Ive recently started playing Skyrim just this week, ive been so addicted ive spent about 58 hours on a new character. Sadly, just a few hours ago i had a massive gear upgrade, and now im at the stage where theres no challenge left in the game, even on legendary difficulty :/

So by not working out I am actually helping other people work out?
Guess I'm skipping working out again for the greater good
User avatar #13 to #2 - thatguyblaze (02/11/2014) [-]
By not working out you make those who do workout look that much better. So thank you for your sacrifice.

somewhat big 5"9 dude weighing only about 141. Weight isn't really very useful to tell how big someone is. it can give your a general idea sometimes though.

Everytime I'm about to skip the gym I ask myself "what would Papa Jay think of me skipping the gym???" So I go to the gym and make him proud

Luv u Papa Jay!!!

My dad works in as a corrections officer and by his account, the bigger guards tend to get hassled more by the prisoners than any other guards. I guess it's a dominance thing.

"Every day you don't workout"
Are there really people who don't understand that working out itself without granting the body it's well-deserved resting period doesn't do you much good? Muscle growth doesn't happen while working out just like long-term learning doesn't happen when you read the stuff... Just saying.
#52 to #45 - thatguyblaze (02/11/2014) [-]
Rest day is the worst day
User avatar #46 to #45 - deadbyapril (02/11/2014) [-]
"Rest"....?

Oh, you mean that thing I'm doing when I sleep?
#47 to #46 - fragman ONLINE (02/11/2014) [-]
Days without exercise, periods of time between 24 and 36 hours.
This is why you don't do full-body workouts daily since the growth return for the energy you put into it is higher. Easiest way around it is to alternate muscle groups though...
User avatar #48 to #47 - deadbyapril (02/11/2014) [-]
Bro, that was a completely sarcastic comment. I know what a rest day is, my rest days are usually the weekends.

In fact I'm currently losing weight so I can go into the Navy. I've been at it for roughly 5 months and have lost 65 pounds. Trust me when I say I know the importance of a rest day, just last week I had to do simple workouts (Push-ups/crunches) for the last 2 days of my cycle because I pulled a muscle in my leg and couldn't do leg day/cardio.
#56 to #48 - fragman ONLINE (02/11/2014) [-]
Good, you'll forgive me for not being certain about that, seeing as a lot of the lifting advice on fj is beyond riddiculous.

Rest day is like chores. Noone likes them but in order to achieve your goal there's no way around it.

I haven't worked out for a single day in my entire life... I figure by now I'm so far behind everyone else that there's no point starting.
User avatar #8 to #6 - zzforrest (02/11/2014) [-]
You can literally start out any time, you know. Just take a walk every day, that's all you need to do to get started.
#9 to #8 - scant (02/11/2014) [-]
No point in walking if I have no weight to lose.
User avatar #10 to #9 - zzforrest (02/11/2014) [-]
1. Helps your heart and respiratory system function better.
2. Decent starting workout for your legs.
3. Gets oxygen to your brain which can improve your IQ and even prevent brain disease later on
4. Helps you realize just how much time you waste every day.
Take a damn walk, asshole.
#11 to #10 - scant (02/11/2014) [-]
I prefer riding my bike. Much faster then walking. Especially up big hills. I don't even need to stand up in the seat.

Yeah I do care what other people look like pretty sure you've judged someone on how they look as well.

But you've never seen me. I could be the most shredded guy on the planet from some weird genetic disorder that doesn't require working out, and you'd never know. Seems kinda presumptuous of you.

"I haven't worked out for a single day in my entire life... I figure by now I'm so far behind everyone else that there's no point starting.' No point in starting? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard and being "so far behind" proves you aren't the most shredded guy on the planet.

I was kind of making the joke that because everyone else got so many days of working out during all that time that I wasn't, they were so far ahead of me that I had no chance of catching up. Humour, right? What even is that?
Of course, then all you God damn gymrats came along and hurr durr'd all over my comment. I'm surprised that so many fitness freaks get genuinely angry when people say they don't exercise.

Working out isn't a competition as long as you aren't in the gym dicking around or haven't bothered to learn any excersises no one is going to care if you're benching 45lb or 500lb and I really don't live in the gym I only go about an hour a day if I can it's not that hard.
