I understand why they say to put your seatbelts on (and i do it), but i always get reminded of all those moments in movies where they need to jump out of the car fast, or when their seatbelt gets jammed (and some cliche fire heading towards their fuel tank.)..

But yeah, i guess its useful to always use it.
User avatar #132 - khearts (01/01/2014) [-]
it's absurb how many people i know who don't wear seabelts. And whenever this topic comes up i always tell them this : "Well, it would be too late for you to regret later"

There are people like my mothers boyfriend who says he is claustrophobic with the seatbelt on, strange thing is that he has no problem with tight spaces otherwise.
User avatar #139 to #129 - mutzaki (01/01/2014) [-]
Must be a weird type of claustrophobia, or a poor excuse. I'm claustrophobic and seat belts don't trigger it whatsoever.

Oh Jim, I know people who keep the buckle in their right hand and refuse to plug it in just to pass the Police station and then release it. I saw someone holding on it for 10 ******* minutes

The way I see it is that people can do whatever they want except if they are endangering someone else's life.

Its not endangering anyone else life but his kids now have to go into foster care and have lost their father.

It amazes me how ******* laziness and being stubborn can lead people to early deaths.
>Texting on the highway
>Not buckling your seatbelt
>Not yielding when someone has the right of way
>Driving when you know you're drunk as ****

The sad truth is that the people who make those ****** decisions deserve the consequences of their bad choices.
#99 to #94 - ravesherp (01/01/2014) [-]
Sir, I would like to ask how smoking is either lazy or stubborn. In my opinion smoking is nothing more then like drinking coffee. Some people like it in the morning, other people like it while others are drinking coffee. Some people simply don't touch the stuff. You know the sad reality? Both smoking and drinking coffee harm your body equally, in different ways.

So sir, I'll ask again, how is smoking lazy or stubborn?
User avatar #156 to #99 - Bad Man (01/01/2014) [-]
Stubborn? Knowing how bad it is for you, and to a lesser extent, knowing what's in it, knowing how expensive it's becoming, etc.

And deciding to keep smoking anyway.
User avatar #118 to #99 - lespoisson (01/01/2014) [-]
yeah keep killing yourself and others around you. Its lazy cause you're to much of a ***** to stop
User avatar #124 to #118 - listerthepessimist (01/01/2014) [-]
surely laziness would be not making the trip to the shop to buy fags daily
#152 to #124 - ideae (01/01/2014) [-]
Really? Addicts feel compelled to smoke cigarettes. They're not going to worry about getting tired buying a pack, which most everyone has the ability for.

caffeine on occasion is beneficial for the body. smoking is simply poison like soda that you can do over and over. smoking may not be lazy but it is a leading cause of unintentional fires due to people just tossing cigarettes out the window rather than putting them in the built in tray.
User avatar #110 to #109 - kousei ONLINE (01/01/2014) [-]
first, A (singular) cup of coffee a day is actually healthy for you, (that's for ravesherp)
second, there are certain (albeit rare) circumstances where cigarettes are medicinal. Personal experience from when someone close to me stopped smoking, with her withdrawals she was having worsened symptoms for something else and the doctor actually told her to keep smoking.
Third, I started because my parents told me not to and my friends told me to, it's not that easy to stop (Lookin at you Bad Man) i can't just put it down and say "done" cut me some slack, we all made mistakes as a kid.

After I watched my boyfriend's dad die from lung cancer I quit cold turkey. It was a harsh wake-up call. Been over a year now. Good luck to ya man.
#111 to #110 - cawpikolo (01/01/2014) [-]
mmhmmm you can't just cold turkey the cigs or you get sick don't worry i know my father has been trying to stop for the last 5-6 years and went from a pack a day to 2-3 a day now. keep trying i hope you can quit some day if you're still trying.
#154 to #111 - ideae (01/01/2014) [-]
It is still better not to get addicted in the first place. Getting up after lying down is surely a harder task than standing up, but many are easily lured because they live in the present, see lying down an easier alternative to having to stand up all the time and start smoking their lungs away.
User avatar #112 to #111 - kousei ONLINE (01/01/2014) [-]

I dislike the law. I hope people dumb enough to not realize the importance of a seatbelt die because they weaken the flock. I would use a seatbelt anyway so it doesn't really hurt me at all.

I put the seatbelt on because I feel more comfy , its helps my back feel less pain while driving for long hours because I am sitting straight.

User avatar #57 - contradiction (01/01/2014) [-]
i understand why seat belts exist but...why is it a law?
why are you penalized for endangering yourself?
User avatar #68 to #57 - theviusking (01/01/2014) [-]
Because of families. People have hearts and don't really want to see people cry over deaths. Well Politicians do, but they aren't people.

I put my seatbelt on everytime before I start the engine.

Learned it that way and now it's in my routine.

Don't know why people keep forgetting it.
User avatar #53 - slunchy (01/01/2014) [-]
I used to be really misanthropic and think, "You know, if it wasn't for all the innocent casualties, we should just let people drive drunk, not wear seatbelts, and make all drugs legal. I'm not talking about pot, I'm talking about the drugs that make your dick fall off. Let all these people kill themselves off via natural selection." Sadly, however, the ******* that drives drunk stands a good chance of crashing into somebody that isn't a total waste of space, and that's not cool. So I guess we should just keep trucking'...
User avatar #102 to #53 - mrselfdestruct (01/01/2014) [-]
Well in your misanthropic thought you already mentioned "If it wasn't for all the innocent casualties"
#51 - anonymous (01/01/2014) [-]
You're required to wear a seatbelt because it could be dangerous not to. But you can ride around on one of these without so much as a helmet in some states. Don't get me wrong, I like seatbelts, I like motorcycles. It just seems a little hypocritical to have mandatory seatbelts unless but you can ride around on a small, hard to see, extremely fragile vehicle with literally no protection from anything.
#119 to #51 - anonymous (01/01/2014) [-]
helmets can actually be more harmful than no helmets.

Drivers subconsciously think you're safer if you're hit so they're more reckless
You're subconsciously more reckless thinking you're safe.
Pavement impact is more likely due to size addition.

It's like how footballers had few head injuries before helmets, and now they go all out and get a ******** of brain damage.

#77 to #51 - giggawatt (01/01/2014) [-]
I guess the motorcycle is more lenient on laws because theres nothing really protecting you from impact to begin with so they just thought **** it
#55 to #51 - youxbarstard (01/01/2014) [-]
Which is why I find it weird that I feel safer on on one of those than I do in a car.
