Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need:
10ft (3.048m) of paracord
1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing
Scissors (something to cut the cord with)
Lighter (something to melt the cord with)
Needle Nose Pliers for tightening
Split key ring

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Start by holding the ball bearing in between two of your fingers like this.

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Wrap the paracord around your fingers like this until the ball is completely covered, keeping the cord as close together as possible. Remember the number of wraps, and then fold the cord across the bottom finger as you see in the top right of the pic.

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Continue wrapping the next layer, going in the direction that you folded the cord in the previous step and between your fingers. Use the same number of wraps that you used in the first wrapping to keep it uniform.

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Now you need to slide the whole thing off of your fingers so that you can begin the next and final wrap.

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Wrap the cord around the second wrap, going through the loops where your fingers went through the first wrap. Keep this wrap tight and it will save you some time in the tightening process coming up.

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Starting where you ended the first wrap (where you folded it around your bottom finger), start puling the wraps tight by pulling it through one side, then the other until you pull the cord out from where you started the wrap. DO NOT TIGHTEN ALL THE WAY YET AS IT WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS! Tightening all the way in this step will make it very difficult to tighten the other wraps.

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Go to where you started the third wrap and tighten the second wrap, going back towards the first wrap. Once you get back to where it turns and becomes the first wrap again, repeat the previous step where you tighten the first wrap. This time you can tighten it all the way down.

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Now tighten the third and final wrap, starting at the second and working your way toward the end that you finished wrapping. Needle nose pliers come in really handy for this, as you have tightened the other wraps all the way down. You should end up with something that looks like this.

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Determine which of the cords is shorter (you should have 2 cords hanging down about 2ft (60.96cm) long) and cut it off as close to the ball as possible. Carefully melt the ends, using something to smash the melted part down on the ball. I use a finger that I have dipped in water, but you have to be really careful in this because paracord is basically woven together plastic strings, and when hot and melted it will stick to you like napalm.

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Lay everything down, and then measure 5 inches (12.7cm) down the cord that is still attached to the ball and fold it there back up to the base of the ball. Take the short cord (the one we just cut off) and place it in between the fold as shown.

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Pick the whole thing up as close to the base as possible, being sure to keep the cords together. Cross one of the cords to the left (to be referred to as the "front" cord) and one to the right (to be the "back" cord)

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Take the front cord and cross it back across the front of the cords that are hanging down, making sure to leave a loop at the side that it came from. Then take the back cord, loop it around the front cord, and cross it behind the others and through the loop in the front cord. Pull this tight, and you should have something like this. This is called a "Cobra Weave" and you can find several detailed videos on how to do it properly with a simple google search. Continue this process, keeping the front cord in the front and the back in the back, until you only have about a quarter inch (round about a centimeter) left on the cords that were hanging down.

How to make another thing. Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need: 10ft (3.048m) of paracord 1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing Scissors (some

Put the split key ring on at the bottom of the loop, then continue your cobra weave until the cord is right up against it. Then, trim the ends off and melt them down like we did up against the ball.
Voila! You have now completed a very effective self defense carry key chain.
I must warn you to use this very carefully, as it can cause severe damage.
Let me know what you all want next!

That is probably no more legal to carry than a baton.
Would rather have a baton.

you're saying that you'll be arrested... for a metal ball wrapped with string... not even a big ball.. it's like twice the size of your thumb.... they'll arrest you for that

well.. at least you can buy a big sac of marbles at the store

this one can be used as a weapon though

People get arrested for having slapjacks.
That's just a ball of lead attached to a leather strap.

Maybe in the UK, I can't see that happening elsewhere.

"Man arrested for having a ball of paracord on his keychain"
User avatar #21 to #20 - sinery (11/05/2015) [-]
If the cop is looking to arrest you, he will.
That is no different than a slapjack.
And of course it will also be a so called assault weapon if you happen to use it.
#22 to #21 - thevaulthunter (11/05/2015) [-]
Unless you use it, there's no way of knowing it's a weapon. It looks like a neat monkey fist keychain. Yes, monkey fist keychains are legal. No, they are not seen as weapons. No, there's no way of knowing that this is a weapon unless its used.

Oi, how do you make it with 2 different cords?

i wish i could post some pictures of the paracord figurines i;ve made, but i dont have them with me right now. heres the one picture i have

sorry it's sideways.

i've been making paracord figurines the last couple weeks, this is the zombie and soldier i made, i currently have a whole army worth of guys, but i dont have them with me. I've made rambo, a merc, a navy sailor, a gunslinger, a 40's gangster, a hazmat suit guy, a robomech with a minigun, a browning .50 cal, and a ton of other guys as well as guns for them. I'll take a picture as soon as i can, but yeah.

its not clear in the picture, but all over the zombie is a bunch of blood and stuff dripped over him, also with melted paracord

With one this size Its really just a keychain. Make a big one with one on each end of rope and light them one fire and you have a meteor hammer.
User avatar #7 to #4 - itsgnar (11/04/2015) [-]
It's like filling a sock with a rock and swinging it around, but with parcord and a steel ball.

So yeah, pretty much. It's likely to hurt even more if the cord is longer than that, though. But it's supposed to be a key chain so I guess the maker decides that factor in the end.
User avatar #32 to #7 - highkey (11/05/2015) [-]
It would hurt if the ball was more than an inch in diameter or it wasn't wrapped in a soft cord.
Honestly, your fists will do a lot more damage than this pitiful thing. This is mostly to look pretty, not defend yourself.
#84 to #32 - frostshaitan (11/05/2015) [-]
And wrapped up tight that cord isnt soft...

I think there is a missing step?
I finished my monkey fist and it didn't turn pink.

Sorry, I was using what was left of my yellow which was not quite enough to complete the cobra weave on the handle. The pink one was made for a friend of mine's girlfriend and is what gave me the idea to do the how to.

Been there, done that. Just add on to this and attach another weave to the side with buckles instead of key rings.
User avatar #37 - leanonwut (11/05/2015) [-]
Don't attach this to car keys. You will destroy your ignition over time if it doesn't have a brace for the key to rest in.
User avatar #38 to #37 - iceblue [OP](11/05/2015) [-]
True. I carry two sets of keys, one for my car with only the key, the fob, and a flash drive while the other I have all of my house keys, work keys and the like on.

Had to replace my ex-stepmom's ignition twice because she had a 10 pound keychain. I still don't know how she found anything on it.
