getsharex.com/

A vastly superior alternative to puush / gyazo / lightshot

-uses imgur servers so NEVER slow in "peak hours" like with puush
-gives you the option to have it connected with your imgur account so instead of just uploading as "anon" to imgur they upload to your account, or a specific album if you wish
-gives you a direct link to clipboard instead of a link to a page cluttered with facebook **** and the picture embedded (good for pasting into fj upload via url like puush)
-when drawing a rectangle around the area to cap it gives the height/width in pixels

a list of the settingsto change upon install for best experience:
after capture tasks = i.imgur.com/hvMCbFd.png
after upload tasks = i.imgur.com/1UyydNE.png
destinations -> destination settings = i.imgur.com/N4nHUcT.png
(click open authorize page to get the code, then change account type to "User" and make sure use direct link is ticked, you can also set to specific album if you want)
(You'll use http://YOURACCOUNTNAME.imgur.com/all/ to view the pics)
task settings = i.imgur.com/f5GfEvj.png (disable the sound made after capture is made, pointless)
task settings -> image = i.imgur.com/6C1zbFI.png (set both to PNG so it won't convert to jpg if too big)
hotkey settings = i.imgur.com/E37f2HG.png (whatever you want i guess, I just copied puush)
(it also captures cursor by default but can be disabled)

Does flux really help? Seems like it'd get annoying doing anything with a filter on.
User avatar #107 to #9 - ruckallthefules (07/10/2015) [-]
I used it for a month, installed it on everything. It gets tiring really fast. It just changes your color and I don't even have problems without it.
#213 to #9 - nowthatsedgy (07/10/2015) [-]
I like it. You get used to the dimming/warm glow of the screen quickly, now disabling it makes my screen appear unnaturally bright.

There are also 3 'secret' settings when you right-click the Flux. icon in the taskbar, that allow you to make the screen appear a deep orange. I think that they are 'secret' because most people would find them to be too dim.
User avatar #253 to #9 - screencleaner (07/10/2015) [-]
I absolutely cannot stand the way it looks, but some people really love it. Basically the only way to know if you'll like it is to try it
#276 to #9 - anon (07/10/2015) [-]
It's a great program, it really helps at night, the only thing is when I play games and it kicks in it lags the game for a few seconds until the filter is applied, other than that it's awesome. It also has the option to disable for an our which is good if you're working on color sensitive work.
User avatar #281 to #9 - ruebezahl (07/10/2015) [-]
I have been using it for a couple of weeks, because a partial vitreous body detachment ****** up my right eye, so staring at a bright white screen is really annoying. F.lux is quite nice for that.
User avatar #289 to #9 - orangebudd ONLINE (07/10/2015) [-]
it makes your eyes hurt way less when you're looking at a screen at night.

if you're into colour sensitive work, you can disable it for a while since it slightly affects colours. i'd recommend it any time!
User avatar #17 to #9 - MuahahaOfLore (07/09/2015) [-]
I use it regurally

I love it.
User avatar #85 to #9 - magicalsteve (07/10/2015) [-]
It's so nice, definitely recommend it but it doesn't work with some video games, it has bery simple switch off tho
User avatar #104 to #9 - domny (07/10/2015) [-]
using it since this evening, got used to the tint in a few minutes.
going back now hurts my eyes :T
User avatar #35 to #9 - wotterpatch (07/09/2015) [-]
It's so useful, i actually am able to sleep at night now
User avatar #20 to #9 - shove (07/09/2015) [-]
I got flux a year or two ago... by far one of the best additions to my life when it comes to any computer I use.
#28 to #20 - altrio (07/09/2015) [-]
Seems like a lot of people agree, I'm surprised I never heard of it before this. Guess I'll see what it's like later tonight.
User avatar #16 to #9 - nykis (07/09/2015) [-]
I had it for awhile and it do just get annoying after awhile
User avatar #60 to #9 - ministermax ONLINE (07/10/2015) [-]
I recommend it 100%

I hardly ever notice the color filter, and only when it changes. It'l take a few seconds to get used to, the rest of the time everything is all good.
User avatar #65 to #9 - mrsirturko (07/10/2015) [-]
Been using it a while now. Recommend you use it if you do a lot of night-time surfing or gaming. You can also adjust it or turn it off during gaming
#78 to #9 - noschool (07/10/2015) [-]
it's okay, i had to change it because the default made me feel like i had orange juice all over my screen, but it does help.
#47 to #9 - applescryatnight (07/09/2015) [-]
i use flux, but honestly it annoys me at times, and sometimes i just completely leave it off.
and for video games its either hit or miss, sometimes it works over the video game, sometimes not.

7/10, it bugs me that i cant see all the colors i normally would, but it has saved me some headaches.
#26 to #9 - anon (07/09/2015) [-]
Yes but the defaults are too strong, just adjust it to where you're comfortable.
#27 to #26 - altrio (07/09/2015) [-]
Good to know, thanks.
#81 to #27 - fillytickler (07/10/2015) [-]
The best way to use it is when you're getting ready for bed. Blue light increases brain activity and keeps you up, so staring at your screen until you go to sleep is a main cause of insomnia. Redshift is a nice alternative (I think Linux only) that will automatically activate when it's nighttime, as it calibrates with sunset and your location. It also overlays a RED tint, not orange.
User avatar #187 to #9 - cowisbeast (07/10/2015) [-]
it gets annoying
#198 to #9 - felixjarl ONLINE (07/10/2015) [-]
The question is a clear yes.

If you dislike the sudden light change you can make it transfer over a hour.

And i lost my sleeping problems after using it.
User avatar #283 to #9 - gatorade (07/10/2015) [-]
It saved me when I got a concussion. Without it i would get exhausted from being the computer in about 30 minutes. But with Flux I could make it very dim and it made having a concussion not that bad.
#185 to #9 - dwong (07/10/2015) [-]
**dwong used "*roll picture*"**
**dwong rolled image**
I find it annoying at first as well, but you'll get used to it.
User avatar #280 to #9 - cactusphalus (07/10/2015) [-]
i like it a lot, only turn it off when working involves color coordination
#179 to #9 - largesetofballs (07/10/2015) [-]
just installed it do most of my funny junking at night before i go to sleep makes it easier to look at the screen for my eyes.
#275 to #9 - legendarysnarf (07/10/2015) [-]
if you just turn a light on in your room, i used to have eye strain at night and it was because i had no light on. Having light on helps your pupils not dilate so much, the reason you get eye strain is because your pupils are heavily dilated sitting in a dark room, staring at a bright screen.
#176 to #9 - alienxplain (07/10/2015) [-]
I use it and you hardly notice it, unless you have the filter settings on high.
User avatar #227 to #9 - stereojunkie (07/10/2015) [-]
Yes, it's amazing, really. I've been using it for something like 2 years now on both my PC and laptop.

You won't notice the filter at all anymore and if you turn it off you'll instantly notice the strain a normal screen puts on your eyes.
User avatar #136 to #9 - moonmeander (07/10/2015) [-]
I have it and I set it to transition over an hour so you don't even notice the difference. It really helps despite the fact that I don't notice it.
#189 to #9 - anon (07/10/2015) [-]
I just downloaded it, you get used to it after a few minutes. I think it's cool.
User avatar #119 to #9 - thatonecommunist (07/10/2015) [-]
on some monitors it looks kinda crappy, but, on others its amazing, try it out, if it doesn't look good on yours, move on.
User avatar #94 to #9 - nought (07/10/2015) [-]
I don't like it
User avatar #105 to #9 - AcidFlux (07/10/2015) [-]

Has no one ******* heard of turning down your brightness? I always keep mine almost all the way to minimum, for ever electronic, and I import black skins for all the websites I browse on firefox.

no problems so far, really saves my eyes
#175 to #106 - anon (07/10/2015) [-]
It's completely different than changing your brightness, it softens the colors. Even if you turn down your brightness, it doesn't take the stress off of your eyes. I haven't had problems with monitor brightness before, always turned it down, but F.Lux was really noticeable.
User avatar #284 to #175 - infinitereaper (07/10/2015) [-]
dude holy ****
it works somehow
User avatar #167 to #106 - denniswilles (07/10/2015) [-]
The thing is, your room generally has a warm tint at night unless you have different lightbulbs. During the day your screen should be blue/white to match daylight but at night it should match the color of your light source. F.lux does that and helps even on the lowest brightness.
#56 to #9 - marmiteistasty (07/10/2015) [-]
It's kinda annoying until you hit a point where you realize that it really does help you sleep. It's like making the switch from a membrane to a mechanical keyboard. You can't stand the noise at the beginning, but you come to love the tactile feedback.

If you're looking for a good office software, get Apache Open Office. Its pretty much exactly like microsoft office but its completely free. Ive been using it forever and have never had a problem with it
#64 to #34 - anon (07/10/2015) [-]
LibreOffice is a vastly superior fork of OpenOffice. With better support and more active development. The Apache Foundation is one of those names with a lot of renown for no real reason. That's where software goes to die. Even their webserver is eclipsed by nginx and litespeed. Tomcat is about their only worthwhile project.
