Here's a long running joke from my dad:
"You know why we had two kids?"
"Because we had two snow shovels".

Nothing good ever followed him making that joke.

nah its true man, spend enough time on rocstars online games and you will begin killing anyone you see in self defense

Not really. Yesterday a guy was robbing a store, and when I came in, instead of killing him, I took out my shotgun and pointed to the guy in the store. He took all the money, but I don't care.

"Comfort is the enemy of achievement."

That's a fallacy. What good is achievement without comfort? Besides, most of what classifies as "achievement" these days is about "comfort." You don't see automobile manufacturers designing LESS comfortable cars, or medical advancements to make people LESS comfortable. If you don't take comfort in your life, you're just going to kill yourself with stress.

Like, as in, like that literally happens.

Rengar say, Comfort breeds weakness

You can acheiv very little by staying in your comfort zone, you have to try and risk the possibility of failure to achiev something great, like asking someone out. For most people that would be beyond their comfort zone.
#24 to #1 - anon (10/07/2013) [-]
While your point is valid, I think it means that comfort kills people's drive to do better and achieve more. Think of comfort as a synonym for contentment.
User avatar #28 to #1 - ICEDgrunge (10/07/2013) [-]
The way I see it, the phrase is insinuating a lot more than what it says, and a lot less in the direction you took it.
As tenlolilimit (I ******* hated typing your name) put it, I say it in another manner: "Contentment brings Complacency."
When one reaches the capacity for what they want to achieve, they lose their desire to go further, and lose sight of everything else they can bring about in life, because they saw the seat and took the breather.
As much as I hate to credit the stupid little health class I took way back in High School, such a thing does exist as good stress. Eu-stress. It's the push that motivates one to do something, and doesn't make you collapse in fear and apprehension.
Acting within a preferable limit of comfort leaves little potential to produce anything extraordinary, and working under distress yields the same resulting. Pushing yourself with that level of eu-stress and being outside of your comfort zone, however, benefits you with the desire to do something more, and gives you the boost needed to go that extra mile right from the beginning.

God, I feel like an Elementary gym teacher.
I don't necessarily believe all of the spew I just wrote, but this is what I believe the quote meant, more expository than anything.

I think what it's going for, is the fact that nobody ever built a ******* car or cured a goddamn disease feeling generally happy-go-lucky and in their comfort zone the entire time.
#6 to #1 - tenlolilimit (10/07/2013) [-]
i think it means more along the lines of you get content with what you have so you stop trying as hard to keep achieving more. i don't think it meant literally comfortable like a nice chair but that's just how i understood it.

"Go where you're celebrated not where you're tolerated."

This is the most narcissistic thing I've ever heard. Do you know how hard people have fought over the years simply to be tolerated in society? You don't have to be the life of the party wherever you go. You can be a normal person and be perfectly happy. Be glad that people aren't throwing bricks through your window or forcing you to walk on a certain side of the street or aren't calling you names.
User avatar #77 to #66 - destismad (10/07/2013) [-]
I sort of doubt the person who originally said that literally meant "celebrated", as in having parades due to your mere presence or what not. It means more that, some people will be happy to live with black people, gays, muslims, and all of the others which face discrimination, whilst others will simply ignore you and call names, hating you for who you are, which (I believe) is still wrong even if you don't say anything about it.
User avatar #81 to #77 - yuukoku (10/08/2013) [-]
I know that they didn't mean literally "celebrated," but apparently that's what people think they're literally entitled to nowadays. I mean, look at what we've got: Black history month? Where the **** is my Chinese history month, mother ******* ? How about our Eskimo history month for our cousins in Canada? Oh, I know! It just gets me angry when people seem to think that they're entitled to feel special. Sure, we should all feel good about ourselves and our race and heritage, but we shouldn't feel like other people have to celebrate us, too.

I'm sorry if I'm going off a little. It's been a long day with a lot of stupid people.
