How to make another thing
Alright, let's get this how to started. First you will need:
10ft (3.048m) of paracord
1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing
Scissors (something to cut the cord with)
Lighter (something to melt the cord with)
Needle Nose Pliers for tightening
Split key ring
10ft (3.048m) of paracord
1in (2.54cm) steel ball bearing
Scissors (something to cut the cord with)
Lighter (something to melt the cord with)
Needle Nose Pliers for tightening
Split key ring
Start by holding the ball bearing in between two of your fingers like this.
Wrap the paracord around your fingers like this until the ball is completely covered, keeping the cord as close together as possible. Remember the number of wraps, and then fold the cord across the bottom finger as you see in the top right of the pic.
Continue wrapping the next layer, going in the direction that you folded the cord in the previous step and between your fingers. Use the same number of wraps that you used in the first wrapping to keep it uniform.
Now you need to slide the whole thing off of your fingers so that you can begin the next and final wrap.
Wrap the cord around the second wrap, going through the loops where your fingers went through the first wrap. Keep this wrap tight and it will save you some time in the tightening process coming up.
Starting where you ended the first wrap (where you folded it around your bottom finger), start puling the wraps tight by pulling it through one side, then the other until you pull the cord out from where you started the wrap. DO NOT TIGHTEN ALL THE WAY YET AS IT WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS! Tightening all the way in this step will make it very difficult to tighten the other wraps.
Go to where you started the third wrap and tighten the second wrap, going back towards the first wrap. Once you get back to where it turns and becomes the first wrap again, repeat the previous step where you tighten the first wrap. This time you can tighten it all the way down.
Now tighten the third and final wrap, starting at the second and working your way toward the end that you finished wrapping. Needle nose pliers come in really handy for this, as you have tightened the other wraps all the way down. You should end up with something that looks like this.
Determine which of the cords is shorter (you should have 2 cords hanging down about 2ft (60.96cm) long) and cut it off as close to the ball as possible. Carefully melt the ends, using something to smash the melted part down on the ball. I use a finger that I have dipped in water, but you have to be really careful in this because paracord is basically woven together plastic strings, and when hot and melted it will stick to you like napalm.
Lay everything down, and then measure 5 inches (12.7cm) down the cord that is still attached to the ball and fold it there back up to the base of the ball. Take the short cord (the one we just cut off) and place it in between the fold as shown.
Pick the whole thing up as close to the base as possible, being sure to keep the cords together. Cross one of the cords to the left (to be referred to as the "front" cord) and one to the right (to be the "back" cord)
Take the front cord and cross it back across the front of the cords that are hanging down, making sure to leave a loop at the side that it came from. Then take the back cord, loop it around the front cord, and cross it behind the others and through the loop in the front cord. Pull this tight, and you should have something like this. This is called a "Cobra Weave" and you can find several detailed videos on how to do it properly with a simple google search. Continue this process, keeping the front cord in the front and the back in the back, until you only have about a quarter inch (round about a centimeter) left on the cords that were hanging down.

Put the split key ring on at the bottom of the loop, then continue your cobra weave until the cord is right up against it. Then, trim the ends off and melt them down like we did up against the ball.
Voila! You have now completed a very effective self defense carry key chain.
I must warn you to use this very carefully, as it can cause severe damage.
Let me know what you all want next!
