OK this is new, I heard a similar-ish knock from the ceiling this time... It was a lot louder and stronger and low-pitch and bassey than the other ones. It made my whole room shake. :C

rats in the pipes. call the landlord.

tell your landlord and if he doesn't believe you show him

I can't really show him as I have no idea when it will happen next. Also, the knocking is usually pretty late at night and I don't really wanna go inviting a guy over in my apartment at 2 AM to "hear some knocking in my wall" :p
User avatar #31 to #30 - grayfullbuster (08/11/2014) [-]
ok so at this point we can all agree that nothing practical will work? Right. Next time you hear the knocking find the wall its coming from and KNOCK THE **** OUT OF THAT WALL, this thing will think you're challenging it and it will appear at this point shoot it with a gun and then you win
User avatar #32 to #31 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
OK 3 things here. 1. I've already tried knocking back, nothing usually happens. 2. Where would I get a gun from? 3. If this actually is a supernatural happening, I honestly doubt a gun would work.

man i dont even know anymore. Maybe it has a really good knock knock joke for you?
User avatar #34 to #33 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
This whole thing is a knock knock joke. I just wish it would stop.
User avatar #12 - flemsdfer (08/11/2014) [-]
You probably have some sort of rodent in the walls.
User avatar #13 to #12 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
Yeah, at first I thought so too, but... I don't know, it seems unlikely. The knocking has been going on for a few years, and sometimes there's patterns in the knocking (not often though), and sometimes the sounds happen at pretty large intervals (like weeks). There's also been a few exterminators to my building before, but that's another creepy story for another time.
User avatar #14 to #13 - flemsdfer (08/11/2014) [-]
Get someone to cut your walls open and have a look see.
User avatar #15 to #14 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
I really dont have the money for that kind of thing, and my landlord wouldn't give me permission. (In fact, he'd probably punch me for even suggesting it)
User avatar #16 to #15 - flemsdfer (08/11/2014) [-]
It wouldn't be on your dime, it's the landlord's property. He'd be the one to do it, or hire someone to do it. Simple drywall work. It's not like it's major construction.
User avatar #18 to #16 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
He and I don't really get along so well, and even if we did I doubt he'd say yes because I'm hearing knocks from my wall. Not really a superstitious place where I live, at all. He knows about the exterminator checkup as well, so, can't say that.

Stick a padded object over the spot you think the knocking is coming from. If it now sounds like somebody knocking on a padded wall, then it's the spirits of the damned in the room with you and you need to get the **** out of there.
User avatar #5 to #4 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
Knocking is all over the wall, not usually one specific spot. :C
User avatar #6 to #5 - TheHutchie (08/11/2014) [-]
Then pad random spots and continue the plan as described. Pad the whole wall with clothes or thick towels or something.

Alternatively, shout at the knocking. Say, "Shut the **** up, cunt, I'm trying to sleep. You're so inconsiderate."
User avatar #7 to #6 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
Lol that's possible now that the neighbours moved out (y) will do.
User avatar #8 to #7 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
edit: bad ******* idea, tried it for fun, heard the loudest knock so far from the middle of the wall. felt like the whole room shook.

"Don't be a pussy; livestream your haunting!"
User avatar #11 to #10 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
I don't really believe in hauntings or ghosts or spirits or anything like that. My ex used to say that there's some "bad mojo" or something like that in the apartment. There's been a few other things that has happened but, there's no pattern and sometimes the stuff happens a long time apart, so recording or streaming it would be pretty useless.
User avatar #17 to #11 - TheHutchie (08/11/2014) [-]
The solution is simple.

All you need is a camera plugged into the mains sitting on a tripod, with a big memory card. Leave it recording overnight, even just for a few hours, and if you hear the knocking, make a note of the time and general location. If the knocking doesn't occur, delete the footage.

As for your "bad mojo"; that kind of rings a bell for me. There's this particular room in my grandparents' house, a spare bedroom. Nothing's ever really happened in there to my knowledge, but as a kid I was always terrified of it. The funny thing is that I've since spoken to lots of people who've visited the house who all say the same kind of thing about that room. At first I thought it was just me and my siblings, but then I found out my cousins felt the same, and even my aunt. I remember inviting a friend over, a kid who talked a lot, and just remembering him suddenly fall silent as we opened the door. He pretended he was fine, but he wasn't quite the same until the next day. Family from down south come to visit each year and they stay in that room; they say they feel a strange dread in there. It can't be that bad because they always come back. There's just a bad vibe to it, you know? A kind of gut reaction telling you not to go in.

I'm not really convinced by ghost **** either, but that room still creeps me out.

Also, I don't have a camera. (Can't afford one either) So that might be a little bit troublesome.
User avatar #24 to #22 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
Lol yeah. ^^ It's pretty troublesome, that's why I asked here.
User avatar #19 to #17 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
Yeah, I've experienced such places before too, but they never phase me. No one seems to get any bad feelings or anything in my apartment either, it's just that once in a blue moon something weird happens.
User avatar #20 to #19 - TheHutchie (08/11/2014) [-]
What kind of weird things?
User avatar #23 to #20 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
I've got a few stories about this apartment. ^^ First thing except the knocking was that my window would open by itself everynow and then. Always the same window, and it's not broken or anything. It has pretty sturdy latches that you can close, and I've tried pushing and pulling the window open when it had the latches closed, but no sir, it wouldn't budge. Anyways, it opened a few times during a 3-month period, 90% of those times the latches were closed.

That's just one of many.

Doors in my house have a tendency to lock themselves every so often. Not just keyhole doors either, we've got a cupboard with a latch that likes to lock itself overnight.
User avatar #26 to #25 - infexis (08/11/2014) [-]
I don't know if it's related or anything but there's been some kinda ****** up moments in this whole apartment building. My neighbour above me died, and there was this lady who was completely crazy, with the whole child-kidnapping ordeal....
User avatar #27 to #26 - TheHutchie (08/11/2014) [-]
I would love to continue this conversation with you, but I have to go to bed now because I have to get up for work in five hours. It sure is going to be fun trying to sleep after this chat.

Actually, in all seriousness, why don't you record it?

Like, stay up late with a video camera on, even if it's just on a tripod, and try to point out the exact spots you think the noise comes from each time it sounds. Us Funnyjunkies can analyse it later and see if there's any patterns, or if anybody recognises the sound and can identify it.

B) 2spoopy4me
C) You get killed and never post
D) It was nothing but you pretend you got killed thus adding more tension
