I thought we had problems with lobbying, corruption, inept officials, corporations too big to fail, a food supply controlled by Monsanto, the DOW Chemical Company, runaway debt thats more than 16 trillion and climbing, economic growth concentrated to the wealthiest 1 percent.... ah, I think I'll stop here. Everything is perfect. God bless America.

it's because why is it ok for every other country not have to make everything in different languages but america does? americans get made fun of for not wanting to learn another language when going to another country and yet no one has to learn english to come to america

There's nothing hypocritical about it, it's simply about necessity. Switzerland has signs in French and German, because both of those languages are widely used there. Israel has Hebrew, Arabic, and English. China, despite an insignificant English-speaking population, still has many signs in English (or Chinese pinyin) as well as in Chinese characters, for the benefit of tourists. New York City has signs in six languages because of all its immigrants and foreign tourists.
It's better to suck it up and have multilingual signs and labels than to have a bunch of people get lost or injured because they can't read English.

Having said that, I do think people have a responsibility to learn the language of the country they immigrate to, rather than expecting that country to cater to them.

This is because America is meant to be the land of the "free". Where people of ALL Races, religions, denominations, gender, or sexual affinity can come live FREE of tyranny and persecution. The Constitution specifically decrees that a religion or language will not take precedence over any other.

But what do I know? I'm just some dumb american.

Dumb and fat* get it right man come on.
not actually serious but I agree with you
User avatar #13 to #2 - Ruspanic ONLINE (10/14/2013) [-]
I don't think the Constitution says anything about languages.
