#42 to #11 - allinallout **User deleted account** (12/27/2013) [-]
ask 6 white people which is worse. you guys are adorable thinking black people don't ACTUALLY have problems for being black. Being black ******* SUCKSSSSS because everyone with power is still pretty much white and has been for like a thousand years. literally. a ******* millennia of white people kicking ass. honestly two millennia if you count the romans. two millennia of slavery and oppression and you assume that **** just corrects itself in 50 years.

The president of the USA, one of the most powerful men in the world (if not then most) is black and you still think that there are no black people in power.

And black people have not been oppressed for 2000 years, the enslavement and oppression of Africans by whites only lasted a couple hundred years. People of all races have been enslaving each other since humanity first existed.
User avatar #131 to #72 - coolcalx (12/27/2013) [-]
"People of all races have been enslaving each other since humanity first existed."

okay, I can't let this slide. slavery has existed for as long as we have existed, this is true. HOWEVER, ancient slavery was NOT based on race. The Romans, for example, enslaved people captured during war.

the enslavement of Africans was entirely race driven. the "White Man's Burden." Africans were enslaved because they were thought to be inherently inferior to white people.

ancient slavery and slavery of the post-enlightenment period were incredibly different, and to not acknowledge this would be incredibly naive.
User avatar #153 to #131 - xdeathspawnx (12/27/2013) [-]
when I said people of all races have been enslaving each other I did not mean that slavery was based on race, in fact I meant the exact opposite.

You write out a long response contradicting me and saying you "can't let this slide," when my comment never suggests I don't already understand the thing you are supposed to be "educating" me on.
#73 to #72 - allinallout **User deleted account** (12/27/2013) [-]
tell me that the way romans had slaves was the same way that black people were treated.
User avatar #79 to #73 - xdeathspawnx (12/27/2013) [-]
that's irrelevant, I said since the beginning of human history and then you bring up one example of when slaves were treated better thinking it will prove anything.

I don't think the way slaves were treated was right but I also don't think being black is nearly as bad as you are acting. At this point racists are treated much worse than people of any ethnicity are even close to being treated, and everyone has equal rights. We even have things like affirmative action to balance out any of the discrimination left to the point where people of all races are very close to being equal.
#80 to #79 - allinallout **User deleted account** (12/27/2013) [-]

Slavery began in the Middle East and Northern Africa. Yes, slavery was ironically started by Africans.

The Romans worked especially hard to enslave and kill off Anglo-Saxon peoples, or the ancestors to most of today's "white people." The Romans would later become they Byzantines and then eventually become Russia. You don't see white English and Americans getting pissed at Russians for enslaving them all that time ago, do you?

My people were enslaved by the Mongols, who fired giant, flaming balls of rotting animals and **** at us, economically drained by the British, who hooked our entire country on opium to the point that the Emperor was high at all times, raped and killed by the Japanese, who marched through Nanjing spearing women and babies on bayonets and killing people with swords for fun, and then they turned the Emperor into a political puppet, and then a bunch of communists tried to destroy our culture, killed almost half of our population, and persecuted many of us just for having money. ABSOLUTELY NOBODY GIVES A ******* **** ABOUT THAT!

Have the Chinese ever complained about that as much as Black people complain about being slaves for a couple centuries? Of course not. It's a frame of mind that people like you can't get out of. It's not all black people, it's just a stupid group of them that can't get over the slavery thing. Kiss my ass and stop complaining about something that happened to your ancestors. Get up and make a better life for yourself so their sacrifice wasn't for nothing.
#146 to #42 - anon (12/27/2013) [-]

The meaning behind the word is "negro," Spanish for "black." It's not ok to be called the English derivative of "Black" from Spanish, but it IS ok to be called "Black." Eventually, " ****** " would be bad and then "colored" would be right but "black" wrong. Then "Colored" wrong and "Black" right. Imagine calling a Black guy "colored" today, even though there is the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) which is still active today. Yes that makes perfect sense.

Getting offended over it is retarded, in the most literal sense of the word - "to slow down the development or progress of." Seriously. White people don't get offended over being called cracker or honkey, so it completely takes the power away from anyone who would want to huwt ouw wittle feelews. To advance, be better than your assailants. To be better than your assailants, don't let them hurt you.

User avatar #160 to #154 - icedcarbon (12/27/2013) [-]
****** is a retarded version made by ******* derived from Negro... and to be more clear, negro means "black" (or "dark" depending on what the word is used in) in Portuguese ... it is also rude to call someone "black (preto)" in Portugal, you either call him "coloured" or "negro/negra (female)".
Because of the retarded part of the american society spreading, blacks are getting more weirder with the word negro, but it won't change that it isn't an offensive word, only an asshole would think so.

"Escuro (pronounced *shkooroo* assuming 1 would try to read it in english)" also means dark, but it's not really used on people. Negro and negra is what's used.

I grew up in Baltimore city and I'm probably the whitest person to have lived in Baltimore over the past 20 years. I say ***** . To black people. They don't care. They care if you say ****** - they don't say that either - and they care about context. It's not about the word itself, it's all about context and inflection. Kind of like how it's okay for adults to swear but not okay for kids to because they don't really know how to swear and/or when it is appropriate to.
#40 to #33 - kanedam (12/27/2013) [-]
***** and ****** are pronounced differently or what?

and also, as i said in #38: if its just the context no reason to get overhyped over someone saying ****** . like the news "the n word" i mean... come on!
either its alright and just personally inadquate because of the situation or it isnt. but then nobody can claim the historical ******** to be the reason why its not alright to say it
User avatar #74 to #40 - jajathezombie (12/27/2013) [-]
Yeah they're pronounced differently.

As for the news thing, it's just because it's a word people would give them a lot of **** over. Actually you'd probably get more upper-middle-class white people enraged over it than anyone else. They get off on getting offended.
User avatar #52 to #10 - hoponthefeelstrain (12/27/2013) [-]

thats just a normal insult. there is a difference between that and saying something is a racist swear word that has deep historical meaning and therefor a large group of people is not allowed to use it. (whites, and maybe other ethnicies).

so it doesnt matter if your friends call you something worse or not, right?

User avatar #54 to #43 - hoponthefeelstrain (12/27/2013) [-]
It's a racial slur just like wetback or chink. I'm sure many hispanics call each other wetbacks as a joke but if an Asian walked up and called them a wetback all hell would break loose. Racial slurs don't belong in politics.

thats just why it seems so stupid to a lot of us... i mean, i wouldnt use the word (even if it is slightly changed) to call out to my friend if the word was used by someone torturing my ancestors.
User avatar #168 to #167 - hoponthefeelstrain (12/27/2013) [-]

User avatar #172 to #171 - hoponthefeelstrain (12/27/2013) [-]
for many people (including some that are prominent African-Americans) state that " ****** " simply means a dull, ignorant person. It does not necessarily mean "A black person", though usually when saying " ****** " in the definition I have stated above, it is referring to an African-American who acts in such a way to ruin the name of the rest of their culture; whereas variations are given to other races and ethnicies

>One theory holds that the term derives from the "cracking" of whips, either by slave foremen in the antebellum South against African slaves, or by rustics to guide their cattle.[4][5][6][7] Those white foremen or rural poor who cracked their whips theoretically became known as "crackers."

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigger

honestly I just think that's something people say black people say, I feel like it was said a few times to try to keep it from having a negative tone coming from a white person, and then everyone started complaining about how black people always say "that's our word"
That's just my opinion though.

It's more of a "you called us that word for a long ass time and we're taking it and turning it into something positive for US to use to each other." Like "my ***** " means my friend, brother ect. ****** is offensive no matter who it comes from, ***** is not that offensive unless someone you don't know calls you that.

Even if what you say do make sense, I still think it is stupid to have two such similar words and take such offence from it. Then again I do not belong to such an ethnicity that have ever been oppressed... well not in the same way anyway.

Just trying to help you understand. I don't care if white people say ***** or whatever and I don't care if my white friends call me ***** or whatever, but I don't let anyone call me a ****** . It's all about the meaning behind the word. ***** again means friend while ****** means ignorant.

It seem to be very subjective though, but oh well. Thanks anyway.

The word "cracker" was used to describe people who would "crack" their whips at slaves. So, both " ****** " and "Cracker" has slave origins, which makes me laugh every time ******* call me a cracker.
