retroviruses are pretty amazing, they can create DNA from RNA by going through transcription backwards

hence the retro part! that being said retroviruses can actually be useful in gene therapy

i know who you are! you are an asshole!
for those of you that don't know this is e. coli bacteria. The virus above is a bacteriophage. Bacteriophages infect bacteria like Ecoli and can make them virulent in the case of Ecoli it causes the creation of shiga toxins. and no shiga toxin is not a coincidental name for what it makes you do.

Viruses always scared the **** out of me

They don't seem natural at all, they aren't even living creatures

They look more like little machines made from living organisms

Bacteriophages are the coolest viruses ever.

What's cooler than a virus that only infects bacterium and looks like a tiny robot made out of proteins? Nothing.

I had a nightmare the other day when I had this cut on my thigh. It was really itchy so I kept scratching it until something looks like a bot fly larvae emerged. I tried to squeeze it out and it was 1 of these thing, as big as a pinkie finger. I squeezed more and more of it popped out, covered in my blood.

Its amazing how I remember the shape so well but forgot they're viruses, until I see this post.
#22 to #21 - xxxgnipsxxx (02/11/2014) [-]
That must be slightly horrifying
#54 to #21 - John Cena (02/11/2014) [-]
"forgot they're viruses"

No, you didn't forget. If those were botfly larvae they would look like this, if there were thousands of viruses gathered in one spot they would be smaller than .

Good luck having that be popular in Madagascar
