Ive been to Amsterdam m8, and I saw their supposed-to-be-boring banks and their style, they were artistic as hell, the architectry is that a real word was unique, entrances were warped out of symmetry and **** . That was the day I respected the gold lover race.
No idea I've never been there but there's a few good way that humans have developed over the last few thousand years to prevent flood when and where they're anticipated with enough manpower and I can't imagine that town would've lasted more than a year without some way to regulate the water levels.
Water has been trying to kill us for centuries. Killed a bunch of us back in '57. Like a few weeks of rain would be enough to sink a city with waterways as roads.
If the world has a problem concerning water, they come to us. One of the very few things we can take unconditional pride in.
Nah, Dutch here. If you look at the pic it says Beneden NAP (Normaal Amsterdams pijl) that's the area which would get flooded if we had no dykes. And one time in 1953 we had terrible weather with alot of rain and a very tidy sea. Then a few dykes went out and a whole lotta bunch land, houses and people where swept away/drowned.
There is nothing unfair and cruel about life, it's just there, it was pure chance life even exists and the fact that it continues to exist is just the way it is.
What is cruel and unfair is society and other people. Whether you let that take you down is up to you. If you spend all the time you bitch on the intnernet pulling your life together you would have been somewhere else already.
