check some bins becsud they are usually empty and then they got complains lol. But t was boring as hell to ride around i the suburbs because i had to walk after the truck with the bins every street.

And then they changed trucks where you couldnt see the garbage anymore as you squeezed it in the truck

One time a plastic bag full of rotten food exploded when i pressured it and i got a little in my mouth
