They are friendlier in the book, but still noticeably less so than everyone else.

Jesus, just imagine Gandalf with an AK as his weapon and also able to use spells with it

Silly grunt.
AK's are magic without spells.

He´s a demigod who took part in the creation of the world - I doubt an AK would change any of his powers...
User avatar #32 to #31 - gruntmastr ONLINE (08/30/2014) [-]
but one more power would be added to him to make him the best wizard. Bullets.

The best reasoning I can see is; Bilbo (Frodo's caretaker) let Thranduil's (Legolas' father) Dwarven slaves free, which would of course cause some bad blood. Not to mention elves are notorious for thinking they are better than everyone else anyways, and hobbits are generally on the bottom of the social ladder.
User avatar #2 to #1 - ifightdragons (08/30/2014) [-]
legolas and gimli being bffs goes against what youre saying . the real reason is they werent really around each other to talk after the first movie they parted ways for most of the trilogy
#3 to #2 - compadrepie ONLINE (08/30/2014) [-]
Gimli and legolas coming bff's is bigger thing in the book than it is in the movies. The uniqueness of their friendship didn't transfer to the movies well enough
User avatar #4 to #1 - ljxjlos (08/30/2014) [-]
They fought together afterwards, tho, in the Battle of 5 Armies and Thranduil forgave Bilbo, going as far as honoring him personally - the reason is simply that the movies and the books did not have enough space to bring up personal bonds between every character. Not to mention that the fellowship didn´t hold that long until Frodo and Samweiß left.

Browsing FJ at 01:20 on a saturday night, after spending all the day at home.

It's days like this that make you realize just how much you miss school...
User avatar #42 to #41 - ljxjlos (08/30/2014) [-]
Same here - luckily, tho, wouldn´t have made the weekend without being able to relax a bit tonight.

Don´t get me started, I´m finishing University right now. I´d give my left arm to be back in school
User avatar #43 to #42 - victhree (08/30/2014) [-]
Ugh, I've never been one for parties, I prefer to relax, read and that kinda stuff...

btw, I don't always get to talk to a eurobro, congrats on the world cup!
User avatar #44 to #43 - ljxjlos (08/30/2014) [-]
I do both - I can´t go a week without relaxing and reading 2,3 books, but neither can I go without going out once or twice the week. Feels to lonely, right now because I life alone for University (moving out, tho, as I´m finishing my bachelors)

Same here - not too much of a football fan, tho, I watched two games and slept during half of the finale. Woke up when the fireworks started and joined the party, tho.
User avatar #47 to #44 - victhree (08/30/2014) [-]
Haha, same here. I only watch the final and some bits of spain's matches, but when we won I celebrated it like there was no tomorrow (there probably wasn't) because my family is a lot into football.

On the last months I've been browsing fj way too much, but now i'm reading again as much as when I was a kid, and it feels good to just sit back and get immersed in the book...

Well, it's late and I'm for once feeling sleepy, cya!
User avatar #49 to #47 - ljxjlos (08/30/2014) [-]
Yeah, the WM is kinda neat for celebrating, can´t deny that...

University has taken a toll on both for me, tbh - also I had to bring all my books to out old house cause I´m emptying my flat:/ it´s kinda sad.

Well, good night, then. seeya

The only other time they could have had a short conversation was at the end when Frodo was in bed, waking up to see his friends. He says all their names and they run to him and all that. But when he sees Legolas he just looks at him like

They don't even have conversations in the book? I think that's fine for the movies because it wouldn't work trying to develop relationships between every character.

Possibly reflected in the end of ROTK when the Fellowship comes together again, Frodo exclaims Aragorn & Gimli's names when seeing them again but not with Legolas

YEAH. THAT SURE IS A PROBLEM IN THAT MOVIE THAT YOU WATCHED. WHAT A SHAME THERE ISN'T A BOOK OR SOMETHING WHERE THAT ISN'T THE CASE.

HOW ABOUT THOSE EAGLES, HUH? WHAT A STUPID PLAN.
