The guy has said some smart **** , but this is just stupid. "I don't know what to do!" isn't a reference to miraculously forgetting how to have sex, it has to do with not having the proper empathy to handle the problem of "my girlfriend is having lady issues" which goes farther than what to do physically. Besides, it isn't even what to do, it's the ethics with it. Should I ask for intimacy? Should I coddle her? Is she magically turned to where cuddling offends her and the rough sex we always want is what she wants? Should we just sit at least 30 feet away occasionally throwing chocolate in the room she's in until the low, guttural roars stop? This is all complicated by the fact that the stereotype is that one wrong turn will cause her to turn into she-hulk without the preserves sense of self.

To put it in perspective, imagine you were talking to some middle aged guy, and mentioned that you didn't know how to handle your girlfriend, and he immediately went into a rant about he will **** her for you.

I don't even have a girlfriend and I'm offended, both at the idea, and the gross lack of empathy over the real issue.

"I don't even have a girlfriend and I'm offended, both at the idea, and the gross lack of empathy over the real issue."
Congratulations. You've won the award for the BIGGEST faggot on FunnyJunk, for not understanding what comedians are. They make fun of anything and everything. Seriousness is thrown out the window momentarily so that our basic human nature for laughter can take over for a bit.

Comedy is more than just "I makecfun of things!" There are factors that make jokes funny, and unfunny. If it was as simple as you said, then explain to me exactly what makes Dane Cook so unfunny to people. It's not just because "he's unfunny!" because then you're just using circular logic. If it really is as simple as "he made fun of thing, whichdi funny!" then everyone should love that guy, yet he's the butt of every joke.

#114 to #101 - shishiko **User deleted account** (10/10/2013) [-]
Funny is subjective.

And there just so happens to be a large majority of people who think that Dane Cook isn't funny but Louis C.K. is. And that large majority loves to make fun of the lesser.

That's why. **** my previous logic.
User avatar #115 to #114 - lolollo (10/10/2013) [-]
I wholly understand that, but it's typically a terrible idea to assume either the worst, or best out of someone just because of their perceived reputation, especially if it's our perceived reputation of them. What's happened is people have made it where Dane Cook can do nothing right, and Louis is an absolute Saint. I agree, a lot of Dane Cook's material is terrible, but then there are the handful of joke that are absolutely hilarious, but we're not allowed to like them because "It's Dane Cook!" It ends up being like that one picture, where there's nothing someone we hate can do to fix our perception of them. "Look at him over there eating that bagel...like he own the place!"

The same goes for Louis in the opposite direction. Make sure you like the joke because it's funny, and not just because it's Louis CK saying it. Seriously, imagine someone else saying, maybe someone you hate as a comedian, someone who isn't necessarily Dane Cook. If it's truly a funny joke, then you should be able to enjoy it regardless of who says it.

You know, I thought I was gonna get in a full blown argument with you, but I have to agree with you.

I'll admit, being a fan of Louis, I can't admit, not all of his material is the funnest ******* **** I've ever heard. And with this joke specifically, I would have laughed at it either way, just because of how silly it is, not because the guy I like said it.

I take back my faggot of FunnyJunk award, because frankly sir, you do not deserve it.

Do you REALLY think that he thinks that? He's a comedian, not an idiot. He just said a joke to try to get some laughs, no need to over analyze it.

The joke was "If you don't have sex with your girlfriend, I will." which is pretty lowbrow for someone like him. Especially since he had to pull the joke from a situation that's not even founded in reality, a joke that's based on "here's a funny thing you can observe in reality!"

Plus, his execution sounds like he came up with the punchline before having the set up to lead to it in mind already, a punchline that isn't even that clever to begin with considering it's just him commenting that he'll have sex with your girlfriend.

Essentially, his humor has become "I am much smarter than everyone else around me!" and he's starting to get lazy with coming up with new material. If he doesn't find a way to either humble himself down, or structure his schtick a little better, he's going to eventually turn into the same type of raving lunatic that Rush Limbaugh is today, and was in the mid 00's. And we'll have let it happen, perhaps we'll be refusing to notice it happen, because he said a few smart sounding things we all agreed with in the past.

The man may be smart, but he's still fallible, and subject to the same human imperfections we all have to deal with in our own lives. Intelligence and class aren't absolute in people.
User avatar #67 to #34 - tenaciousjon (10/10/2013) [-]
I can just imagine you sitting at a comedy club with a big frown and your arms crossed. You really can't just enjoy his comedy? It's not meant to be super serious. It's comedy.

Do you write angry letters to game companies every time you have to kill an enemy because it's morally wrong?
User avatar #97 to #67 - lolollo (10/10/2013) [-]
The same can be said about anyone listening to Dane Cook, yet 90% of people would be adament in proving the same thing I was trying to prove about this particular joke, that he isn't funny.

"But that's because he isn't funny!"

Welcome to the world of opinion. Besides, I never said he was unfunny as a comedian, I said that this particular joke was horrible.
User avatar #104 to #97 - tenaciousjon (10/10/2013) [-]
You can't compare this to Dane Cook. People don't laugh at Dane Cook because he steals jokes and then retells them in stupid ways.

I think you need to stop thinking so much about the joke and just enjoy it. It's a funny joke. But when you sit there, analyzing every single word, studying it and fleshing it out, you're just killing the humor for yourself.

Don't take life so seriously. Life is happier when you learn to just laugh at things and take it easy.
User avatar #105 to #104 - lolollo (10/10/2013) [-]
But then we're overanalyzing the fact that Dane Cook is stealing jokes and telling in a way you find stupid, but someone else might think is hilarious. Stop trying to think of it as a joke that someone else said at some point is time and enjoy the fact that it's a funny situation. You're just overanalyzing it and killing the joke.

And in case you haven't realized it yet, this is precisely what your argument sounds like to me.
User avatar #106 to #105 - tenaciousjon (10/10/2013) [-]
Jeez you're thick. No, that isn't over analyzing it. He straight up plagiarizes other peoples work. There's nothing more to analyze. He steals. People like original content. Obviously if I hear the same joke twice, but it's being told by someone else who's trying to act like they're funny, then of course I won't laugh.

I think maybe comedy isn't for you.
User avatar #107 to #106 - lolollo (10/10/2013) [-]
You're calling me thick when the entire point of my argument is whizzing past your head at 100mph. I don't think Dane Cook is funny. I also don't not think Louis CK is funny. I said that this particular joke is unfunny, and gave dreasons why, yet people are hellbent at berating me for either being a retard (conjecture!) or for "overanalyzing it!" even though there's a very analytical part to comedy. There are reasons things are funny, and other things are not, and it's not "overanalysis" to note the differences. If we take what you said to be true about never analyzing anything and simply enjoying it because it's an original joke, then everyone would be comedian, but that's not how reality works. Some original jokes are funny, some aren't, and just because you want to suck the guys dick who's telling an unfunny joke, it doesn't magically make it funny.

Now I've tried to have an intelligent conversation with you since you at least had a point to your comment, as opposed to the ones who are just calling me an idiot and moving on, but I guess you're just another asshole who will get angry when someone doesn't just accept your opinion for all of the gold it's obviously worth.
User avatar #108 to #107 - tenaciousjon (10/10/2013) [-]
"You're angry" He said, as he then proceeded to call me an asshole and accusing me of wanting to suck another man's dick.

You know what, I'm starting to agree with all the people who are just calling you retarded. There's no point in trying to reason with you, anyway.

Enjoy your bland, grey existence. I hope you have fun going through life with a straight face, being "That guy" who has to explain and over analyse every joke people tell.

See you 'round.
#110 to #108 - lolollo (10/10/2013) [-]
PS, If you still can't see that you're the one who's butthurt in this situation, look at who's thumbed who's comments down. Someone who's confident in their opinion wouldn't feel the need to use a petty thumb system to try and get their last stab in.

But you're welcome to keep going, I'm sure you can chip at my 27 thousands positive comment thumbs if you truly believe in yourself. Seriously, this isn't even trolling. Making people angry with my trolling attempts is always a blast, but when I can do it with my actual opinion on the world...well...that's just swell.

Wait a minute, isn't that what that one guy does with his comedy style? Like the whole point is pissing people off with his raunchy look at reality and opinions based on hard truth? I forget his name, is...I wanna say London B.M.

"Every joke people tell."

Do I really have to say it a third time, that this is a joke specific problem, and that I don't go around analyzing every little thing every comedian does?

But I suppose it'd be an easier thing to argue against, that I'm some stuffy asshole who analyzes everything, so I can't really say I'm surprised that your mind would want to substitute my argument into something you can easily argue against. I'll just take it as you being unable to handle yourself in am actual argument, so you have to go around creating personas out of what little information people give you and argue with that. It's fine though, it seems you really need this, so I'll give it to you.
