Oh, The places you'll go.

Irradiated High School this week. When my Dad said he had a
present for me I thoughti was getting some cheesy graduation
card, But what I received was something tns/ y priceless.
Following the ceremony he handed me a bag with a copy of ‘Oh the PIECES
Go,'' by Dieter Seuss inside.. At first I just smiled and said that it meant a
let and that I leased that book,
Batman he teld me Tlo, open it up.’ ...On the first page I see a short
paragraph written by none other than my kindergarten teacher, I start tearing up
but rm still confused. He tells me 'Every year, for the past 13 years, since the
day you started kindergarten We gotten every teacher, coach and principal to
write a little samething artyum you inside this peek.“
He managed to keep this book a secret for ears,
and apparently everyone else in my life knew ll out it!
Yes the intended wept muted... I burst em in tears,
Sitting there reading through this book there are encouraging and sweet words
from every masher I we and remember through my were in this small town.
My early teachers mention my ‘Pigtails and giggles,'' while my high school
teachers mention my 'Wit and sharp thinking...” But they all mention my humor
and less for life. It is astounding receive something this moving, touching,
nostalgic, and thoughtful,
I can' t ex ms how much I have my
Dad or this labor of love.

It's a reference to facebook screencap. A girl says her dad bought her McDonalds, a guy then responds and says his dad is dead, then the girl answers "no McDonald's for you then." something like that.

My older half sister came to stay with them because her life was **** in Nevada. After six months, my stepmother tore her apart so much, she went back to Nevada. They then took everything she had left behind, things she couldn't fit in her suitcases whilst fleeing, and gave it to goodwill. She is now considered disowned.

I'm positive my stepmonster thought, "One down, one to go" because she keeps bitching up storms at me.

I love bourbon, especially if I'm smoking a good pipe tobacco with it, never been a fan of other types of whiskey.

Even though really the only difference is barley versus corn. It just tastes better to me for some reason.

It's pretty much the mac of whisky.
While there's lots of stuff that's cheaper and actually much better in my opinion, it somehow sells for a ******* of money.

Also, I don't see the reason to have bottles of whisky stocked for an event years beforehand since unlike wine it doesn't gain anything while in the bottle...
User avatar #163 to #105 - danniegurl (01/31/2014) [-]
From what I hear, 7-10 years is best. Because if it's newer, it'll have too much bite, but older it gets woody and dry (which for a first time drinker can be too much)
User avatar #73 to #66 - pokemonstheshiz (01/30/2014) [-]
It's a really smooth and expensive blended whiskey. They still make it, but they don't make very many a year because it's carefully selected

Maybe the reason girls arent a big fan of whiskey's and such, is because their fathers never offered to drink it with them? My father was the same way as you, and 'taught' my older brother how to 'take real liqour', but when it was my turn and I turned 18 (legal dinking age in my country) the subject never occured to him until I brought it up, and even then he tought it was a bit.. uncomfortable. Its a pity, because I really would liked to get the same treatment as my brother in that case!
User avatar #34 to #12 - ennaburning (01/30/2014) [-]
To be honest, very few women like whiskey anyway, it's not a sexist thing, it's just true

Hmm, maybe in some cases, in my family both my parents would drink whiskey, though my dad definitely more than my mum. I wasn't really aware of the gender gap thing about it until I was older

One more thing I can't understand with women, great.
User avatar #43 to #42 - ennaburning (01/30/2014) [-]
It's just a very strong taste, and women (generally) have a sweeter tooth than men, not always though.

If you're buying a girl drink, just ask her what she wants, or what she was having before, I don't think many of us would think any differently of anyone because of it haha
#47 to #43 - firesky (01/30/2014) [-]
Well most girls I know drink Tequila which tastes way stronger than many Whisk(e)ys (and totally awful) imo. Peated ones and most Single Malts are stronger, tough.

The problem is that most people just know the 3 Js from the US. I can understand that girls don't like them as they taste completely awful to me, at least the standard versions you get in most bars. And after tasting them they believe every whisk(e)y tastes awful like that. The parents of a friend of mine were such an example.

I bought him a bottle of "Jameson Special Reserve" for his 18th birthday, really fine Irish Whiskey for a good price. However he convinced his parents to try it. Since then they enjoy a good whiskey every once in a while.
User avatar #181 to #47 - ennaburning (01/31/2014) [-]
Most I know drink vodka and something, or just alcopops haha

And I dunno, I'm from Scotland, so generally people are aware of what good whiskey is haha
#220 to #181 - firesky (01/31/2014) [-]
Well I have more understanding for drinking Vodka then for Tequila. Tough I have to admit I can't see the stuff since my second time ********* . Drank half a litre of it alongside with other stuff on last day of school with 30° outside. After getting home I slept for 22 hours.

Lucky you, Scotland is one of the next places I want to go to with my buddies.
I want to start in Ireland, get over to Scotland by ferry and afterwards fly home. Maybe also spend a few days in Liverpool and London, tough I'm not a big fan of England.
User avatar #221 to #220 - ennaburning (01/31/2014) [-]
The other week I was out three nights in a row drinking mainly vodka, still can't quite bring myself to drink it again yet haha

And (if you've never been to Britain before) you may as well go to England too, cross another country off (:
#222 to #221 - firesky (01/31/2014) [-]
No, I meant Tequila. Tequila hangovers are evil. I'm pretty fine with vodka as long as it isn't Eristoff, I prefer Stolichnaya

The journey is also a time thing. I'm working part time and study and one of my two buddies works full time the other one studies, too. So it's hard to get holiday at the same time and especially for a longer time frame.
User avatar #223 to #222 - ennaburning (01/31/2014) [-]
I've never been entirely drunk off tequila, I've only had a few shots of it on a night out while drinking other drinks haha, and when I can I drink Smirnoff haha, though I have had supermarket own brand vodka... Not a nice taste, but it does get you drunk!

And true, but remember that Britain is tiny, it really doesn't take you long to get around places haha
#224 to #223 - firesky (01/31/2014) [-]
My country is even smaller and a trip still can take forever ^^ (I'm from Austria)

I'm calculating with two weeks and we want to stay at least 1 week in Ireland (I finally want to see a Hurling and/or Gaelic Football match live in Croke Park) and 2 nights each in Glasgow and Edinburgh. So there's not much time left for England.

But the trip is far ahead anyway as I don't get holiday this summer.
