Basically, Guys, with heavy weapons rob a bank and then are loading cash into the car when a random police guy sees them. I was thinking to myself "LOOK AWAY, LOOK AWAY" and he did, like in that gif and they don't touch him either.
He did not play a hero like in all movies and neither did the bandits make an unnecessary kill
Saw that he was going to be able to do ******* sitting in his car with a Glock against multiple multiple masked enemies with assault rifles on foot. Seeing this, he makes no retarded attempts to open fire on them because he likes living and just pretends he didn't see anything.
I'd say it's better too, that **** is ******* grade A. I thought The Town was awesome nonetheless, but god damn dude, the performance from both Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon...
I have to admit, this is the movie that turned around my view of Ben Affleck. It was quite good, although I really don't like that they gave it a happy ending. I don't even mind that the 'bad guy' got away with it all, it's just that the way it was implemented made it feel too... stereotypically Hollywood sugary I guess.
Yeah, I'd have to agree. And even in Kevin Smith films, not everywhere. Dogma, though, was the **** .
But apart from that? Good Will Hunting saw him in a pretty good role, he's competent in his own movies, and he was... interesting in Smokin' Aces (Which still remains one of the most underrated action films I've seen.) Unfortunately I've also seen him in Gigli, and the bad taste from that lasted a long-ass time.
He was good in Dazed and confused (tho the role for some reason seems to suit him perfectly). Add that to KSmith films and that's about it for me, I hated Foreces of nature, daredevil and pearl harbor so ******* much I'll never get the bad taste out of my mouth.
But he was very good in Chasing Amy and Dogma, in mallrats he plays the same characther as in Dazed and confused only a bit older same as in smoking aces, but yeah I can accept that he had a good rol in that movie, even if a rather small one. Jeremy Piven takes the cake for that film tho, I don't like him much either you either love or hate him when he acts and he's like 50-50 about that for my taste.
I watched exactly 50 minutes of Pearl Harbor, and that was the attack sequence itself, which was really, really well-made and pretty exhilarating. The other two hours I spent in a miniature self-defense coma.
The effects are great, but the whole "heroes" thing with the stars of the film made it ****** , I like stuff like Saving private ryan or Band of brothers/the pacific.
My favourite war films are, platoon, apocalipsis now and full metal jacket besides SPR of course, I believe those show you the real deal, maybe you see some heroic action taking place but it's made in full panic, with PTSD right around the corner and it will probably cost the life of who's performing it, as it would be in real life, pearl harbor was full on rambo film with some ww2 references.I prefer the beach scene in SPR where you see everyone dying and some lucky bastards you see getting out of the beach are your stars and they all have personalities and **** , not a ****** love story hidden behind some planes flying around shooting each other.
If you like war films, I can very highly recommend a Russian film called 'Come and See.' I honestly feel like Saving Private Ryan (similar to some of the others you mentioned, except for Apocalypse Now which is in a category of it's own) was a good movie but still a pretty glamorous sort of Hollywood rugged look at the war. Come and See has no glamour at all, it's quite possibly one of the most psychologically heavy movies I've ever seen, but holy **** is it good.
I'll have to look it up then.
It does have that hollywood thing, but still it shows a lot more of the reality of the war than most films.
And Apocalypse Now shows you what PTSD can do to soldiers while they are still there like turn into killing machines that take no side, when the guy finds his father it's just crazy as **** , I love it.
All Oliver Stone war films show you his view on things during the war but Platoon is just plain fantastic, you see the real deal that a grunt had to go thru Nam like hey this guy's a really tough mother ****** I should follow his lead but then suddleny hey! there's drugs and beer here, this will help me get thru this hell much better! And the fear dude, the fear in everyone when they knew they were going to be attacked or just simply walking thru the jungle fearing a booby trap in every step, like you don't see that in many films and also it's war so there's no love story who has time for love during war? unless you're with someone who's in danger you don't give a **** about love except maybe to escape with your mind for a moment.
The bank robbery in Heat was based off of the North Hollywood shoot out.
And most good bank robberies are. But most good bank robberies don't make for good cinema, but because they rarely involve shooting.
This scene is so cool and makes mores sense than what 90% of action movie directors would have done. of course you don't take on like 5 guys with assault rifles when you're alone.
