holy crap, seeing this picture sent a blast of flashbacks through my head! I played some kind of h-game like years and years and years ago that was so good with this character, and I don't even know who she is! And I had forgotten completely about it until I saw this again. Thank you so much.

Training to be a paramedic and had a few ride alongs with the local fire department. Gotta say it was one of the best experiences I've had in my life of career building. You guys do good work while having a great time when not responding. Made me feel like I was in a productive and not completely brain dead frat house. Don't know why I felt compelled to share that with you so... good job fire dude

Navy brat here.

A lot of us call it the chair force for a joke, because so little people in the air force actually.. Fly planes.
User avatar #154 to #140 - chudan (10/04/2013) [-]
And you are surrounded by seamen. How does it feel?
User avatar #156 to #140 - gobnick (10/04/2013) [-]
ah, but the air force has PJ's, and i'd argue any day that they're probably top of the list of special forces, or right behind first place
User avatar #178 to #156 - fadetometallica (10/04/2013) [-]
If anybody is more badass than them, it's Combat Controllers. Which, hey, also Air Force.
User avatar #186 to #178 - gobnick (10/05/2013) [-]
not trying to be disrespectful to any branches at all, honestly i can't even imagine risking my life for this ******** government (sorry, just a little pissed about the shutdown), but yes, i feel as though the air force, while mostly all they do is sit and/or fly, there are the rare SF among them, and they are the elite of all combatants....just sayin (basically i agree with you fadetometallica, just tryin to point out how badass these guys are while not trying to **** on anyone else)
User avatar #189 to #186 - fadetometallica (10/05/2013) [-]
Yeah man. I'm in the Air Force and live on a base where we have some PJ's stationed. Saw one today. Dude just had this way about how he walked.

And yeah, we get **** because most of us don't fight. But fixing planes instead of carrying an M-4 doesn't mean I'm a lazy **** . I use my brain fixing Avionics systems way more than any grunt.
User avatar #199 to #189 - gobnick (10/05/2013) [-]
true, and you've had the same training or similar training, i'm sure you could defend yourself just as well (although with less practice because you don't have to apply that too often, being on an air base or cruiser), so everyone just needs to have respect for what each branch does, everyone is on the same side and works probably just as hard, when you start to nit-pick about who takes more risk sure you kinda have a point, but you make it seem as if you think you're the only one worthy of praise (not you, you simply made a point, and a good one at that)
#81 - crazyeyedbioll (10/04/2013) [-]
someone in the chair force doing very little next to nothing and getting paid for it? Never heard of that before

It's a joke bud. Every branch has it's stereotype jokes they all play on each other if you didnt know. air (chair) force sits around being lazy and gets paid for it. navy is ultra gay, marines are a mix of army dumb and navy gay, then you have the army being fat and dumb. All a big loving family, all are just jokes. Cheers to you for serving bro

I'm assuming Specialized Mechanic. I have a lot of respect for you guys.

I unintentionally sort of nearly kind of ruined one of our guys hard work on an engine in one fell swoop on a landing one time and didn't hear the end of it for about a month.

He's an "essential" worker or some nonsense. they need him for the flight wing, dunno why though.
User avatar #192 to #190 - garymotherfinoak (10/05/2013) [-]
doesn't matter, you cant be forced to work without pay, that's slave labor. and if he's an essential, he should be getting ******* paid.
User avatar #194 to #192 - losers (10/05/2013) [-]
He could just quit any time he wanted, but honestly most of the people there are completely lost without him. He's an "essential", but he works as a civilian now doing the same job he's been doing for the past 20 years..

User avatar #146 to #143 - darman (10/04/2013) [-]
Basically, some 80 House Republicans were upset about our new Health Care Reform Law and have decided to hold the budget hostage to prevent it from taking action forcing a partial shut down of the Unite States Government.
User avatar #147 to #143 - tiredofthis (10/04/2013) [-]
The american senate couldn't decide on a budget plan so all non-essential government personnel are basically out of a job until the senate can get its **** together... whenever the hell that is.

I thought it was the House of Representative, which is I suppose ROUGHLY equivalent to the House of Commons in some countries.

One of my buddies is in the Air Force, he's SERE. He's been staying with my other friend in the AF who is a firefighter. Both haven't gotten paid. Both have to clean up the mess that a PMC company made and not get paid for it. 0/10. But my firefighter friend has a metric **** ton of booze and tobacco in surplus at his house, so 5/10 could be better.
User avatar #152 to #137 - larfang ONLINE (10/04/2013) [-]
I think OP is still being paid because he's still in training (hence training squadron) while your buddy is active duty. I may or may not be correct, but I feel that may be the answer.
