No, this doesn't work.

The South East is renowned for having swamps and very wet terrain, they are obviously the water nation

The South West, West Coast (and Texas) are known for being extremely hot, but livable climate, therefore they are the fire nation.

I agree with the Air nation

And finally the North East is renowned for having mines, old stone buildings and being the oldest settled part of the USA, therefore having them as the Earth kingdom makes the most sense.

The fire nation was an island chain covered in tropical rainforest. It was probably a very wet place.

I feel like Alaska should be the North water tribe and the south east should be south water tribe.

What would you say in terms of Europe oh mighty geography master?
User avatar #172 to #166 - Crusader (10/28/2013) [-]
Honestly, I don't know enough about the geography of Europe, I know that it's relatively chaotic, some areas having lots of rain next to areas with massive mountain chains and areas that are cold that are further south than the more mild countries.

I think minnesota should be half water nation, I mean come on we be making it snows and rains all the time.
#165 to #162 - anon (10/27/2013) [-]
Not to mention the fact that it's called "the land of 10,000 lakes."
#159 to #6 - anon (10/27/2013) [-]
Wouldn't canucks also be water? Since snow and ice and what not.

User avatar #149 to #6 - asthmetheus (10/27/2013) [-]
I'd say we'd be waterbenders, but swampbenders like Yuu
User avatar #147 to #6 - sphincterface (10/27/2013) [-]
Well Illinois and Wisconsin would be in the Water Tribe, I live in Illinois, so we have the Mississippi on one side, then have the Great Lakes right next to us, as well as a ******** of rivers all through the state. Wisconsin has the Mississippi on one side and the Great Lakes on the other side as well. Alaska and Hawaii are also Water, Alaska has snow all the time and is almost sorrounded by water, and Hawaii is a chain of islands, so it's pretty obvious.
User avatar #163 to #147 - floogin (10/27/2013) [-]
what about minnesota? The Mississippi starts here and we got lake Superior
User avatar #142 to #6 - zerpderp (10/27/2013) [-]
so then what do people who live on the texas coast get it's hot as balls but humid as **** most of the time are one of the few places that has both water and fire benders or what
User avatar #133 to #6 - mrwightproductions (10/27/2013) [-]

User avatar #173 to #132 - Crusader (10/28/2013) [-]
Dude, I live on the Great Lakes, it doesn't make us waterbenders, if anything my area is closer to Earthbenders, it's all old towns and farmland
User avatar #174 to #173 - saltyfries (10/28/2013) [-]
as do I (comment 134), I live in Green Bay, there's water everywhere.............
User avatar #130 to #6 - TheZealot (10/27/2013) [-]
The Great Lakes State has to be in the Water Nation. We can be like the Water Nation's Alaska. But we're still part of the Water Nation.

Go Michigan.

Oklahoma should be part of Air Nation, it is part of the plains, and is very windy at times.

I believe that, just like the Avatar world, there are some split offs in different areas.

West coast is known for mining, hence names such as 'the silver state'. Not to mention the biggest desert encountered in Avatar: The Last Airbender was in the earth kingdom, and had the sandbenders.

User avatar #67 to #6 - dosburritos (10/27/2013) [-]
But the air nomads don't have a set border. They have temples for the cardinal directions, but they travel the world. I think they would have just a few cities on the corners of the country

And Hawaii is part of the Earth Kingdom due to it being constructed by a volcano or would is be part of the Water Tribe since it's surrounded by water. However it wouldn't make sense since it's near the equator which gets the most exposure from the sun and therefore making it part of the Fire Nation. I live in Hawaii and it's pretty windy here but the fact that the Air Nation is usually known to be located in higher elevated areas marks that off the list.
#25 to #16 - anon (10/27/2013) [-]
Well, you can mark the earth volcano off because everywhere ends up constructed by some sort of volcano. Yours is just recent. The volcano could actually add to the fire part, what with the extremely hot heat.

That makes it water or fire.
#23 to #16 - scrumdillyicious (10/27/2013) [-]
Therefore, hawaii shall be the nation where the Avatars are born.
