Fun Fact: Andre the Giant was 6'3'' by the age of 12, and couldn't fit on the local school bus.

I had always misunderstood that one until your comment
I thought Prince wanted the video to be taken down, because he wouldn't want to copyright infringe (don't know if that's the correct term) Radiohead
User avatar #26 to #16 - redthumbmaster (10/25/2013) [-]
If that was true then why are the rest of his videos also taken down? SONGS THAT HE OWNED!

Prince IS a huge cunt (in my humble opinion). He also wouldn't let Weird Al parody any of his songs or allow his songs to be used in Guitar Hero.

average NFL game length is a lie. Each quarter has 15 minutes. the clock only runs when the ball is in play (with a few exceptions).

sure the entire game takes 3 hours instead of one. but dont say that theres only 10 minutes of gameplay in an NFL game. thats a shameful overexaggeration.
User avatar #64 to #37 - balloketchup (10/25/2013) [-]
Eh I wouldn't doubt it. Take into account plays take literal seconds, usually 5-10 at the most, and the only time the clock stops is if they run out of bounds or call a time-out. Many times players choose to take a knee the last 10 mins of the 4th quarter, so it's about 2 seconds to take the knee, 30 seconds spent waiting on the next. This sounds accurate to me.

College ball ftw.
User avatar #79 to #37 - eddymolly (10/25/2013) [-]
It is around that, it obvs varies, but there was a count in the super bowl a few years ago, and it was about 15 minutes
User avatar #99 to #37 - fannypack (10/25/2013) [-]
I think what the picture means by action means after the ball is snapped, so actual play. Each play I would say is about 10 seconds long, and about 100 plays per game so about 15 actual minutes of football played not counting clock run, play calling, penalties, challenges, pre-snap, ect.
User avatar #184 to #99 - DeathKnight (10/26/2013) [-]
i dont think youre understanding that during play calling, penalties, challenges, and most pre-snap, the clock ISNT RUNNING. so that doesnt take away time from the 60 minutes that are on the clock.
User avatar #185 to #184 - fannypack (10/26/2013) [-]
No, he's not talking about PLAY CLOCK he's talking about physical time that passes as each play is going, not the play clock, actual action on the field that's what like 4 other people have been saying are you that stupid?
User avatar #38 to #37 - ithyphallophobia **User deleted account** (10/25/2013) [-]
I think 10 minutes is a bit low but I bet it's not far from it.
Don't forget that if the ball is run or there's a reception (along with other plays), the clock runs after the player is tackled.
But still like you said, with 15 mins in a quarter I think 10 minutes is still too low.
User avatar #39 to #38 - DeathKnight (10/25/2013) [-]
Yeah but also keep in mind that a) when the clock runs there is usually a play clock involved limiting the time that players have to start a play and b) teams know when the clock runs and also know that their time is valuable. When the clock runs you will definitely often see players rushing to get set up.

unless the team is intentionally wasting time from the clock but that usually happens in the last 3> minutes of the game.
User avatar #40 to #39 - ithyphallophobia **User deleted account** (10/25/2013) [-]
Well yeah of course. The "action" time is less than 60 but I think it's definitely above 10 lol
User avatar #47 to #40 - DeathKnight (10/25/2013) [-]
100%. honestly i'd estimate at 45-50 minutes. not 10.

This is incredibly weird that theres a picture of a highschool in my town on the front page. Im a highschool senior, and the fact the every highschooler in the county gets free college is pretty much true, however, there are a few guidelines. First of all, you must go to one of the more "inner city" kalamazoo county high schools, (with a college ready class thats pretty small) and you must go there starting from like fourth grade in order to get the money. Secondly, it is not just one mysterious donor, but a large group that creates the fund. Its pretty obvious who made it though, because Upjohn, which turned to Pfizer which turned into Stryker is a Multi Billion Dollar corporation with headquarters in kalamazoo, as well as one of the first taxi cab tycoons lived here. (A stryker heir graduated the year before me). For more info on this, google the "Kalamazoo Promise", its pretty weird.
#96 - joshrsliver (10/25/2013) [-]
About the Kalamazoo college thing. The tuition is actually all from A fund in which the richest people in Kzoo put alot of money in many years ago and now the interest pretty much pays for the tuition. (side note: you must attend from k-12 to qualify)
#163 to #96 - greendayspaz (10/25/2013) [-]
Not exactly. You have to go K-12 in Kalamazoo schools to get college entirely free, but if you start before high school you still get some.

So no one has gone looking for a big ass tree? Can't be that hard to miss...
User avatar #66 to #62 - justmedude (10/25/2013) [-]
It doesn't state it's abnormally large though, it could be just 1 meter bigger than the trees around it and still count as the world's tallest tree.
User avatar #69 to #62 - mitchr (10/25/2013) [-]
1 tree. Tallest, not biggest. However, let's assume it is also the biggest.
8 meters is the diameter of the bigger redwood trees, according to Wikipedia.
Now, that 8 meters is diameter. Area would be pi * 16, which would be 50.26 m^2.
The surface area of the land on Earth is 148,940,000 km^2, which would be 149 BILLION meters squared.
Even taking out the size of deserts and land that trees could not grow on, that's still far too much to find a single tree that is tallest.

My dad worked at a diner when he was a teenager, and Andre the Giant came in one day. Whenever my dad always tells me this story, he says, "That man's head was bigger than the ******* largest plate we had at the diner, and he asked for 10 hungry man specials, he was telling me how this is his brunch, after already having breakfast."

My dad is convinced Andre the Giant could eat a whole cow in one sitting after that experience.

is nobody else noticing the 0.00%?! it has to be a percentage above that ffs
User avatar #122 to #115 - noblexfenrir (10/25/2013) [-]
It means it's a negligible percent. Such as 0.004 or 0.0004 which would round down to 0.00%.
User avatar #129 to #122 - thelocksmith ONLINE (10/25/2013) [-]
fair i see your guys point, however i guess it just rattles my brain. i would have rather seen 0.004. meh. good post regardless.
User avatar #130 to #129 - noblexfenrir (10/25/2013) [-]
I see what you mean, and for accuracy sake I agree. But this post was going for "shock factor" and 0.00% catches more eyes than 0.004%. It's used in marketing all the time, no product outside of water actually has 0 calories, it's such a low amount (Anything under .5) that legally they are allowed to put 0.

and 0 calories certainly sells better than 0.345 calories.
User avatar #132 to #130 - thelocksmith ONLINE (10/25/2013) [-]
very good point! however do you sometimes think that seeing 0% is so blatantly a lie that it makes you somewhat doubt the product? i think personally i would still actually rather see the proper percentage but maybe i'm just a picky person. cheers for pointing that out anyway, makes sense!
User avatar #135 to #132 - thelocksmith ONLINE (10/25/2013) [-]
sorry, not a lie, more of a hidden percentage
User avatar #134 to #132 - noblexfenrir (10/25/2013) [-]
