"I don't need it mailed, just give me the code thanks!" Most, if not all, gift cards have a code you can redeem online, or in store. Like Walmart for example. Or tell them to mail it to your state address and that you are just visiting on business.

I'm on vacation right now, and noticed the card had expired. Would you be able to send it to where I am and will be for the next two months? Or it was a gift for someone, but it appears the card has already expired?
User avatar #160 to #1 - sandpounder (01/31/2015) [-]
its not a replacement card. The cards dont actually have any value, its their ceriel number in the company that made them or something. Basically the company can electronically un-expire your card. I often forget about gift cards and I live in California so I've called them to un-expire some.

How dare someone eat food that they bought at a movie theater at the theater that they bought it at, just like the businesses that are movie theaters intend for those people to do. You should go to a theater with the idea that when you see a movie there, nothing is going to revolve around what you want it to be like, or anything besides how ******* public movie theater is going to be

I work in retail and pretty much always know what's going to be on sale for the upcoming one or two weeks. Although I guess it differs from store to store. The person who wrote this must've been working in a similar store as I am.

Also it happened a few times that I just flat out told the customer that the item would be on sale the next week if they're nice people.
#388 to #46 - anon (01/31/2015) [-]
But it's true man. Just cause they don't tell you doesn't mean it's a ******* lie, you bloody fool.
User avatar #393 to #46 - ergexgo (01/31/2015) [-]
but i know about 2 - 4 weeks in advance about my store's sales o.o
User avatar #395 to #46 - sjanger ONLINE (01/31/2015) [-]
Used to work in retail, always knew a week before what was going to be on sale. But because we got bonuses based on our sales, I never told any customer about it, unless it was the day before it went on sale, and they were really nice to me.
#208 to #46 - anon (01/31/2015) [-]
The factoid runs correct with me. I worked at an outlet store, Barney's New York in chicago. In MY experience, my manager told all the salesmen when our promotions would be a week in advance and managers knew a month in advance. This was for personal and family use. We were NOT ALLOWED to tell general customer's about future promotions precisely, because typically in the cloud nine of high end retail they'll still be in the mall or in the area in the near future but if you tell them "no" today they're likely to still pick up their product at full price because rich people are disgusting and loaded. I, however, was cool and simply told anyone who inquired, although my store is only promotional during the holidays. I think it depends on how the manager's spread the word if they even feel like it.
User avatar #96 to #46 - chozoscout (01/31/2015) [-]
I know exactly how you feel.People would complain to managers if i didnt tell them what was going to be on sale.99% of the time we didnt know.
#225 to #46 - landcucumber (01/31/2015) [-]
So many are so wrong I though they were doing it on purpose.
I was department head at a home depot and I didn't know **** . some lady with a cart computer just walked around and changed prices. I didn't know what was on sale tell I noticed myself or there was a sign. the furniture one is not true high end furniture comes assembled. sometimes they have to screw on legs. I got mu collage books of amazon for way cheap and didn't have to pay international shipping. Tax one is true if you don't have anything complicated like owning your own business. Food tax one depends on the city and state. I valet park my car all the time, never had a problem. I give them a spare i keep with me. car records how many miles are put on it by each key. they have never gone more than .5. and if they were to take my car out for a ride, go for it. no one has the balls to actually do it. Oh and here all the air things are free anyway.
User avatar #129 to #46 - fiveblackmen (01/31/2015) [-]
This was one of the many reasons I hated working in retail. I would get the price change sheet only about a day before they went into effect. This was almost as bad as the people who would come in and try and haggle. Half of what is on this comp is ******** .

#47 to #26 - bann (01/30/2015) [-]
Seriously, you'd have to be the most condescending douche in the world to think that it's worth their time to fix your problem. Also, how the **** are you going to call the CEO? Is his number on facebook or something?
User avatar #114 to #47 - killingalice (01/31/2015) [-]
I used to answer the phones for Wal-Mart. People would try this **** waaay too often, usually 5-6 times a day I remember one time I went to my manager all excited because I'd only had 2 people scream at me all day . I worked with a lady who would regularly just say "no" then hang up. You can't call the CEO directly for really any company. Typically you have to call the corporate number and get transferred through 100 people who decide if your call is important enough.
#115 to #114 - bann (01/31/2015) [-]
You're a brave soul for answering phones for a large corporation, I can barely stand helping people make reservations.
User avatar #122 to #115 - killingalice (01/31/2015) [-]
It wasn't easy at first. When I started I would stutter and transfer almost every call to someone else, then I realized it was 1,000 times easier than dealing with people in person because you can just hang up if they bother you too much.. Or put transfer them to an area with a broken phone.. Or put them on hold forever I actually had a lady stay on hold for 3 hours once, then her husband called in on another line and I put him on hold for another 2 before hanging up on them to clear the lines .

I actually have a response to this one.

My father is an inventor, and he and i regularly attend meetings for a society that sometimes bring in guest speakers who are also inventors.

Last month they brought in the inventor of the furby, among a few other well known toys , and one of the things he said that stood out during his early days was that if you wanted to reach a higher up of a company, and you were just starting out without much notoriety yet, call them in the very early hours, before most employees get there. usually the higher ups are the first to show up.

I'm not saying it's the best idea for a customer wanting a refund, nor have i tried it myself, but if the inventor of the furby did it for places like tyco, target, fisher price, etc. then it could possibly work.

DON'T ask big chain retailers, like Walmart, etc, for **** . As in, do not ask the employee. Ask MANAGEMENT. Employees can't do **** without management, and you will skip ass loads of work just going straight to management, or having someone go get a manager. It may worry an employee a bit, but you'll save some hassle in the end.
User avatar #258 to #10 - elcreepo ONLINE (01/31/2015) [-]
Well, you can ask us to show you where the items are, and PLEASE ask when something you want is on a cap shelf.

Other than that though, if it's a question that you know a manager is needed to fix, don't ask me to do anything but fetch. Saves us both time and hassle.

ALSO: No, it is NOT in the back, the boxes, or the overstock bins. The only stuff that's in there is overstock. On truck day we will tell you to wait a day or two, or if we have a spare moment, we will see if we can find it if we know where the boxes containing it is, but generally the answer will always be no. And if you're an asshole you can forget about me trying to find your packet of glitter.

I work at a gas station with an air machine. We don't own the air machine. It was put there by another business who profits from it and we have no access to the air. We don't turn it on and we don't empty the money at the end of the month. The station gets a small profit for allowing it to be on the property just like the businesses who do the sticker and candy machines.

It depends where you valet. I'm a valet who only does multi-million dollar events in the Los Angeles area and we park cars mostly in the $100k+ range. We had to sign a contract saying that if anything is missing or damaged it comes out of our pocket. We would not risk monumental damage to amazing cars or risk stealing anything. If you're valeting for a ****** mall or something, yeah, they don't care. But then again, most of us on here probably don't own Ferraris and rolls royces

I'm a valet as well. I know they're are a ton of negative stereotypes about us, but I bet you can agree that most, if not all, of the guys you work with are happy enough with the job and what they're making that they wouldn't even think of stealing or driving recklessly. Also, for anyone that has the chance to be a valet, it is the best college job ever and I highly recommend it.

No... Just... No... I've worked retail all of my professional career and I can tell you this is absolute ******** . We are NOT ALLOWED to know the sale prices before the next week, most of the time the customers with the Saturday paper know the sales before WE do. The reason? Because they don't want us using that knowledge to plan a shopping trip and double up our savings with our employee discounts, they want the customer who makes $70,000/year to get the sales before their employees who only scrape by with about $10,000/year...

People like you are the reason other people yell at retail workers just because we're trying to do our jobs and a little tip... When we say "I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do." 9 times out of 10 we really are sorry because there really is NOTHING WE CAN DO!!!

Yeah, though, most stores don't release sales early. You can find em out..if you make some friends, but things like that can lose people jobs. Just like buying products before they're "released". It happens, but it gets people in trouble.

at least in kroger, most of the time i only realize a sale is going on after someone mentions it, then i usually have to ask a manager about it.

The last one if a ******* lie.

I used to work at a restaurant and soo many ******* kept making me ring up the total twice to see if there was a difference.

There is not.

So ******* stop it.

I dunno how it works elsewhere but i worked in a florist for a long time and if anything we REDUCED prices for weddings. The way the boss figured it they were buying a lot more flowers so we were making a bigger sale anyway. Plus the good word of mouth that came from that got us a lot more custom later on.

The difference between $1000 high end furniture is that it's made from solid fine wood like oak instead of plywood
