The tongue acts like a tension trap, the crocodile closes it when he feels something on it. This is why people get their hand bitten off when they try to **** with a croc or gator. Either they touch the tongue, or a sweat droplet touches it and snap.
The chickens my dad kept would stick their heads out of the holes in the chicken wire to look at coyotes and the coyotes would bite their heads off. Birds are not very smart.
Certain species like Nile crocodiles will allow small birds to do that but I don't believe this is a Nile crocodile.
Might be a Australian Freshwater crocodile, or maybe a young Salty.
Imagine what would happen if a crocodile or alligator tried to eat a hedgehog.. Would all of those spikes ever get out of it's mouth without human interference? How much would it hurt? Would the hedgehog be pepsi?
hedgehog spikes dont come out and stick in things like porcupines do its just straight up armor so things wont eat them the croc would probably be fine.
Crocs don't feel much pain, they often lose legs and don't feel it.
Heard somewhere that they can control the blood flow to limbs if there is an injury and they don't have much pain receptors.
tbh I doubt it would affect the croc too much, the hedgehog would be killed in one bite, then swallowed. Any of the spines would reach the stomach pretty easily and then be dissolved along with the bones of the hedgehog.
