Samsung SERIES 7 Chronos Laptop Dude I own this stylish mobile thin (2cm) laptop and I even run it at ultra in 1080p (without MSAA though) at a constant 45-50 fps.

custom. My fist desktop i have to admit :') .
The tower worth 1.1k € with more than one/third in graphic cards (for gaming, this is the thing to respect) :
-bitfenix prodigy
- i5 4670 (no K, no oc but 20 € less and good a=enough for 4 years )
- so i can buy a low price MB : asrock b85m itx
- Zotac GTX 770 Amp! (gtx 770 is a good choice in Nvidia or 7970ghz amd's)
- a 256 ssd + another one from old comp ( i have external one for movies ect)
- A good power supply is very important though: I have a seasonic G650 (a good 500w would be fair enough though)
- need some great fans though: I bough Nh-L12 for the intel. Since no OC, no need OP huges fans. And the fans included ine bitfenix for extraction plus another "pull in" in front.

(Sry about my english, if you have some questions, im ok bro ;) )

Thanks. looks like some good gear and i never exactly knew where to go regarding "what is a good graphics card" as well as other components but you've given me a good jumping off point

Indeed. Ironically I have a Macbook that can run BF3 at 1440x900, 60 fps, high textures, low FXAA, minimal everything else. It's not a gaming PC by any stretch of the imagination, but it works well enough.

I understand the superior power of tower PCs. But come on man, Asus has some pretty great gaming laptops. I'm typing on a G75vw right now and i think it's great. It runs BF3 on max graphics perfectly.

There is no such a thing as an "HP" pc or laptop , what matters is what's inside !

Got my System from Ibuypower, Over clock is still stable (put a I7 960 at 3.8ghz as well as an overclocked GTX 570) and don't have any problems as of yet. Only problems i had were with Fed-Ex, the Son-of-a-bitch delivering it, literally Threw it out of the back of his truck, just ****** everything in it, called IBP and they had Fed-ex pay for return shipping, and gave me an upgrade 64gb SSD to 124gb SSD for half the price.

Also, that was 3 years ago now, so they could be different now....

TLR- i would buy from them again, IF it could be shipped by UPS

Asus G55VW reporting in. Also able to run almost anything on max settings with no problems. The only game I can't do that on is Metro 2033 which is a pretty demanding game, graphically speaking.

sarcasm fail... I have the G75VW and it plays every game I want flawlessly. I'd put it up against a PS3, 360 and a lot of desktops any day of the week.
I love my laptop

while that laptop is certianly better than x360. it isn't close to a good medium cat PC.

the CPU in your laptop will never be as fast as the same CPU in a PC. Same goes for your graphics card too.

my 4 years old secondary config can play BF3 on ultra (well it's only in 1080p and only 4x AA)... so that's not really an achievement

Quick question. im planning to get a new pc (since mine is almost 4 years old and it overheats like hell) and ive heard a mix of complete hate and zen complacency regarding windows 8. is it worth the switch or should i stick to 7 till windows pumps out their next os?

I actually do like a lot of the features for navigating my system... Almost all the windows 8 features work while in desktop mode. But like I said, the main page with all the tiles doesn't really do it for me. the front screen tile page might be cool if on a tablet though.
