Yeah, me too. It's even funnier knowing that I'm Mexican-American and when I see Americans or canucks claiming they're native and saying **** like this, I can't help but think I probably have more indigenous blood than they do. Hell, I've seen people who are bone white with blue eyes and light hair, yet go around acting like they're 100 percent native.

I know what ya mean. Although I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of Americans have some ties to Native Americans, but how those ties came to be may be a question they don't want to ask.
User avatar #44 to #31 - commontroll (05/13/2014) [-]
Well, I know mine came from a guy marrying a Cherokee chief's daughter. Then he was killed by two assholes for said Native lovin', and his half-Scottish half-Cherokee son killed both of the men by the time he was 12. So that was pretty cool. Also he died like a BAMF.
User avatar #32 to #31 - Conquistador (05/13/2014) [-]
Yeah, if their family lineage has been in the continent for quite a while, they've likely mixed in with some natives early in the line some where. That native DNA percentage is probably very minuscule now though, so probably shouldn't be identified or compared to Mestizos.

It's ironic, because that argument is meant to persuade a population of people whose ancestors caused the argument to be a thing in the first place.

not really
try actual india-indians sometime

at least the native americans fought till the last,,,the currymonkeys just bowed down and accepted british rule for 20 years then when the UK went bankrupt and had to pull out of india, the towelheads recorded that in their history that 'they won' and celebrate it every year

as if sitting on their asses for 200 years till the conqueror choose to leave is 'a great victory' and they act like all white people owe them a favor

Living on a reservation for most of my life, I just gotta say this kinda **** irritates me. Natives never miss the chance to remind you that this was their land once upon a time

Gotta love the ResDogs, it wouldn't bother me if they actually did something but when I was still living in Arizona they were just the worst kind of people. The Tribes are so split these days too, its kind of sad really. Profits from the casinos only go to a small, small, percentage so the rest just sit on reservations drinking and reliving glory days that never existed.
User avatar #58 to #39 - rasorburn (05/13/2014) [-]
Tribal councils are a huge joke. The tribes are a huge joke. 85% of the population on the reservation I lived on is unemployed and alcoholic. But then they wear a native pride t-shirt and force you to respect their culture.
User avatar #30 - Conquistador (05/13/2014) [-]
Lol, and the largest and fastest growing minority group is also of indigenous blood. Which is great.

It varied per tribe, but most believed themselves to be children of the Earth. Like they literally came forth from underground. To further identify themselves they went by the tribes name. Such as Hopi, Algonquin, Sioux.

I myself am part Cherokee.

1/4th+ Mi'kmaq reporting in. My grandfather is 100%(fathers side, and my grandmother is 50%), and is a representative for the Grand Council here in Maine.

I won't lie, I don't really identify with the culture. But the free college and grants were nice.
