All bananas are the same genetically and currently there is a disease that will destroy every single one of them because there is no diversity, soon we shall have a new banana standard.

Was eating banana ice cream when i saw this post. My entire life is shattering before me...

Banana ice cream sounds amazing. Neapolitan would be baller as **** if they replaced vanilla with banana.

In 'Murica, we aint got no time for peeling bananas and then pouring chocolate all over it. Just give it to me in one package.
User avatar #42 to #21 - whatasickname (10/23/2013) [-]
Haha! I'm from new jersey, mate! i can't find straight banana ice cream. This kind of ben & Jerry's has chocolate and walnuts in it, but the straight banana ice cream would be amazing

We are kinda like the Ophrys Apifera orchid.

Except there is proof that the organism we mimic is extinct and existed in the first place.
User avatar #16 to #13 - Blargosnarf (10/23/2013) [-]
Except bees don't openly mate like most other animals, only a single designated queen is able to reproduce after being fertilized by a male drone. Said drones are completely useless ***** , doing NOTHING for the hive except eating the resources, the ***** probably don't even know how to pollinate a flower.

Except for the myriad species of bees that are solitary, like bumblebees and leafcutter bees.

Right now banana plague 2.0 is happening. It's mutated form of the bacteria that wiped out the gros michel. Here watch this and spread banana awareness.

I like banana flavored things, but not bananas. I don't know why.
User avatar #51 to #49 - brigettasandra (10/23/2013) [-]
Did you read it? Because banana flavoring comes from a different type of banana than the fruit that you can find in a store.

So you like one type of banana, just not the other. (Like preference between apple types.)
User avatar #66 to #51 - Dwarf (10/23/2013) [-]
That's not actually true though. I don't like apples, bananas, ******* , or cherries, but I still eat all of the flavors.
User avatar #143 to #66 - brigettasandra (10/25/2013) [-]
Then you don't have a preference which makes your comment irrelevant.
User avatar #144 to #143 - Dwarf (10/25/2013) [-]
I don't see how it's irrelevant. I don't like the fruits, but I liked the fruit flavored things. The picture isn't 100% accurate, because it's not going to taste exactly like the food it's mimicking.
User avatar #145 to #144 - brigettasandra (10/25/2013) [-]
I said that liking the flavoring but not the present day fruit is a preference between fruits of the same type. Like apples. Some prefer granny smith over brae burn. This is a preference. I had misinterpreted your comment.

What I should have said was "what I had said towards FatherPedobear was specific for him, a reason for his preference. I wasn't making a generalization." When I said "you like" in comment 51, I was referring specifically to him. Not everyone.

I did indeed read it. But I'm not sure that the flavor is vastly different. Or was.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gros_Michel_banana

"The clone ‘Dwarf Cavendish’, today’s food banana in the west, has a different flavour, a different morphology (‘Gros Michel’ is slimmer) and unlike ‘Gros Michel’ they do not turn fully yellow in tropical lowlands. "

And,

"The original 'Gros Michel' variety is a top export for producing countries in Malaysia and Thailand, with the grade A bananas being exported to Japan, and increasingly to China. This original Cavendish is preferred for its unique fragrance which is said to have a much blander taste."

There may come a day when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake out fruits and break all bonds of nutrition, but it is not this day. An hour of scurvy, and shattered bananas, when the age of fruit comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight! I bid you stand, scientists of the fruits!

Yep and now the same thing is happening to the Cavendish several plantations have been burnt to the ground in an attempt to halt the spread.
The top scientists of bananas are doing all they can to try to cure it.
