Dragon Claws(At least whne they came out) deals decent amount of damage, but their special move makes them hit 4 times in a row in about a second.
you could do this twice, and "Pure" builds used this to maximum advantage.

I think they let the lag on purpose. Just think about how easy it is to parry npcs as soon as you get the hang out of it. If the lag was fixed everyone would just run around with hornet rings and stuff.

My connection is far from perfect, but if yours bad enough that you can use it as an excuse for giving away all your souls, then it sounds like you have bigger problems than losing in PvP

User avatar #93 to #45 - bababadsheep (04/10/2014) [-]
I have only had one bad experience with lag. The netcode is way better in DS2, unless you and your opponents are playing on >McDonald's Wifi, you shouldn't be getting lag all the time.

User avatar #47 to #45 - whywouldyoudothis (04/10/2014) [-]
Especially if they're facing the opposite direction from you. That's like a guarantee that it is about to hit you.
User avatar #46 to #45 - whywouldyoudothis (04/10/2014) [-]
You just haven't been in the forest enough. The same concept for dealing with lag has carried over to Dark souls 2.. If they make an attack roll as if it's about to hit you... because it IS about to hit you.
User avatar #48 to #46 - checkemtrain (04/10/2014) [-]
The inconsistency of enemy lag levels makes it impossible to know when the right time to roll is,and they will usually either stunlock you to all hell or poison you or whatever, losing you the battle.

Try harder
User avatar #49 to #48 - whywouldyoudothis (04/10/2014) [-]
I disagree with you is all. I've been doing a lot of PvP (It's what I resort to if I take too hard of a death in PvE) I have never had any issue dodging the magic.. Hell, Mages are some of the easiest fights since a lot of them are squishy.
Though the lag with rapiers has gotten me more than I'd like to admit.. Still not good at dodging anything that has a forward lunge. (But I believe in me... eventually... Enough death solves every problem.)
User avatar #50 to #49 - checkemtrain (04/10/2014) [-]
Well then your the luckiest guy in the whole pvping community, because no one else has the the insane amount of luck with matchmaking as you do friend.

Greatsword PVP-ing isn't that hard.
If you pay attention to the movement pattern of who you're fighting, you can trick them into rolling too early, and slam them before they can roll again.

User avatar #132 to #80 - deadrifler (04/10/2014) [-]
Let you in on a secret before you find out hard way. Your poise is about as useless as a bible in a whore house. You can stunlock a Havel armor set second hit with your fists and the ring that does +poise dmg.

I pretty much switched my armor to cosplay and swapped to power stancing caestus because of it.
User avatar #133 to #132 - walcorn (04/10/2014) [-]
I know poise isn't everything if that's what you thought I believed.
Hell, the build I did best with had maybe 6 poise in total.
But I usually have enough poise not to get stunlocked by the quickest weapons.
User avatar #139 to #138 - walcorn (04/10/2014) [-]
I try to avoid Gameplay videos so I know as little as possible when I start playing.
It's more fun to experiment and find out things yourself
User avatar #141 to #139 - deadrifler (04/10/2014) [-]
That was to just show you a good example of a poise test in havels. Plus with the new Soul Memory system, there isn't really much room to experiment too much unless you intend to roll a new character for dedicated invasion/pvp.

Pretty much the new poise is there to help mitigate the stun more than stop it. Here is a tip for you, tap your roll when you get stunlocked to break it faster cause for some reason the stunlock has less effect on the backstep than rolling.
User avatar #136 to #133 - deadrifler (04/10/2014) [-]
No I was warning you that in Dark souls 2, the poise doesn't help much. You will get stunlocked by low poise dmg weapons(Fast weapons) in best case scenario the 3rd hit, typically on the first or second hit though. It is why so many players are using the new thing called power stance(If you equip two weapons that have the same dmg type IE. slash, crush, and are within one size difference[Ultragreatsword can powerstance with a greatsword, but not a longsword] it converts your Parry and Block into two more unique attacks. For caestus it turns your guy into a boxer who does a quick 1-2 jab or for standard attack and the heavy will do a spinning haymaker esque attack.

I know with greatsword and ultra greatsword, the heavy attack become two vertical strikes(slightly harder to dodge) but I can't remember the fast attack.
User avatar #81 to #80 - huffe (04/10/2014) [-]
oh okay. in dks 2 it'd make sense, because everone spams magic, and almost nobody parries, but in the first one you've just been lucky. slow weapons are very easy to parry on first swing
User avatar #142 to #71 - doldis ONLINE (04/10/2014) [-]
Everyone knows that the halberd's where its at. I used to kick ass on a character using only the halberd 2-handed style combined with pine resin. I just stacked enough heavy armor and poise to tank through most other weapons while I stabbed the **** outta people with the halberd, all the while normal rolling ofc.
User avatar #144 to #142 - walcorn (04/10/2014) [-]

I'm in Diamond and they're a pain in the ass even here when you assume that everyone knows how to 'deal with OP champs'. Some champs just can't be dealt with to be quite frank, I have played my share of Riven too and found her skillcap is pretty low considering how much power she has. When she hits 6 she auto wins lane, sometimes even against a Renekton as long as she knows to auto between each ability her damage is monstrous.
