i am Iraqi. i was born in Baghdad (90 km northeast Babylon). NImord, in my culture, refers to tyranny, rebellion and greed.
since it is not our times anymore, and having been known as the barbaric folks of today's world, it doesn't surprise me much that Nimrod refers to idiocy and stupidity.

Although the Bible does cite Nimrod as once being ruler of Babel (Genesis 10:8-10), it never mentions him in the story of the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9). To say he was overseeing of the construction of Babel is an extra-biblical interpretation, and should be viewed with a grain of salt. However, on two occasions he is described as a mighty hunter: heavily in Genesis 10:9 and again in 1 Chronicles 1:10. I feel his reputation of being a mighty hunter has far more biblical weight than him being overseer of the construction of the Tower of Babel.
