Of course they moved out of Centralia, their town turned into ******* Silent Hill
User avatar #103 to #11 - nandaaz (10/17/2013) [-]
Here's what annoys me:
Centralia wasn't accidentally set on fire. Here's the story:
Somewhere early in the 1900's, they started dumping trash in the mines, because their local dumpsite was getting too full.
Around 1950/1960 some ******** thought it would be a good idea to set the trash on fire to get rid of it, without testing the mines for weird gasses.
nowadays a few people still live there, but the rest ran away because the earth began to crumble beneath their feet.

I believe silent hill is actually based on that place. Or the setting at least. I could be wrong.

Reading the caption on that picture is the best laugh I've had on this site in days. It legitimately gets funnier every time I read it.

Let me say a little bit about Centralia. There are 8 people that still live in that town and refuse to leave. The coal underneath there burning was considered "dangerous" and the Pennsylvania government has asked them multiple times to leave. They still refuse However though, the coal is actually not dangerous from the burning and the PA government is going to force them out and all the coal that's underneath there is going to be mined up in the coming years. A lot of people think that place is creepy, when in reality it's not really.

The more you know.
