the TOW missiles that the syrian rebels are using were supplied by the US Government. The stupid thing is that the syrian rebels are basically al qaeda, but the US is still giving them guns and TOW missiles nonetheless.
It's not a laser. It's a phosphorous tracer that is put on the back end of some anti-tank rockets. It allows the operator to optically track and guide the missile. This was probably a TOW that was supplied to Syrian Rebels by the US via Saudi Arabia.
For anyone wondering, the helicopter is obviously an H-6 Little Bird.
The plane that crashed is an F-9 Cougar.
The plane with those wonky stabilizers watching the explosion is a B-57.
I can't identify the tanks.
i was thinking one of them could have been a challenger 2 but you could be right. I know the one that they jump out of has reactive armor thats how they were able to jump out but other then that to poor of quality to find out.
Tank #1: Merkava
Tank #2: M60 of some variety. Probably Turkish.
Tank #3: Very difficult to tell but the profile says T-62 to me.
Tank #4: T-72
Tank #5: T-72 again
Holy **** , this video was hard to watch, the most perfect song was chosen. What is the backstory on this video. I understand its from russian-afghanistan conflict.
what makes nuclear weapons and missles even scarier is the fact that if one is launched bcuz of a system malfunction or something, it could start ww3 on accident and that has almost happened a couple of times already.
Most of the tanks that are in these comps are all WWII to Cold War era, T54s - T72s and such. The tech is obsolete but they can still be used. And the pictures you see online of Abrams that are destroyed (because they don't know how to operate them well enough) are mostly from the M1A1s we've sold to middle eastern countries. The Abrams is a little behind in the current tech world for tanks, but it will still ******** up.
What additional tech are you talking about?
Seems to me the only thing to be done is just... Add more/better plating I know there are automated anti rocket/missile systems that shoot like a shotgun to detonate them before they reach the tank, is that what you're talking about?
For example the old WWII era tanks only have scopes/ sights to shoot with. The Abrams and most modern tanks have a screen with thermals for sights. They also have a laser that they can send out to determine the distance what they're pointing at. And if you use the laser on a moving target, the computer will automatically calculate lead and trajectory of the round for you. You don't have to lead, or adjust for range, you just aim center mass.
What does that have to do with these tanks getting 1 shot?
I don't think there was any issue with accuracy, it's just that these tanks are getting rekt left right and center in this comp.
Simply because its a 21st century missile hitting a tank from the 1930-40s. The difference in armor isn't that much but it's the material it's made out of that's different. On the abrams they use a classified composite that contains depleted uranium.
Say whatever you want about me, I created an account with the sole purpose of saying that kiowas are amazing (gif 1). We called them every time we were pinned down and those crazy all stars swooped in, with no hesitation, and saved our ass more than I can say,
