They're real, and they're built to help elderly farmers carry rice. Japan has a very high life expectancy and there are many elderly manual labourers, particularly in agriculture.
It basically takes away physical strain of reaching up and down and absorbs the load.

I think by then all the old people in Japan would be dead. This won't be that helpful afteralll.

High life expectancy? Isn't suicide one of the top causes of death over there? Or is that china
User avatar #92 to #73 - newforomador ONLINE (01/24/2014) [-]
I think that's China that has a high suicide rate.
User avatar #257 to #92 - xeynaroth (01/25/2014) [-]
Actually it's kinda both, china has a higher sucide rate I believe, but japan is pretty close to china I think, Japan even has a forest which loads of people go to specifically to kill themselves.

If you enter the forest you will see a sign urging people to reconsider and that they have people that love and care for them so they shouldn't do this, also you can find ropes tied in the trees forming a long route of sorts, and if you follow one of these ropes you're very likely to find a corpse, as these ropes have been put up by people that have come here to kill themselves, but aren't completely sure yet and therefore put up these ropes in order not to get lost in the forest, and so they can find their way back out if they reconsider.

I got all this from a youtube video I saw btw
#129 to #92 - anon (01/24/2014) [-]
Japan is quite up there too. They have their own suicide forest.
#110 to #3 - dotafanboy (01/24/2014) [-]
It's not that they have a very long life-expectancy. It's that there aren't making enough young kids.

Most of the japanese population in 2010 was between 35-65 years old.

ASIANS CAN ACTUALLY LIFT RICE!!!!!!!!!!

They can lift, and carry what they're holding.
This is the complete truth.

The reason asian farmers have bent backs and tired arms segregate everyone else-only associate with Asians and don’t associate with non Asians that much, and are very unfriendly in general is to avoid accidentally revealing that they can lift rice. If all over a billion Asians were to lift rice all the time just as much as non Asians, integrate and associate with non Asians much more, and be much more friendly and talkative, then a lot of them might accidentally reveal that they can lift rice by accidentally showing a back or arm when someone lifts, or visually holds something in their arms they don’t like, find astonishing, or funny etc because those people might see that and and really wonder what that was that just happened there and see the connection, and they might accidentally say something similar to what the person was just thinking and going to say. If they all associated with non Asians a lot more then there would be a lot more people around for them to accidentally show facial expressions when those people think things they don’t like etc, so they segregate and only associate with Asians so there won’t be anyone around for them to see that and have any accidents happen in the first place.

It depends on what aspect youre talking about. The Japanese ones definitely look nicer, but the American ones are better at what theyre made to do, and allow the user to lift significantly more weight.
User avatar #292 to #97 - bookyle (01/25/2014) [-]
except they haven't been able to make a reasonably sized battery pack for it. Right now its dependent on external power. It's next to useless in military applications.

Ah, okay. Not sure if you're into anime but I'll explain anyway--
'Evangelions' are a mecha in the year 2015 that are man-made, piloted by a teenager each. Their most distinctive feature is the cable that they need for power.
It's a crapshoot all in all but I found it interesting.
