It's the people that are like "OMG Obama is such a bad ************ , he gave him goooood" (eg. all of tumblr). they do this with pretty much any character tho, but with some extra jimmie rustling here because they attach their fantasies to an actual person.

E.G. All stand-up comedy.

There has never been a man nor woman go up on stage and do improvised stand-up comedy, at least with even sub-par humor.

Comedy is about the unexpected, but the comedian should at least have an idea of what to expect, or there's a terrible risk of falling completely flat.

I don't blame you, I should clarify actually:

It sounds like I'm saying all comedy should be planned because of that end sentence.

What I mean to say is: even an Improv comedian knows he's doing Improv, and great Improv comedians are that way because of their experience and talent at it.

No one creates gold by throwing **** to the wind. There's a still a science to everything. A good Improv comedian knows when to use their Yes/And's, Yes/But's, and No/But's, and to only use the No/And in a dire situation when your fellow comedians are failing. They especially know when to use the " **** it" adjustment, even if they never have to.

No one is just ******* funny for no reason. I guarantee that at least 99% of all comedy that is performed is scripted. Hell, I'll bet at least a quarter of the comedy that comes out of casual conversation is a joke the dude came up with when he was 16 and has been waiting all this time to say.

If Obama teaches us anything, it's that wittiness, confidence, and people skills are everything when it comes to politics. Many potentially great leaders have been shot down on the spot for not being able to use the right words and say the right things, even though their ideologies were at their core correct and good. Meanwhile, mediocre leaders like Obama (as well as many downright horrible tyrants) have risen to power because they have mastered a delicate art: the art of making people like you and want to work with you. Many of our most historically successful presidents had this skill (Washington, Lincoln, Reagan, Kennedy, Roosevelt, just to name a few). Similarly, many of the worlds most ruthless dictators (Hitler, Mao, Stalin, etc...) were also masters of this art. Where Obama resides on this continuum is irrelevant, I am only making the point that people will follow a madman with charisma before they follow a saint without it.

He also undeniably had the "black vote". A large portion of his voters were asked in polls on the streets of major cities (New York, Manhattan, Chicago, Los Angeles) what Romney could do to earn their vote over Obama and the NUMBER ONE RESPONSE was "Be black." It's ******* retarded. They think this is some game, where skin color actually matters. They didn't give a **** about policies or voting history or intentions. It was all about skin color. And that's ******* pathetic.

Is American news media actually this biased? yall need your own version of BBC, but even they can get a little biased
#56 to #47 - anon (08/05/2014) [-]
FOX = Republican
CNN, MSNBC, others I can't think of now = Democrat

Neither side understands the other's point of view. They dismiss everything they say, and act like they are America's enemy. Republicans consider everyone who wouldn't blow up a mosque a Democrat, and thus they are Taliban who want America to die. It's pretty much the same for Democrats; they think Republicans hate America.
FOX believes Obama is a Muslim Nazi Communist, and Democrats would start a genocide for Obama.
Personally, I hate both sides. I don't officially side with either, since I agree with some Republican arguments and some Democrat arguments.
Overall, it's better for everyone just not to choose sides, or public announce your side.

tl;dr: American media is so biased only Dr. Manhattan could comprehend it

ever heard the phrase "lesser of two evils"?
#71 to #58 - joshthepoet (08/05/2014) [-]
Here's the thing about that...
The president should not be the shiniest piece of **** . The president is the face of our country. He is the commander in Chief, and the approver/rejector of laws. In reality, it's the congress who really are deciding laws and what not, but this president has ruined the country. Instead of campaigning for illegal immigrants, he should be doing something about military presence in Afghanistan, or the fact that people can no longer support themselves with most of the dwindling available jobs on the market, or the obvious abuse and mistreatment of government systems like Medicare/medicaid, welfare, food stamps, etc, or the increasing crime rates all over this country, or trying to lower gas prices, but he'd rather play golf and play around with illegal immigrants.

The president should not be the shiniest piece of **** , ladies and gentlemen.
User avatar #79 to #71 - warrenzthehero (08/05/2014) [-]
Well, the thing is, as far as his ability to make laws, it's nonexistent. He can propose legislation, and even have Congress sorta drop things to focus on what he proposed, but after that it's not his fault anymore. The legislation problem is a Congress thing, not a presidential thing. People talk about how Republicans would do anything to stop Obeezy's legislation, but if the parties were reversed it would probably be the same or similar story. The problem is the cameras. It used to be that a congressman could speak his mind and agree with who he thought was right, since the people elected him to speak on their behalf and so he did what he thought was right, despite what the people may think is right. Nowadays, they have to say and act as if the general public of the US actually knows anything and do what they say, rather than what should be done. This is because now there's 24/7 cameras watching them relaying their exact words to the public.
There's a reason we have a representative government: the masses are ******* stupid. So they elect people who are smarter and more knowledgeable than them and who are in the general same ideology as them.

As for most of the other stuff, I don't see how any of it is exactly his fault. He can't control OPEC, so he can't control gas prices. It's not like he can just say "And now I declare gas shall be $1.50 a gallon. So being because I said so." That's supply and demand in action. The jobs on the market thing also isn't his to control. He can't go to Wal-Mart and say "Hire more people. They need jobs; give them more. Do it because I said." He sure as hell can't control crime rates, which are widely the result of the economy.

Basically, while the President does have a lot of power, right now it's widely limited to suggestions that Congress will just piss on.

I do agree with you about our foreign policy however. While it's been bad for years, it's only barely any better now. I expected much more from Obeezy.
User avatar #73 to #71 - Marker ONLINE (08/05/2014) [-]
Well actually, my statement is not my own opinion. Personally, I like Obama, I voted for him in 2012 (when I turned 18), I agree with most of what he does, but of course admit that he nor any president before him has been perfect. But all these people, like the guy at the top of this thread, who claim Obama is destroying the nation a little more each day, seem to forget that part of the blame falls on our obstructionist Congress who hate him so much they will stop everything he tries to do, even if it would help the country, and then blame him for it not getting done the very next day. "Lesser of two evils" was my way of saying that even if you don't like Obama, Romney would have driven us into the ground after a few months in office.
User avatar #75 to #73 - joshthepoet (08/05/2014) [-]
personally, I think Romney might have done better, but I digress. It's not worth arguing about, plus we'll never know. Unless I get my parallel universe looking glass working, so far... tests have been... not promising.

In all seriousness, the Congress is really to blame for the **** that goes down. In all honestly, the president isn't really anything more than a face now. He us just the guy that harbors the blame for the congress's ******* . The congress has way too much power. For example, the 2/3 veto thing. If the president vetos a law, it only takes 2/3rds of congress to pass the law anyway.
User avatar #80 to #75 - warrenzthehero (08/05/2014) [-]
I feel like if Romney were to be better, it would only be because then Congress would start doing things. Of course, knowing our patterns with Congress, soon after we'd have a Democrat majority and the obstructionism would be back. We Democrats like to pretend it's all the republicans fault, but we'd still try to **** with Romney. Maybe not quite as bad as the current Republicans shutting down the government), but it would hardly be better.
User avatar #85 to #75 - Marker ONLINE (08/05/2014) [-]
Now my problems with Romney were, a) he's an ass, b) he could never stay on one side of an argument for more than 5 minutes, and c) him and Paul Ryan made a number of ******** claims against Obama/Biden without fact-checking, only to be debunked by everyone.

And Obama isn't really just letting illegal immigrants come in, he's trying to make it easier for immigrants to not be labelled as illegal (read American Gulag by Mark Dow, it shows just how much like **** immigrants are treated in INS detention centers, and they've even wrongly thrown legal immigrants in them), and preemptively trying to avoid more **** like that horrible attempt at an Arizona bill that could have let cops ask for papers from anyone that looked like an immigrant.

Every president since Truman has tried to deal with the issues in the Middle East. Hate to burst anyone's bubble, but the US will never succeed in those efforts. That region will achieve peace when everyone blows each other up and there's one nation left standing. Obama's not gonna fix it, Romney couldn't have, Bush couldn't, Clinton couldn't.

Anyway, trying to convince someone that the guy they didn't vote for is/was/would've been the better choice hardly ever works. But we seem to agree that Congress is **** , so we've already been able to agree on more than them.

That does not matter. The opinion is that taxes are bad, war is useless and that surveillance is taking away our freedom. You might not agree, but it still don't make them ''autistic''.
