Actually almost certainly there was a President that had sex with a VP. (I'm reffering to Buchnan and King, who lived together for over 10 years and also appeared publically as a sort of couple.)

I really don't want Hillary to win
We've already had two bandwagon circlejerk elections
you know the white guy we elected
oh no that's right he's "black" because if you have a drop of black blood you are black
that's not ignorant at all

I feel like the only reason people will vote for her is because she would be "the first female president'
Feels like the presidency is just one big popularity contest for the next figurehead

and that makes me sad

I don't give a **** if she is female, male, or some 3rd gender thing or whatever. She's a good candidate with a history of good credentials in foreign policy and I agree with her stances regarding economy and social policy. Same for Obama and race. I'm sure a bunch of people voted for Obama because he's black (half black. whatever), but at the same time I'm sure a bunch of people didn't vote for him because he is black. I'm sure the same applies for Hilary being a woman if she ran. People are ignorant across the board

I think if your dad is Kenyan, that constitutes more than a drop.

Anyway, the presidency has always been a popularity contest from the very beginning. Washington was a well-known war-hero and a terrible politician. Guess which one of those got him unanimously elected?

"bandwagon circlejerk elections"

You do realize that democracy comes down to a popularity contest right? Unless the majority of voters are informed, which they usually arent, it is always a bandwagon circlejerk election because people are voting for who they like for whatever reason.

Im voting for hillary in the next election because the republicans are supporting a platform that is disgusting to me and the third parties have no chance of winning. Plus I like the clinton's track record. If there is a democrat that I dont like, then Ill vote third party but until then I find that the democrats are slowly pushing the country in the direction I want it to go.

well, presidents have minimal power anyway. It's congress you want to worry about
User avatar #115 to #103 - commontroll (03/10/2014) [-]
Not. The Executive office has been twisted and abused so much that the President can just barge through any decisions anybody makes these days, and there's historical precedents of that.
#182 to #18 - keybladewarrior (03/10/2014) [-]
You had my vote till the drop of black part. I'll get to that in a second.
You're right and it kept going like that since after I don't know, Bush? I'm not going to lie, in '08, my prideful lil' ******* mentality obviously gave my vote to Obama because of race. The feeling of having a black president is great as **** . But then I'm starting to see that it doesn't matter who's in office anymore. The president now can't do **** actually. Instead it being a position of power, it's more of a support character of your favorite tv show. Half of many things Obama promised couldn't even be done and if they were, it was either on a low scale or arguments ensued to the point of some embarrassing action. (Gov. Shut Down, etc.). Once I become eligible to vote, it's not personal preference, it's going to be more on who's going to mess up the Office less.
TL;DR: Presidency 'n' ****

Also, why do you people always saying that he's not black? It's either he's white or Muslim or white. Nobody wants to accept the truth.
User avatar #225 to #182 - nigeltheoutlaw (03/10/2014) [-]

I understand. America is probably the only country that keeps reminding people about racial barriers. Slavery might have been years ago but people's mental just goes along with the generation. Remembering history is a gift and curse.

Jokes aside, technically speaking, his skin pigment is mostly brown, therefore making him black, so it would be more appropriate to refer to him as "black" or "African American and not "white"
User avatar #228 to #226 - nigeltheoutlaw (03/10/2014) [-]
It's not correct at all since he's just as white as he is black. Brown skin =/= black person.
#229 to #228 - abstractpink (03/10/2014) [-]
Where I come from, we identify people by their skin pigment and not their genetics
And if the police were to chase him, or some other people who didn't know him were to describe him, they'd most likely describe him as "African American"
User avatar #230 to #229 - nigeltheoutlaw (03/10/2014) [-]
Ah, so you call all brown people black? Even if they're actually Indian, Native American, Southeast Asian, or Hispanic? You should probably expand your word usage in that case.

#232 to #230 - abstractpink (03/10/2014) [-]
Where I'm from, we don't have much racial diversity, so honestly I didn't think it was about genetics, but skin pigment. I don't care much for race anyway, but it's just how we say it here. We mostly use the phrases Latin, Asian (racist people often just calls them Chinese, that pisses me off), and black.
User avatar #233 to #232 - nigeltheoutlaw (03/10/2014) [-]
That reminds me of King of the Hill when they meet Kon for the first time:

Hank: "So, are you Chinese or Japanese?"

It's more ignorant to call him white, to actually refer to him by race, than to say "black president". He's 50% african aswell.
User avatar #106 to #104 - infinitereaper (03/10/2014) [-]
Exactly my point, he is just as much white as he is black, the truth though is that he is neither, he is, both, he is a mutt, like me. Calling him black denies everything good about not caring about race, and undermines his poistion as a human being.

And I think that is a very bad thing.
User avatar #189 to #106 - daix ONLINE (03/10/2014) [-]
Just going by his skin color, calling him black, even if you knew he was partially white, ain't that bad. Plus people kinda needed something to call him, and mutt isn't an ethnicity.
User avatar #216 to #189 - nigeltheoutlaw (03/10/2014) [-]
He's mixed race. Not white, definitely black, but mixed race.

User avatar #201 to #199 - infinitereaper (03/10/2014) [-]
just because he's idolized doesn't make him a hero, he has literally done a whole lot of nothing, he helped a few minorities but he's the president that isn't his damn job meanwhile the country is as **** as ever, I wanted Ron Paul

In general, no obama isnt a hero, but to black people he is. that's what im saying. and he is just the current face of things being set in motion in the government. anything he has done, would probably be done by anyone else who in office at the time. he got the luck of the draw with certain things like being in office when Bin Laden was killed and pulling our troops out, but anyone else couldve got that credit.
