Yeah, I'm pretty sure its a vestigial organ.
User avatar #343 to #323 - iamnuff (11/08/2013) [-]
ok. i'm fine with that.

my sisters burst and almost killed her, the doctors refused to believe it that might be Appendicitis, she was told it was gas, then a stomech ulcer, then they did like 4 pregnency tests, then sent her home, unable to even sit up without agony.

finally, on the 3rd day, our mother stormed in and shouted and screamed at them until someone did a ******* X-ray, then they tried to put off her surgery because "she's sleeping so peacefully" (AKA: knocked the **** out on morphine because she couldn't stand the pain)

finally they did the surgery (after more shouting) and it ruptured while they were doing it, the doctor came back and told us "lucky we caught it when we did, a couple more hours and she could have died"

******* NHS is in such a **** state.

hire more doctors, hire more nurses, stop closing hospitals and use our tax money for what it was intended for, instead of buying a fourth house in Spain!

******* government.

Wow, thats kinda **** . At least your sister is fine now.

When we were in New Zealand, they found out my brother had appendicitis early and managed to remove it before anything happened. And thats about the closest I've ever gotten to the matter.

well actually in most states they hold a closed primary where we can only vote for just democrats or just republicans. Also gerrymandering look it up is causing the gridlock in washington. all in all if more people would vote we wouldnt have gridlock in congress

User avatar #310 to #245 - buttgauges (11/08/2013) [-]
To be fair, it's not like we are given only two people to vote for overall. They're just the two that it has been broken down to. There are other choices for the Republican/Democrat party that we get to choose from. It's called the primaries.
User avatar #97 to #32 - shitposts (11/07/2013) [-]
Don't blame the people, blame the electoral college. voting for a 3rd party in a system where the winner takes it all only hurts the two parties you agree with most. It is essentially throwing your vote down the ******* .

User avatar #99 to #95 - eddymolly (11/07/2013) [-]
I dunno, its not so bad. There's a lot of waste, and some things are pretty poor and need updating etc, but compared to other healthcare systems, its not that bad.

Compared to a big business or something, its ******* appalling, if it were a company it would have been shut down years ago, but in terms of healthcare systems, its pretty good.
#142 to #99 - anon (11/07/2013) [-]

User avatar #225 to #142 - eddymolly (11/08/2013) [-]
Every country in the world has a national debt. Its no surprise, if a country didn't, it would mean they're doing something wrong
#340 to #225 - anon (11/08/2013) [-]
okay, let's look at this way:

UK has around 10trillion debt, which is 406% debt to gdp... high debt low income.

US has around 17 trillion debt but only at 106%... higher debt, but MUCH higher income

while UK has less debt, it is in deeper **** with it's own debt than US with it's more debt.

let's look at it this way: UK has $100 debt, US has $170. you would say "hah US has almost twice the debt".. which might be true, but it doesn't matter since US earns around $169 while UK only earns $25.

You have to watch it from the beginning though or else you'll just think they're assholes and none of it will make sense
User avatar #73 to #27 - CakemanRPG (11/07/2013) [-]
But they ARE assholes. In almost every episode their enormous egos get them into serious trouble. Remember that episode where their bar got a bad review in the paper and they all went to the guys office and told him "they would give HIM another chance to write a good review" instead of "will you give US another chance?"
User avatar #116 to #73 - hektoroftroy (11/07/2013) [-]
No they're definitely assholes, but they're more than that they're funny assholes.
If you've never seen it before and you randomly watch the episode where Frank makes Charlie and Sweet Dee think they ate human meat, you'd be disgusted and hate the show
User avatar #131 to #116 - CakemanRPG (11/07/2013) [-]
I watch sunny regularly. Dennis is a narcissistic douche; Mac is a poser who pretends to be badass because he yearns to be accepted; Sweet dee is a vain and incredibly insecure; Charlie is mentally unhinged (most likely due to prolonged exposure to inhalents), and Frank is a double crossing, cheapskate criiminal. My favorite episode is when they're all trying to get to the cinema to see Thundergun (Sunny equivilant of TDKR), but they do the most outrageous **** to get there in time.
User avatar #306 to #131 - sardinez (11/08/2013) [-]
Well the description on netflix is four narcissistic friends run a Philadelphia bar, the whole show is based around how they all have goals and undermine each other to achieve them

That is the overall plot. but my statement is just a summary of each character.

The real problem is that in America the cost of health care is 2(+)x higher than than it is in most countries.

Meaning that everything costs double or more for the same quality found in other countries. Hell, get this: U.S. hospitals are found to be one of the most efficient in the world, but the price isn't cheaper, it's multiplied. Again, for the same amount of quality.

We spend the most on healthcare but can't cover all our people, while other countries spend less and cover all their people.

Then we've got insurance if you don't have insurance your super uber charged.
I'm just going to say this once:

The healthcare industry in America, is ****** up.

I feel like part of the reason government healthcare wouldn't work here is because we have such a "parasitic" population. We have large numbers of people who leech off the system, while never giving anything back.
User avatar #52 to #50 - abeam (11/07/2013) [-]
That and the fact that we have over 300 million people in the country, countries that have good healthcare systems, such as those in Scandinavia and such, they have populations of at the maximum 20 million, saying we should just "Model Sweden's system, its working for them!" is just plain wrong.
#59 to #52 - anon (11/07/2013) [-]
But doesn't more people mean tax revenue and therefore more money to spend on the healthcare system?
User avatar #196 to #59 - abeam (11/07/2013) [-]
Think of it this way though, the average Swede spends over 60% of his paycheck in taxes, the average American much less, if you had 60% taxes, you would not be a happy camper. That is the cost of having "Free" Healthcare, no such thing as free anything, somewhere down the line you pay for it.
User avatar #145 to #59 - dentalfloss ONLINE (11/07/2013) [-]
If only we weren't spending half of our discretionary spending on Defense. Also, it would help if students didn't have to pay $100k+ to get a degree in Medicine.

You'd also have access to more resources, including money, doctors, and hospitals than Sweden.

It scales if you're willing to try.

From what I hear, some of Europe doesn't have a welfare system. So they probably don't have to deal with scumbags/leeches who the general public has to pay for. So they don't picture the idea of having to do that, like most Americans do.
