We asked 6 black people whether ' ******* or 'cracker' is more offensive... I wonder which word they will pick.

You can't call me a 'cracker', only we can call each other 'crackers'. You can say 'cracka' but not 'cracker'.

The meaning behind the word is "negro," Spanish for "black." It's not ok to be called the English derivative of "Black" from Spanish, but it IS ok to be called "Black." Eventually, " ****** " would be bad and then "colored" would be right but "black" wrong. Then "Colored" wrong and "Black" right. Imagine calling a Black guy "colored" today, even though there is the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) which is still active today. Yes that makes perfect sense.

Getting offended over it is retarded, in the most literal sense of the word - "to slow down the development or progress of." Seriously. White people don't get offended over being called cracker or honkey, so it completely takes the power away from anyone who would want to huwt ouw wittle feelews. To advance, be better than your assailants. To be better than your assailants, don't let them hurt you.

Both words are bad, its just the media and society that forces one to be worse.

you do realize that ****** is derived from Niger a country in africa yet cracker is derived from the sound a whip makes.... right?

lets just pretend "cracker" is an offensive term for white people, for the sake of black people's egos
#25 - axtinguisher (12/26/2013) [+] (3 replies)
And here I though the term "cracker" came from the type of snacks with the same name - 'cause they're white. Please tell me I'm not the only one.

implying calling a white man a cracker hurts his feelings in anyway...

crack: the sound of what whip makes
Cracker: the guy on the horse that has a whips and cracks it on a few ******* backs.
that's a compliment more than a insult.

I think even saying 'black person' is offensive because you are calling someone black, that's like the worse thing you can call anyone...

Either way it's offensive, and I hate how some people act like words like honkey or cracker are better when it's the same idea. Don't want me to call you ****** ? Don't call me honkey, cracker, or kraut.

I'm sorry but you are being a ******* idiot here. You use the modern meaning of the word ****** , but the derivative meaning of the word Honkey. Putting them side by side properly would be this:

****** : Derived from the term "negro" which, in Portuguese literally means "black". This term originated amongst the populace of the North American colonies because using a Portuguese gentilic for blacks would have not been as natural for English speakers.
Honkey: May derive from the term "xonq nopp" which, in the West African language Wolof, literally means "red-eared person" or "white person". The term may have originated with Wolof-speaking slaves brought to the U.S

Both words are names derived from basic visual observations and a need for a name to distinguish between two entirely different broad ethnic groups. Both words are now used to degrade a person of another race based on nothing besides the color of their skin. THE REAL POINT, is the meaning behind the words. The fact that blacks have an inferiority complex is irrelevant.

Two white guys against four black people. hahahaha I see where this is going

So why do black people sometime say that "You can't say ****** , it's our word!" when originally it was white people who called them that in the first place? Does this mean that black people stole our word and now see it as their own?

Pic unrelated... I think.

This is sad, really.
Reddit is better than Funnyjunk on so many levels everything on this website is from reddit or has been posted before. I've been using this website for over 4 years and I think its time to stop.
Thank you

I want to know what they would say if they got a bunch of Chinese and Mexican people up there, that way they can have an objective point of view and it wouldn't be obvious which one they'd choose.

I'd double check your etymology.
