On fathers day, my dog ran away and crashed a party at some ones house. He just chilled out there while people fed him sausage. Anytime he runs away, he always makes a b-line for that house. He's a black lab, and it is a black family that lives there, so he probably just wants to be with his people. Honkies can be stifling at times.

Speaking of lost pets.

When I was 15, my cat ran way Some asshole broke into our home, and the cat jumped out the window the thief left open .
I searched for him day and night, but couldn't find him anywhere.

I found him 8 months later, he was so weak he couldn't walk home on his own, but he got back to health in no time. Happiest day of my life.

Similar thing happened with us, our cat had gone missing and five months later a close friend of mine called me telling me a cat that looked like ours followed her home. Turns out we hung out so much my scent rubbed off on her and my cat recognized it.

When I was 8 one of our cats went missing. A group pf greyhounds had escaped their pen and were running around on the field behind my house, where they usually trained with their owners. The owner called and said that it looked as if they had eaten something.
I still remeber what house they lived in.

I'm a hunter, and before we had tracking collars (G.P.S. nor satellite) we would let the dogs out after a deer and do the same thing when we lost track of the race or couldn't find some dogs. We'd tie a dirty shirt to a branch and go eat lunch. We'd come back after a couple hours and they were eating the bowl of food that we'd left under the shirt.
So I can confirm that this works.

why run them on deer?
User avatar #26 to #23 - unncommon (01/30/2014) [-]
So that way you can kill the deer and eat him.

I'm pretty sure chasing deer with dogs is illegal. Where do you live?

I live in the great state of Florida and it's perfectly legal everywhere in the United States as long as you pay the tax to get the Dog Running stamp on your hunting license.

My GF recently got a cat. This cat is, at best estimate, 7 years old. He's declared and was found on the streets with severely matted fur, sunburned ears, a broken back claw (will probably have to be removed), and he was entirely skin and bones. but goddamn is he the cutest cat I've ever seen. If you're sleeping he'll curl up in the blanket with you. He does everything a kitten does every cat i've ever owned grew out of the kitten behaviors by the time they were 3 . He refuses to be picked up unless he's wrapped up in a blanket, and even then he's not afraid. he just seems to have something more important to do. He likes car rides, but only if he's wrapped up in a blanket. And he has a little sweater he wears because he's thin and they had to shave his fur don't worry, be don't put it on him because it's cute... even though it is... we put it on because he's cold otherwise.
We like to think that he had an amazing life before we met him. Homeless veteran lost his/her home. the only thing they could bring with them was the cat. The cat had to be wrapped up to ease transport, and was so cute that people gave the vet extra money. but something happened to the veteran, and the cat was on his own. My GF's roommate is planning to write a short story about his "life." If you guys want, I can share it once she finishes it.

That is truly depressing OP.

Reminds me of the time I saw a missing dog sign, except in the picture, the dog didn't have any legs.

We lost our dog a few years back, and we paid a women to help. I don't remember what her job title was exactly. But she had her dog smell something of ours that smelt like our dog, and her dog was able to lead us exactly to where she had been sleeping over the past few days (she was lost about a week), and sure enough we left the article of clothing there and found her the next day. It was truly amazing
