When Chaplin refued to shake hands with german ambassador, ambassador asked him "Are you a jew?" And Chaplin replied "I do not have the honor."

While russian armored troops are largest in the world, most of it is parked in semi-abandoned bases through Siberia, and would take huge restoration to work again. That said, the smaller core of new, high quality, well maintained tanks is still pretty goddamn large.
User avatar #100 to #30 - popkornking (12/26/2013) [-]
It says "Fields the largest armored force" I would assume that wouldn't be counting tanks in abandoned bases in Siberia

Yugoslavia in ww2 "fielded" one of the europe's larger airforces. Except their planes were antiques unworthy of being used.
Same thing with russia's tanks. You can field them, but you won't get much use of those cold war antiques.

Oh okay, I thought "fielded" meant they had to be in service.

I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be an admin. That’s not my business. I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone - if possible - /b/tard, Redditor - blue name - white. We all want to make one another laugh. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s support- not by each other’s criticism. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this website there is room for everyone's opinions. And the good Internet is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of Funnyjunk can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.

Content have poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded Funnyjunk with conceit, has goose-stepped us into misery and blame-giving. We have developed OC, but we have shut ourselves in. Good posts that give thumbs has left us in want. Our levels have made us cynical. Our jokes, hard and unkind. We think too little and disregard opinions too much. More than OC, we need good posts. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, Funnyjunk will be violent and all will be lost....

The frontpage and various boards have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men - cries out for universal brotherhood - for the unity of us all. Even now my comment is reaching millions throughout this site- millions of despairing men, women (yes, women on the internet), and whiny children - victims of a system that makes men torture and make fun of innocent people.

To those who can read this, I say - do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who fear the way of human enjoyment. The hate of men will pass, and admins die, and the illusion of power they gave to the people will be taken from the people. And so long as good people make good content, humor will never perish...

There was actually a case where a woman received botox injections illegally by an unregistered doctor. The dosage was too high (and I can only assume other complications) and she eventually became completely paralyzed. She would have died regardless of where she was at the time (As her organs began to stop), but it just so happened that she was in her pool/spa when she started to lose her motor functions and slowly slid to the bottom of the pool, unable to move a muscle.

User avatar #193 to #191 - benjamino (12/26/2013) [-]
It still refutes his point.
The most damage they did to Vietnam is what the chemicals do to it's civilians now, they didn't really 'devastate' the Vietcong, more the other way around.
And their air force didn't do the much good.

Lol, "lost". You mean withdrew? That was because of protests in the home front.
User avatar #237 to #205 - benjamino (12/26/2013) [-]
kinginyellow
Withdrew because of protests on the home front which actually resulted in civilian death, withdrew because of the body count, withdrew because there was literally no support for the war anymore (Bear in mind that when a country loses all support for a war, defeat isn't far behind- see British Naval Blockade WWI and the German people ******* that war noise because they were hungry as **** ), withdrew because their soldiers were being driven insane, so much so that they started to shoot up innocent villages, and withdrew because they spent several thousands of dollars killing even 1 vietcong.
America lost in Vietnam. 'Withdrew' is the word that was used to safe face by the government.
They left the country because they saw no hope of victory and were losing a lot more than they were gaining.
Sure, you can call that 'withdrawing'. You can also call it retreat, or 'giving up'- but they're all synonymous with 'losing'.
User avatar #258 to #237 - mikhailovych (12/27/2013) [-]
Seconded
User avatar #221 to #205 - kinginyellow (12/26/2013) [-]
It was a Pyrrhic victory if anything, it was good they pulled out when they did. I thought it was supposed to be considered neutral loss because of the body count on both sides.
User avatar #224 to #193 - kinginyellow (12/26/2013) [-]
Air force is really useless in an area like that too, with no easy visuals of the enemy soldiers and how easy friendly fire could occur. The equipment is based on the field of battle.

"every single time"
>Struggled across Europe during the second world war, e.g there were more American casualties at the battle of the bulge than there were in the entire civil war
>Had to pull out of Vietnam after a bunch of 3rd world infantry kept killing enough U.S troops to cause public opinion to turn against the U.S
>Chinese troops forced American troops to pull back to the 38th parallel in the Korean war

The largest air force in the world is the U.S. Air Force. The second largest is the U.S. Navy.
#141 to #114 - comradewinter (12/26/2013) [-]
The US Navy isn't even a Navy. Most Navy's fight at sea, whereas the Americans haven't seen aquatic warfare if that's even a word in like 50 years. It's like all the funding is being shoved onto the Navy because of their contribution against the Japanese.
#143 to #141 - Rascal (12/26/2013) [-]
Actually, we cram a lot of money into naval warfare. There isn't a nation on the planet that can compete. Our technology is 50 years ahead of everyone.
#144 to #143 - comradewinter (12/26/2013) [-]
******** . Drones are effective only against targets that aren't defended. If the US waged war on a powerful nation like Russia or China they'd see that most of their human life-sparing equipment would be very ineffective.
#155 to #144 - imadeyoureadthis (12/26/2013) [-]
Or, maybe, just maybe, we could stop insulting America and various other countries.
Please be gentle with your hate
#164 to #155 - comradewinter (12/26/2013) [-]
I'm not insulting America. I'm just criticizing the technology they use. It costs way more than needed. Like how an AK-47 costs like 50$ to produce while an M-16 is closer to 150$. Both are equally effective.
#179 to #164 - Rascal (12/26/2013) [-]
Dumb ****** . Bring a gun to an F-22 fight. I bought an Ak from ... another country.... it had "seen combat" but was "never fired" why? Because the towel head holding it died before he could get a shot off.

the Ak-47 is ****** lovely. Seriously, it's a joy to shoot. But it's not the best rifle by any means. A rifle means nothing if you can't shoot it.
User avatar #167 to #164 - imadeyoureadthis (12/26/2013) [-]
Either way, judgment is wrong.
#197 to #167 - comradewinter (12/26/2013) [-]
Well, I'm sorry. I thought I was allowed to express my opinion about how the US could spend the money in other ways, that actually have a positive effect on its people.
#168 to #144 - Rascal (12/26/2013) [-]
LOL, hows your delusion treating you? China and Russia could combine forces and still never own the air against the US. If you can't own the air, you can't own the sea. If you can't own the sea, you can't own land.

Drones are not the only thing that makes us the most powerful nation in the world. The **** you see during combat operations is the **** that's 40 years old. Here's a protip, we're not spending 700 billion a year maintaining old equipment and people alone. 30 trillion in spending over the course of 50 years makes a lot of cool **** to dick smack any enemy.

You've got to be out of your mind to think even both nations could overpower the US.

We could prevent that by spending a reasonable amount on our military rather than overspending. We don't need that much equipment, unless there's something I don't know about going on/

The U.S. also literally have LASER GUNS on naval ships now.

US Air power. "Overkill is still a kill!"
#149 - Rascal (12/26/2013) [-]
Having a lot of tanks means jack and **** . Iraq had 4230 tanks at the start of the gulf war. Less than 200 survived and my guess is primarily because they weren't part of active duty. the coalition had 3000 tanks in service. we lost 4.

If you can't own the air, you can't own the ground. No one in the world can out air power the US. Period. This isn't going to change for at least 50 years. If we stopped building today, China would overtake us in power and technology (and economy) in 40 years. If... we stopped... now.

Like the US or not, doesn't matter. We're the strongest military in the world.
User avatar #152 to #149 - saltyfries (12/26/2013) [-]
4 of those were not even the great M1A1 Abrams tank, apparently not 1 tank has been disabled or destroyed since the tank's creation! Only 1 actual tank was lost and that was an M60A3 Patton during an Airport raid I believe.

Too bad the concept in modern warfare is more of use for 'showing off' or 'depleting enemy morale' rather than use, due to the tons of developed anti-tank methods.
(about every infantry squad has at least 1 AT)

Tanks are still the coolest thing on the battlefield, though.
