Not that I agree with the 77 cents bullcrap but isn't reduced hours or demotions after paternity leave an example of discrimination? Why is it being used as an argument against a wage gap based on discrimination?
Also is this seriously the only graph thing anyone's ever made on the topic? Kind of bored of the same one after the 12th time seeing it reposted here and everywhere else.
If a woman does the same job as a man, does the man get more money?
I don't get it. I have never understood this. Isn't it illegal to give people different amounts of money for the same job?
If you're making 77% of what someone else makes and you don't report it to anybody, then maybe you deserve that 77%.
I completely agree I work with women unfortunately at the same level that I am and we all get the same pay and honestly I've never heard anything about skewed pay due to gender
Also, When I first started working for Wal-Mart, a young attractive female and I were hired at the same time. Same experience, same position, Same work load, etc. She ended up making $.50 MORE than I did.
Sure, you think" Oh 50 cents isn't that much" But add that **** up over a 40-48 hour week.
I started at $7.46 and hour, she made $7.96 an hour. Now, let's do maths.
Depending on what she claimed on her tax paperwork (I don't know, I didn't ask) Also depending on a 40 hour work week, she made $318.40* a week. Where as I made $298.40*. Alright, so $20 isn't that big of a difference right? Well not so right actually. At the time 2009, for me, $20 paid for a tank of gas in my little 1988 Toyota Camry. And since I didn't live far from work, I only filled up ever 2 weeks.
Then, when I transferred to a different department, I actually suffered a pay cut, doing twice the work! Of course that is no ones fault except maybe Wal-mart's. but the fact remains. She did less work, for more money.
TL;DR Men and women wage gap is ******** . And I'm not butt hurt about her making more than me, so don't get butt hurt when someone makes more than you for doing more work than you.

I sort of was at the time. I just get butt hurt when folks start yelling about the patriarchy and women's pay grade and all that... When in the USA, it sucks pretty hard to be a guy some times...
what do the women make in a stem job though? I'm just curious, because if they're in the same job as the men then they should make the same amount depending on the positions. Only asking because it didn't mention that in the post....I dont think.
