Dragon Claws(At least whne they came out) deals decent amount of damage, but their special move makes them hit 4 times in a row in about a second.
you could do this twice, and "Pure" builds used this to maximum advantage.

I think they let the lag on purpose. Just think about how easy it is to parry npcs as soon as you get the hang out of it. If the lag was fixed everyone would just run around with hornet rings and stuff.

Better than pyromancy. With Firestorm in DS2, I get hit with pillars that I'm clearly ten feet or more away from. Doesn't help that they buffed casting speed so much.

Ah, thought you were talking specifically Dark Souls.
Well, this post is about Dark Souls, though. And the large weapons, though slow, do good damage, can stun (make them stumble) the opponent if they hit if said oppeonent doesn't have good armor, and have a large swing, sometimes including directly behind them.

Everything I play, I always play the hyper-aggressive offense character that can hit really fast but doesn't have much in the way of defense.

Scout in TF2
Marathon and Lightweight in MW2
Cammy in SF4

The only exception is Dark Souls, weirdly enough. I always use a sword and shield build with medium armor.

The inconsistency of enemy lag levels makes it impossible to know when the right time to roll is,and they will usually either stunlock you to all hell or poison you or whatever, losing you the battle.

I disagree with you is all. I've been doing a lot of PvP (It's what I resort to if I take too hard of a death in PvE) I have never had any issue dodging the magic.. Hell, Mages are some of the easiest fights since a lot of them are squishy.
Though the lag with rapiers has gotten me more than I'd like to admit.. Still not good at dodging anything that has a forward lunge. (But I believe in me... eventually... Enough death solves every problem.)

Greatsword PVP-ing isn't that hard.
If you pay attention to the movement pattern of who you're fighting, you can trick them into rolling too early, and slam them before they can roll again.

Let you in on a secret before you find out hard way. Your poise is about as useless as a bible in a whore house. You can stunlock a Havel armor set second hit with your fists and the ring that does +poise dmg.

I pretty much switched my armor to cosplay and swapped to power stancing caestus because of it.

That was to just show you a good example of a poise test in havels. Plus with the new Soul Memory system, there isn't really much room to experiment too much unless you intend to roll a new character for dedicated invasion/pvp.

Pretty much the new poise is there to help mitigate the stun more than stop it. Here is a tip for you, tap your roll when you get stunlocked to break it faster cause for some reason the stunlock has less effect on the backstep than rolling.
#136 to #133 - deadrifler
Reply 0
(04/10/2014) [-]
No I was warning you that in Dark souls 2, the poise doesn't help much. You will get stunlocked by low poise dmg weapons(Fast weapons) in best case scenario the 3rd hit, typically on the first or second hit though. It is why so many players are using the new thing called power stance(If you equip two weapons that have the same dmg type IE. slash, crush, and are within one size difference[Ultragreatsword can powerstance with a greatsword, but not a longsword] it converts your Parry and Block into two more unique attacks. For caestus it turns your guy into a boxer who does a quick 1-2 jab or for standard attack and the heavy will do a spinning haymaker esque attack.

I know with greatsword and ultra greatsword, the heavy attack become two vertical strikes(slightly harder to dodge) but I can't remember the fast attack.
