No, this doesn't work.

The South East is renowned for having swamps and very wet terrain, they are obviously the water nation

The South West, West Coast (and Texas) are known for being extremely hot, but livable climate, therefore they are the fire nation.

I agree with the Air nation

And finally the North East is renowned for having mines, old stone buildings and being the oldest settled part of the USA, therefore having them as the Earth kingdom makes the most sense.

>Not in the Fire Nation

The **** you talkin bout breh??
User avatar #8 to #5 - lavitts (10/27/2013) [-]
The fire nation is actually extremely fertile and lush, due to being a chain of volcanic islands in the tropics. Whereas the Earth Kingdom is known for its expansive deserts and ******** canyon.
That being said, why the **** isn't Hawaii the Fire Nation!?

Aren't the water tribes supposed to be in the arctic as well?

Yeppers. And we can take it further since the air nomads, being nomads, wouldn't have a bordered-out country of their own. So really, they ought to have little settlements labeled on the map like at Mt. Denali, Devil's Tower, Mt. Mitchell or Haleakala Summit.
User avatar #11 to #10 - adu ONLINE (10/27/2013) [-]
True. Now I'm thinking the person who made this map just drew lines across state borders without putting much thought into it.

Air tribe:I can make you slightly uncomfortable
Earth tribe:I can crush you to death with large chunks of stone and earth.
Fire tribe:I can burn you to death.
I haven't watched this weird wannabe anime,so this is what I'm assuming
#24 to #21 - zephi (10/27/2013) [-]
actually, water benders can blood bend, making you either their literal puppet or they can cause you cardiac arrest and you die of a heart attack, or the can drown you in a small water bubble or pierce your body with ice shards. take your pick.
#46 to #24 - pebar ONLINE (10/27/2013) [-]
mmm no
Blood bending is a very rare trait. Not all water benders can do it so you can't really use it to compare the elements.

I find it interesting world-building wise, there's no "monsters" or any kind of supernatural danger (for now anyway), its interesting how the US turned into whats on the map, into different countries etc. because it all happens 15 years after all electrical things go off. The acting is not very good and things are often done for the sake of plot convenience. I say watch it, but don't have very high expectations of it, especially with the pilot episode.

The sad part is, Georgia probably would at least TRY to over take its surrounding states. If anything, but cutting off the fresh water supply to Florida.

Minnesota is "land of 10,000 lakes" shouldn't we be part of the water tribe?
User avatar #99 - gnarlueck (10/27/2013) [-]
No offense, but how is Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes NOT a part of the Water Tribe?

People really don't understand how much water we have here. I have lived here my whole life and I didn't realize how much water it actually was until I went on a plane for the first time.
#70 - anon (10/27/2013) [-]
Just a minor complaint from the asshole standing behind me, who wants Minnesota to be in the Water Tribes as well. His reasoning: Land of Ten Thousand Lakes and northern most continental state, so fits for both water and ice.

And now that I think about it, isn't the stereotype of Minnesota always a winter wasteland?
